  1. 96 Chevy K3500 with the 5.7l It has about 215K miles. I am trying to diagnose a fuel pressure issue. My truck first started to run rough like it had a miss. Check engine light came on. I had codes for both banks being lean. I cleaned the MAF sensor with no change. I checked for vacuum leaks. I hooked up a scan tool and checked the LTFT for both banks. They are both at 25%. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail test port. Key on engine off it is around 45. As soon as the pump shuts off it almost instantly drops to 0. I am trying to figure out if I have a bad check valve in my fuel pump or if my FPR is bad. Before this all started, I noticed a loss in power. It could barely get a trailer up the slightest incline. I was trying to see if I could find out the difference in the speed of fuel pressure dropping when the check valve in the pump is bad and when the FPR is bad, to try and isolate the issue.
  2. 1996 5.7 no start purchased in this condition. Checked fuel pressure at crank its 55-58 psi check spark and has spark at plugs. Have installed new spider because it had a small fire under the intake burnt injector lines and had filled oil pan with fuel. Drained oil and replace oil and filter . Checked timing it was ok but can gear had some wear so replaced dist. and plugs. Have 175 lbs on compression on almost all cylinders one had 165 odometer shows 123k and the truck looks right for that. will not even try to pop?
  3. Hi, I like to down load an APP that I can use to adjust and verify my distributer timing on 5.7 vortec. I also like to do crankshaft sensor relearn. I know nothing about what APPs to use/download. And I surely do not know how to use the APP. I have read some really good forums on this site about 5.7 vortec timing and crank sensor relearn. Could someone please take the time. To tell me what APP can do both. And how do I use the APP to do it. That would be so great. I have other vehicles to do crankshaft sensor relearn. Thank you
  4. So I drove my 96 Chevy k1500 with the 350 vortec over a train track like any normal day and all of a sudden my truck is shaking real bad. I managed to get it to a friends garage nearby but I couldn't accelerate. It would only coast. It was running really lean and would fall flat on its face when i gave it gas. It had low fuel pressure so changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. It drives a lot better now but it still starts to fall flat when I try to accelerate too much. I still can't figure out why it won't accelerate. So far I've replaced my... Fuel pump Fuel filter Idle air control valve Elbow tube on the pvc Breather tube grommet Spark plugs and wires I put a new mass air flow sensor on it and that only made it drive worse. What else could it be?
