I have finally got around to finalizing the install of the OEM RSE system for my 2016 Silverado HD. This was the only option that I wanted that my pickup did not come with so I am extremely happy this is done and so is my son! I would like to give a BIG THANKS to Anthony and John at MVI (www.gm-navigation.com) as they are extremely knowledgeable and their customer service is top notch. I purchased MVI's in-dash Blu-ray and RSE kits along with the unlocked HMI module and added their HDMI input and third brake lamp camera with switch. The unlocked HMI is definitely worth the money over a Lockpick as you have full control while in motion and don’t have to worry about the Lockpick failing as I had 2 of 2 fail in my old 2010 Silverado. MVI supplied most of the parts though I did source a few parts from the dealer as I did vary a little from MVI's kit as I wanted the RSE controls in the center console which their current kit does not yet have but was told it is on their to-do list with many other projects. Their HDMI kit requires the RSE controls as you tap into those inputs. I removed one of the cigar lighter outlets in the front of the center console and mounted the HDMI input there. If you stick to their kit, the install is fairly simple IF you have a sunroof. Once again, MVI offers great customer service in case you do run into any glitches. They are also a vendor on here as well if you did not know. NOTE: ***NON-SUNROOF VEHICLES*** You do need a new headliner if you don't have a sunroof as you need the mounting bracket for the screen which offsets the screen from of the original position of the overhead dome lamp leaving ts existing hole exposed. On sunroof vehicles, the dome lamp and screen use the sunroof frame to mount to and you just enlarge the existing dome lamp hole.

I know this is the truck side of the forum, but I think trucks have the same DVD/Blue Ray player as the Yukon XL...and there is a LOT more activity over here than on the SUV side. This seems like an easy ask, but I’ll be damn I can’t find the answer... we have a 2019 Yukon XL with the dual screen dvd/Blu-ray player... I can’t seem to figure out which headphones are compatible with this player (except for the direct factor replacement and I don’t want to spend $200 for a pair of headphones). Any help would be greatly appreciated! at some point even though the look the same the dvd player changed (maybe 2018?) but I know the remote isnt the same manf number for my 2019 than is is for the 2017.... thanks in advance for any help...

Hey all, I installed the Alpine X110 SRA and am having an issue. Was hoping others in here also have it and might be a wizard.... I installed the bypass, and everything works. I get DVD video in motion. Menus all work without the parking brake, etc. But this weekend I had a long drive with my son so I grabbed a few DVDs for him to watch from the back seat, but when it got to the point on the DVD where you are at the menu and would select "play", I couldnt select play via touching it nor was there a menu present on the screen to try and select play. My remote also does not work. I have tested the battery with a volt meter and it is good, replaced the battery, nothing. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I know its the truck forum but its built on the same frame and most of the same parts. I have an 09 Tahoe hybrid with the nav and I tried a new nav disk the other day because the dealer I bought my tahoe from decided not to give me the nav disk with it. It started out loading ok got a quarter of the way through the process and failed and gave me an error "Caution cannot load system software disk type incorrect please insert correct system disk" Problem is I cannot get anything to respond to open the face and insert the disk again. Any idea on opening the face. There has to be a sequence of buttons to push and make it open. Ive tried holding the eject button to no avail. I attached a pic of the screen and buttons so you see what im working with. Thanks for the help.

My wife wants me to add a DVD player to my truck but I can't really find a solution that I like other than adding a factory fold down to the headliner. Here's the link to the new ones that are coming in the 2015 Tahoes, etc. http://www.gmpartsdirect.co/chevrolet/tahoe/22966134/2015-year/ltz-trim/5-3l-v8-flex-engine/electrical-cat/entertainment-system-components-scat/?part_name=dvd-unit What would be required to add one of the factory fold down units other than the unit itself? It's not self contained is it? It is listed as "DVD UNIT" so I didn't know if it had the player/dvd drive built in. Would I need the factory radio to be able to play DVDs? What kind of input is on the fold down monitor? Would I need to replace the radio I have with the radio that has the rear DVD option, i.e. the ones in the Tahoes? I've searched and searched and can't find the answers. Hoping someone has some info on this. *I don't really want the headrest ones *I don't want the "just use an iPad" answer lol Thanks in advance EDIT - I put the wrong part number in the topic. here is the correct number GM #22966134

I was watching videos on my usb stick. From what i understand your only able to use 480p resolution videos, and they have terrible quality (very pixelated even on such a small screen). Is there anyway to improve the video resolution capabilities on the mylink screens, or watch higher resolution videos? This was in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Midnight Edition.

I have a new 2015 Suburban LTZ. I have been try to get the DVD player to play the movies for the children in the back of the vehicle using the controls/my link touch screen, however it is not possible. I just got off the phone with Chevy customer service. I was told this is the way it was designed and the only way to play the movie is from the back seats with the remote control! What! No other car, not even last year’s Suburban is like this. All entertainment systems can be controlled/ played from the front. There has to be a fix for this.

I was strolling through the GM Accessory site and came across these new RSE Headrest DVD players - part number 22924616. Has anybody seen them or have experience with them? Looking at the small picture, they appear to not be headrest replacements, but simply attach to the headrest posts. Can anybody confirm this? And does anybody know if they play Blu Ray DVDs? And FYI, there are a few new accessories (Kicker sub & amp, fender flares) that weren't available the last time I visited the site. Thanks.

The cd player in my 03 Avalanche is trashed. The truck has steering wheel controls and onstar. What do I need to do to install an aftermarket head unit? Will I loose onstar and the steering wheel controls? I'd like to install a DVD system with rear screen for the brats. What are my options?

OK guys, here is the stereo everyone wants, the Advent OGM1, complete with DVD, NAV and backup camera. I had it installed in my 2009 GMC Sierra, and recently traded that truck for another brand. Everything worked great in it. It is just over a year old. This is the plug and play model and it is hard to distinguish it from the stock NAV system. IMO, this one sounds better than the stock radio, as it has a 9 band EQ. I paid quite a bit more than this for it, but the first $900 takes it (shipping included in the lower 48 states). I will accept Paypal. Let me know.
