I have a 2014 Silverado Z71 with the 8 inch touch screen. Nearly half the time, my voice command function will not activate. When I push the voice command button on the steering wheel, I receive a message that reads, "voice commands not available for selected language". The selected language is English. Also, the voice icon on the touch screen isn't illuminated. When illuminated, it works fine. The only way I can get it to work is to turn the truck off and remove the key, then restart. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem? I'm sure it's a software issue. Can my software be upgraded or reloaded at the dealership? Thanks.
I would like to report an encouraging development. I took my 2014 Z71 double cab into the dealership about two months ago to get the vibration problem looked at. They told me I had one tire out of balance which they said they rebalanced. Afterwards, I took it out on the highway but still had a slight vibration at 70-75. After reading all the post on this forum, I decided just to wait and see what happens. Well, over the last month or so, the vibration has completely stopped. 75 is smooth. Took it up to 85 yesterday. Still smooth as glass. I just turned over 3200 miles. I have no idea why the vibration has stopped. Tire wear, suspension breaking in, what??? Whatever has happened, I hope it is permanent. As a side note, I have not experienced any other problems some folks have been reporting. No noise in rear end, dash is not warping, no rattles. This is the third Silverado in a row I have owned. I had a 2004, 08, now a 14. This truck is the best by far. It's tight, quiet, the 5.3 is kick ass and all electronics to include mylink works perfectly. I love this truck...as long as the vibration issue remains a non-issue.
I joined this because I was searching for information on this topic. I bought a 2014 Silverado Double Cab Z71 All Star Edition about two weeks ago. I have noticed a slight vibration or shimmy at highway speeds above 65. At 55-60 mph, it's smooth. It's most noticeable at 70-75. When I have a bottle of water in the cup holder, you can see the vibration in the water. Also, it doesn't do it all the time. It seems like when the truck accelerates (in cruise control) it does it. When on flat level or slightly down hill, it doesn't. I'm trying to decide whether to take it in or not. Since it doesn't do it all the time, I'm thinking this has nothing to do with wheel balance. Maybe driveshaft balance? Any thoughts?
