96 Chevy K3500 with the 5.7l It has about 215K miles. I am trying to diagnose a fuel pressure issue. My truck first started to run rough like it had a miss. Check engine light came on. I had codes for both banks being lean. I cleaned the MAF sensor with no change. I checked for vacuum leaks. I hooked up a scan tool and checked the LTFT for both banks. They are both at 25%. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail test port. Key on engine off it is around 45. As soon as the pump shuts off it almost instantly drops to 0. I am trying to figure out if I have a bad check valve in my fuel pump or if my FPR is bad. Before this all started, I noticed a loss in power. It could barely get a trailer up the slightest incline. I was trying to see if I could find out the difference in the speed of fuel pressure dropping when the check valve in the pump is bad and when the FPR is bad, to try and isolate the issue.

I just recently purchased an 82 s15 gypsy edition roller and it was setup for a 327. I want to put a 1996 350 vortec or a 2003 5.3 in it and a t5. I’m having a hard time trying to find a t5 out of a 90s s10 but i can easily find t5s out of 90s mustangs. I was wondering what would it take to use a mustang trans in this truck. Any other tips and tricks are greatly appreciated as well.

So I did the mpfi upgrade. Finally got the upper intake back on and go to start putting the studs down and torque them. But I got a new phone lost the photos I took of where each stud came from and brackets. I have maybe 3 give or take studs that are shorter then the other and I’m not sure if it matters where any of the studs go back in or not. I also have two brackets that I have no clue where they go and can’t find anything about it.

I've got a 96 yukon slt. It's got a 5.7 LG SGI vortec engine. Bearings ate into the crank and I need to know what's the best replacement to go with. I also want to put a bigger cam on it.

1997 5.7 Vortec intermittent slow start revisited. Short version: I have a 1997 Express with a 5.7 Vortec and the CSFI system. It has 130k miles. It is hard to start after sitting. If I pulse each of the fuel injectors with an injector tester then it starts right up. Problem description is mostly in next post. The test procedure that makes it start is in the third post.

Hello everyone. I have a fun issue. My 99 suburban decided to die on me recently. Was running alright. Went into my parents for maybe 30mins. Came back out it fired up and then died maybe a half second to second after. Never had the issue before. Today decided to attempt to diagnose. It has spark. Distributer looks good. Changed the fuel pump with assembly and fuel filter. Also changed the cam sensor and crankshaft sensor. Lastly changed the ignition switch due to sometimes it acting up and messing with my gauges and transmission. Checked the idle control valve motor. Seems to be working. Cleaned the gunk off of it and the throttle body. Checked all the relays. All working. All fuses are good. Attempting the security passcode reset now due to running out of options. The security light isnt showing. But not sure if this suburban has one. Spray starter fluid into intake and it will run for a second longer then dies out again. Not sure what's causing it. thinking maybe fuel pressure regulator. Any ideas?

97 K1500 5.7 Vortec Ruff Idle after replacing Spider
OlDave posted a question in Ask the GM Technician
97 K1500 5.7 Vortec Ruff Idle after replacing Spider.... So this all started when the intake manifold started leaking like most do after a while. So i replaced the gasket, as well as the Spider, plugs and wires, all four O2 sensor's, the distributor, rotor and cap. oh and all the seals on the Plenum. I have checked the vac lines and the spider seal. So here is whats going on. The truck starts but has a ruff idle like a miss firing. When i drive it, I get to about 40MPH and it starts really jumping and chugging. It misses really bad. When i get back down to about 30MPH it runs ok but ruff like a miss. I pull the Mass Flow connector off and no change. ???.... can the distributor be off one tooth and cause this. Or am i looking for something else...?? Thank You all for helping an old guy here...
