Chevrolet has opened the order books for the 2027 Colorado. The 2027 order guide arrived August 3 with zero fanfare from GM, and while this isn’t a redesign year, there’s enough inside to change how you’d build one: a new engine code for the TurboMax, three new colors, two new wheel designs, faster onboard Wi-Fi, and a convenience package that finally reaches the off-road trims.

The GMC Canyon made the jump to 2027 the same day. Here’s everything that changed on the Chevy side.

The Lineup Stays Put

Five trims, one body style. Every 2027 Colorado is a crew cab short box with the 2.7L TurboMax and an 8-speed automatic, same as it’s been since this generation launched for 2023. If you were hoping for a long box or a different cab, this isn’t the year.

Trim Order Code Model Code Drivetrain
WT (Work Truck) 2WT / 4WT 14C43 2WD / 4WD
LT 2LT / 4LT 14C43 2WD / 4WD
Trail Boss 0TR 14E43 4WD
Z71 4Z7 14G43 4WD
ZR2 4ZR 14H43 4WD

The TurboMax Gets a New Code

The quietest change on the list might end up being the biggest. For 2027, the 2.7L TurboMax carries RPO code L4B instead of the L3B it launched with. Same displacement, same name, same transmission.

GM doesn’t hand out new engine codes for nothing. A change like this usually points to a hardware or emissions revision somewhere in the engine, and it has real consequences for owners: parts catalogs, tunes, and service procedures all key off that code. What actually changed, and whether power or towing numbers move with it, isn’t in the guide yet.

New Equipment

  • (Q5U) 17-inch wheels for the LT
  • (SKZ) 18-inch Gloss Black machined-face wheels
  • (U5G) 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, up from 4G LTE
  • (UG1) Universal Home Remote
  • (HV3) Jet Black with Artemis Cloth/Evotex interior for the ZR2

One welcome bit of package news: (ZL4) Convenience Package III is now optional on the Z71 and available on the ZR2. That equipment was off the menu for the off-road trims before, so if that combination kept you from ordering one, the door is open now.

Gone for 2027: the L3B engine code and the (Q5W) 17-inch Argent Metallic wheels, plus three colors.

Three Colors In, Three Out

Snowdrift Metallic, Reef Blue Metallic, and Sunrise Orange are done. Taking their place: Serpent Metallic, Storm Gray Metallic, and Nitron Blue.

2027 Color RPO Code Touch-Up Paint Status
Serpent Metallic G3T WA-226L New
Storm Gray Metallic GEC WA-243F New
Nitron Blue GEV WA-377M New
White Sands G42 WA-234L Carryover
Summit White GAZ WA-8624 Carryover
Black GBA WA-8555 Carryover
Radiant Red Tintcoat GNT WA-170H Carryover
Sterling Gray Metallic GXD WA-130H Carryover

Check the fine print before you set your heart on a combination, though. Storm Gray and Nitron Blue won’t pair with the ZR2’s Jet Black and Artemis interior, and Serpent Metallic won’t combine with the Z71’s Adrenaline Red cabin. So the two most interesting new colors largely skip the two trims most people want them on.

The Numbers Don’t Move

Payload, GVWR, dimensions, fuel capacity: all identical to the current truck. A 4WD Colorado still carries up to 1,700 lbs, GVWR holds at 6,250 lbs, the tank is still 21.4 gallons, and the ZR2 still stands on 10.73 inches of ground clearance. Whatever the L4B revision is, it hasn’t touched a published spec.

Buy a 2026 or Order a 2027?

It comes down to color and patience. If Snowdrift, Reef Blue, or Sunrise Orange is your truck, a 2026 is your only path, and closeout season is when dealers get flexible. That leverage only improves as 2027 production ramps up.

If the new colors appeal, or you’re curious what the L4B revision brings, orders are open now.

The Rest of the 2027 Story

The Colorado follows the pattern GM has applied to most of its 2027 lineup: colors, wheels, and packages reshuffled, nothing structural. If you’re shopping the broader family, the changes for each model so far:

The full-size trucks are the exception. The 2027 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 are getting far more than a color shuffle, and the details that have surfaced so far are worth a read while you wait for their order guides:
