After driving the 2018 Yukon Denali for a week, I decided to trade in my ‘15 and buy it. The 10-speed transmission is smooth and the noise and pressure are non-existent. My family says this one is smoother and quieter than my ‘15. I had them remove the 22’s for 20’s before I drove it. Don’t know if the wheels on an ‘18 make a difference. I love it! Really impressed.

I’ll stick with mine. I don’t want a new mess.

I keep hoping for changes to the Yukon. 2007 was a bad model year. There were so many improvements over the next 7 years and it became a great SUV. The dealer told me they were getting killed with the ‘15 and ‘16 models. He said they aren’t seeing it on 17 and 18. They can’t keep the Denali in stock. I also learned the Yukons come on a truck with crappy black wheels. The 20’s and 22’s are added at the dealership. They’re shipped completely separate and aren’t assigned to a car. There’s a warehouse of wheels...they grab a pair and stick them on a Denali before putting it on the lot.

I have a dilemma. My dealer admitted there’s been a problem with ‘15’s and ‘16’s coming back on a regular basis. He said he hasn’t seen it with ‘17’s and 18’s. It’s the end of the year and he’s offering 20% of MSRP on an ‘18 2WD Denali if I trade in my ‘15. I was one of the lucky ones who bought my ‘15 from him 3 years ago and didn’t have any noise or vibration problems. $62k out the door with TT&L and extended warranty on a $75k sticker. The catch is, I sign the papers tomorrow - the Denali is sight unseen until it arrives next week. The GM said I can cancel the deal if I don’t like the two arriving next week. Is the deal too risky on an ‘18?

Does anyone know where I can find information on the steering wheel popping noise? I didn’t realize it was a common issue.

I can’t believe we’re up to the 2018 model year and the trucks still have problems. GM continues to put 22’s on them and the roofs still aren’t glued. I’m one of the early posters - I got my Denali in 2015. My Denali came with 20’s and I didn’t have any booming or pressure in my Yukon. I test drove a bunch with the booming/noise before finding my Yukon. All had 22’s. The trim fell off all four doors around the windows. The dealer was prepared. He had extra in stock - it was a common design flaw on the Yukon he said. My steering wheel sounds like it’s coming off while I drive. I have 30,000 miles and need new tires; however, I’m scared to mess with anything. What if new tires start the booming problem? I would get the same brand of 20’s, hoping a simple swap won’t cause noise in the cabin. I’m stalling though...

They were pushing all the "great technology" in the 2017 Escalade before I test drove it. That's nice. Now make them driveable. I'm in mourning, it's a beautiful SUV. I shouldn't tempt fate - keeping my '15 Denali is probably best. The 20's worked on my noise/buffeting issue.

I looked at 2017 Escalades today. I have a 2015 Denali with 23k miles. (I commented several months back on my search for a new Denali without the noise and pressure - and found one). After driving the 2017 Escalade, I was so disappointed to find GM hasn't fixed the booming/pressure issues. I drove a 2016 and it was awful. The 2017 was better, but not much. To make matters worse, the dealership acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. This is the only Cadillac dealer in a city of 2 million people. There's no way I'm the first person to mention the noise. I guess there won't be an Escalade in my future. So disappointed.

I mentioned back in January that 20's were the answer on the Yukon Denali I purchased (May 2015) with less than 20 miles. I've asked several 2015-2016 Yukon owners about their cabin pressure. My experience seems to be consistent with other owners. Switching to 20's reduced and/or eliminated the problem. I have 18,000 miles on my SUV and don't have any pressure problems.

I've been following this thread from the beginning and I think the tires contribute to the noise. I drove the suv's in all 3 groups (both sizes) over several months and experienced the same cabin pressure/noise. I didn't drive any 4x4 versions. My husband always insisted we test drive the ones with 22's. I finally found one without problems, so I drove it 300 miles before I bought it. This one had 20's. The sticker said equipped with 22's. We found out the dealer took the factory installed 22's off the Denali and replaced them with 20's. They're Continental CrossContact LX20 Eco+ 275/55/20. The tire pressure was 32-34 in the winter and is 34-35 now. I'm going to have air let out as it warms up. We later found out the salesperson who took the 22's off my Denali regretted it, b/c it created the noise and pressure problems in his Denali. I have a sunroof and built-in entertainment system. No noise problems in the cabin and my headliner doesn't move when I close the door. I have a 2015i with 14,000 miles now. I bought it with 10 miles.
