GM recalls 160,000 pickup trucks in Canada for fire risks, nothing announced in US yet As of right now there is a recall for all GM 1500's years 2014-2018 that have both a rear window defogger and a power sliding rear window. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gm-recall-pickup-trucks-canada-fire-risks/ That recall has not been expanded to the US. I Just got off the phone with GM and filed a request to have the recall expanded to the US. I would encourage everyone who this applies to in this forum to do the same. It takes about 5-10 min but could save us all a lot of hassle later. HAVE YOUR VIN READY Call GM @1 (866) 522-9559 Reference this recall number: Manufacturer Recall Number N192220470 (This is the recall number from GM in Canada) (reference: https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&mk=0&md=0&fy=0&ty=9999&ft=&ls=0&sy=0&rn=2019325&cf=SearchResult&pg=50) They will tell you that the recall only applies in Canada and not to your VIN. Express to them that the recall needs to be expanded to the US since our vehicles are also affected. Please post here if you have called GM (just so we can keep track) Please also post if you have experienced this issue (smoke, glass breakage, etc) Affected components: electrical – rear window defroster on trucks equipped with the power sliding rear window. Affected vehicles: 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2015-2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado LD 2014-2018 GMC Sierra 1500 2015-2019 GMC Sierra HD 2014-2018 GMC Sierra LD It may be a good idea to sticky this topic.

I am just starting out to repair the AC on a van I bought from a neighbor and the air conditioning only blows out of the defrost and a little bit out of the floor. The system is charged, the blower fan works on all of the speeds, I just don't know where to start and the internet has nothing that will do me any good for my specific vehicle, which is a 1999 GMC Savana 3500. I was just curious how to resolve this quickly and in the cheapest way possible before I tore apart the dash and got in over my head. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I read through a lot of threads and owners manual and I probably just missed it but...the past few days it's been very cold (well to us anyway low 30's) and I've noticed when I start my truck (not remote start and my A/C is not in "Auto") the rear window defroster/outside mirror heat button is lit up and I have to turn it off since the window and mirrors are clear. Is this just a normal feature I am just now noticing and can't seem to find it in the OM? Thanks and if this is already covered my apologies up front. ***UPDATE*** Thanks to @JimCost2014 my question has been answered.

Hello everyone my name is Joe. And I want to say thank you for reading this. I hope somebody can help me fix my work truck. So the problem we got here is something with HVAC. I noticed it first happened in the summer. The air conditioning was only coming out of the defrost vent. With some troubleshooting I found out it was a vacuum line disconnected from the reservoir. Plugging that in fixed the issue and the air came out of all vents. I first thought it might have been the blend door actuator. So I took it out and tested the knobs and it worked so I put it back in. Now the problem I am having is that it is getting cold so I'm using heat now. The cold air will come out of all vents, but when I go to use the hot air, it only comes out of defrost. I can spin the knob to about the middle of cold and hot before all air goes to defrost.

Ok, so either I am a little slow (very possible!) or I am missing an important step...my '08 had the remote 'synced' to my truck...and it would recognize when I (my remote) unlocked the doors and my wife's...and it would adjust the seats to the person...when you use the remote start it would recognize the outside temp and if it were cold outside, it would turn on the seat heaters... When I first got my truck, I synced my remote so it does recognize me as 'Driver 2' and my wife as 'Driver 1'... Now, I went to my settings and worked through all the steps I found in the owners manual, my truck still recognizes me, but it will not automatically move my seats back to my position (if my wife drives my truck) and it won't turn the cooled or heated seats on... Again...I know this is first world problems and all...but I figure if I have the options I paid for, I want them to work... Any advise? or are there some key steps the owners manual left out that I need to go back and try?
