  1. 96 Chevy K3500 with the 5.7l It has about 215K miles. I am trying to diagnose a fuel pressure issue. My truck first started to run rough like it had a miss. Check engine light came on. I had codes for both banks being lean. I cleaned the MAF sensor with no change. I checked for vacuum leaks. I hooked up a scan tool and checked the LTFT for both banks. They are both at 25%. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail test port. Key on engine off it is around 45. As soon as the pump shuts off it almost instantly drops to 0. I am trying to figure out if I have a bad check valve in my fuel pump or if my FPR is bad. Before this all started, I noticed a loss in power. It could barely get a trailer up the slightest incline. I was trying to see if I could find out the difference in the speed of fuel pressure dropping when the check valve in the pump is bad and when the FPR is bad, to try and isolate the issue.
  2. Hello, I have a 2000 K3500, or what I believe they called a "classic" at the time. This is essentially the same as the 1998 or 1999. GM switched platforms in 2000 but offered the 3500 that year in the old body style (OBS). Mine has the 7.4L and automatic transmission. It currently has 130k miles and I bought it with 75k from the original owner in 2011. I'm wondering if there are some known issues or parts that tend to break that I could do some preventive maintenance on? Any specific areas I should look at beyond regularly scheduled Maintence? Anybody have a good maintenance schedule checklist to reference? Thanks!!
  3. Hey all, I have a 1995 Sierra K3500 with a 14 bolt 10.5'' 4.10 30 spline rear, but it's not a posi and I'm looking to make it one the cheapest way possible. My father had a 1978 K30 with the exact same rear (14 bolt 10.5'' 4.10 30 spline) but with a posi. He ended up swapping it out with a open diff. Currently that posi unit is sitting at my Grandma's house in the shed and I'm wondering if I can use that. It is completely stock with the 4.10 still on it. So, I'm wondering if I could just take my current diff out of the cover and place the '78 unit in there no problem or is there more to it/not even possible? I'm not too familiar with rears so I'm not sure if the 17 year gap between the 2 trucks make a big difference in terms of rears. Thanks, Hawk.
