  1. Well, that is disappointing to read. I too have the same set up as you do and am quite happy with the ride. The springs are a little bit firmer than the stock ride was. I live in New England where the roads are terrible. Pot holes and patches are everywhere due to the frost heaves, but I think the truck rides just fine. I have trailered with it, and it rides great with that hooked up too. I wonder if you have something else going on? Bad shock? Shackle mounts too tight? Wrong springs? I have 700 miles on my lift and I just re-torqued everything this weekend. The u bolts needed some tightening, but everything else looked good. Also,(knock on wood) I have not seen any stabiltrac issues either. Other than height, my wife has commented that it rides like it did before the lift. Something must be wrong with your set up. Have you tried to remove the shocks and see if it makes any difference? In any event, good luck with your search, and I hope you figure it out.
  2. I can't believe that 10 pounds of air increased the height by that much. Have you seen any stabilitrac issues surface yet?
  3. Looks fantastic! Exactly the look I am going for too. Can you tell me which BDS system you ended up with? Any further comments? Also if not too much trouble, can you tell me tires and how do you like them? Fender measurements would also be helpful to me if you could. Thanks.
  4. Good things come to those who wait. I want to see the pictures, so I feel like I got let down too. LOL
  5. I have been following every forum on lifts and have held off from pulling the trigger on ordering BDS 6" coil over when I heard about Payton's problems. Some others have had Stablitrac issues but only at higher speeds. I am concerned with comments that the rear spring pack is too stiff but that blocks will be more prone to wrap. Right about now, I am so confused, I don't know which way to go. Please post your experiences once you have your lift, or PM me if easier. I am really interested in how you make out. Ride, fender height, handling, glad you did it, etc. Thanks
  6. What pressures are you running the tires at? Maybe it's too high?
  7. Please measure before and after the add a leafs go in. Is the comment regarding coil over shocks based on first hand knowledge? This is the first time that I am hearing that the coil overs ride like a rock. Everyone else to date have said it was pretty smooth with the coil over set up. I was worried about the rear leafs being too stiff.
  8. How high did the rear of your truck end up being? I am guessing a 5" block should put you around 45 inches?
  9. How do you like the rear leafs? How do they compare for ride against stock? I have heard others here say they are too stiff. Have you towed anything with that set up?
  10. Anyone have an opinion on which is worse between stiff springs and axle wrap? I want to order lift soon, but concerned about what way to go.
  11. I would like to know more about this question as well. I am contemplating the BDS 5" block vs the glide ride springs. I am concerned using 5" blocks and axle wrap, but I am more concerned about a crappy ride with the springs being too stiff. I do tow toys, but not every day. (snowmobiles, quads jet skis etc.) Anyone with either set up want to comment? Thanks.
  12. Talk to me about axle wrap. I am looking at BDS 6inch with rear lifts because I am concerned about using a 5 inch block.
  13. I am in the same exact boat as Hunter 79. From my research, I would echo the responses above in that BDS is a premier lift and Zone comes from the same parent. However, the BDS kit comes with skid plates and warranty, and replaces the struts where the Zone uses the stock struts and spacers. Either of BDS 4 or 6" kit will accept 35's and Zone states that 35's are "tight, may require trim" with the 4" lift. I think the owner has to evaluate how important mileage or performance is with either kit. With a lifted vehicle, both will suffer for numerous reasons. 35's weigh more and is more rotational impact than 33's, but for me, it is about balancing "the look" (4/33 or 6/35). Some 35's on 4 inch lifts look stuffed and 33's on a 6" lift look lost. You can re gear, but that is expensive. The speedo will be off by about 4-5 MPH but it does add up extra mileage on the odometer. You can recalibrate with a hand tuner, but it will show on the ECU and could void warranty. I have driven a Pro Comp 6"/35" and I didn't think it was too bad (5.3L with 3.42), but it was a 13-15 MPG vehicle (real world). I can live with that, but not 8-10 MPG. I also drove a 4"/35" Pro Comp Rocky Ridge at the dealer and thought it was fine too. New technologies have really changed the ride quality with lifted vehicles. I was not aware that the BDS coil over set up were adjustable 4-7". I would like to know more about that, as I would like to have some rake too. 5" in front and 6" in rear sounds ideal to me. Not sure if rear springs are needed over blocks. I do tow ATV and sleds, so I don't want a lot of squat. I am definitely in for BDS, just not sure what version to pull the trigger on, and plan to keep the stock 20's in any case. With 20's the 35's would offer more cushion for the sidewall of tire which would help ride. I would like to see more side by side pictures if anyone has some.
  14. BDS will allow you to use stock 20's with their 6" lift and the 4" too. I have had extensive conversation with them about it because I want to use 35's as well, but haven't decided on the 6" or 4" yet.
  15. How is the ride/noise with the Generals and or the air bags? I wasn't planning bags, but I do like the look of a little rake.
  16. Agreed this looks taller for some reason when compared to other pictures of 4-4.5 lifts. 35's normally looked jammed on a 4" lift but this really looks great. If my lift project looks like this when I am done, I will be very happy. I may have to consider Generals, but not a fan of the red letters. I wonder if having larger wheels (like 20's) affects the overall appearance? This one is spot on in my opinion. Nice job!
  17. The truck above is a sierra with the wheel wells outlined in black which may be giving the illusion of more space around the tires in the picture. I called on both lifts and they said they were the same. Even still, 1/2 inch is not going to give dramatic results shown in these two pictures. Also, some tires are not true 35" when mounted, I did not check the specs on Generals. Maybe someone can clear this up for sure.
