I have a 2018 Silverado 1500. I’ve owned the truck about two years now, and it has 92,000 miles on it. The Stabilitrak message would briefly display once in a while starting my truck pretty much a month since I’ve owned it, and once in a while the cruise control wouldn’t work. This was not often, it was maybe once every 20th time I drove my truck.
This last weekend it started acting up a bit more. I was driving down the highway and the cruise flipped off, and the truck was almost having like a slipping transmission feeling from what I thought first. As I kept driving it turned out that the Stabilitrak light began flashing in and out, and eventually the ABS and Stabilitrak light came on.
I have had a hub bearing that I knew was starting to go bad, so I assumed it was it that was causing the issue so I changed it the next day(real fun, a stripped out bolt and had to torch cut it out). Got in the truck, it actually after about 30 minutes of driving cleared the ABS/Stabilitrak light itself after replacing the hub, then about 5 minutes later the Stabilitrak light blinked in and out and it had the loss of power sensation slightly again. At that point I hooked a code reader up to it. It had these three codes on the ABS system:
C0035,C0050-These two codes are showing open circuit/bad speed sensors. One of them was from the left front tire which is the one I just changed the hub on. The other was for the rear right tires speed sensor, same error code, so I got a new speed sensor and installed it today.
Drove the truck for about 5 miles and the Stabilitrak light briefly blinked and kicked cruise off again. About another 5 miles, and the ABS/Stabilitrak light illuminated again. I hooked the machine up to it to watch for something, the only thing I saw in the data with the code reader connected was that there was a point where all tires except the right rear(the one I just put a new speed sensor on) read they had been between 0-53 miles per hour as their speed range. The right rear tire showed 0-61 mph. I cleared all the codes and drove the truck about 15 more miles and none of them have shown back up yet again and it did not act strange or ever have the Stabilitrak light illuminate during that drive.
One other code it showed was U0422 on the ABS system which is this on the tool:
Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module Invalid Serial Data Received (Symptom 71) - Current DTC, Test Not Passed Since DTC
Cleared, History DTC, Test Not Passed Since Power Up, Current DTC Since
I have now cleared these codes and will have to wait to see what ones come back, but basically I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas on what the issue here may be or how to look to remedy it?
Thank you for any input.
One other thing I should note is I do have 3 tire pressure sensors that have gone bad that I haven’t replaced but they’ve been that way for a while so those error codes obviously show up immediately on the code scanner, surprisingly the light hasn’t illuminated yet though again.
