  1. Unfortunately that is why the GMC is a premium marketed brand above Chevrolet. They diverge more and more every refresh cycle. Myself, I traded my suburban for a Yukon, and it’s true. GMC has better sound deadening, touchable interior parts, and softer seats. I wouldn’t have believed it before until owning both versions of the K2 platform in different brands. 2. The factory HUD in my Suburban is nearly impossible to see with polarized glasses. I have a pair of non-polarized prescription sunglasses and I can see the HUD perfect with them. I think most higher end cars have polarized windshields in them so I guess no harm to wear non-polarized glasses if you are UV sensitive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Is the ghost image the reason for a special coated windshield for HUD models? Just a thought. There had to be a reason for a different windshield with HUD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have my Silverado 5.3 throttle boost set to 20%. Throttle response is excellent, and where it should be stock in my opinion. However with the 20% boost I have noticed definite decline in mileage and the trans tends to stay in higher gear around town. Engine stays 1500-2000 rpm just coasting down hill or slower traffic because of the high throttle input. I am going to back the boost off because it is kind of annoying having the engine at higher rpm at light cruise. I can punch the throttle and make it upshift, but still annoying. 5. Wanted to add an update with my diablo intune I2. I programmed the MPG booster and disabled the upshift torque management and added 5% to throttle boost. I took the Burban on a 1100 mile trip this weekend and unfortunately fought a 10-15 mph head or sidewind at all times. It was nearly all interstate driving at 80 - 85 mph. About 25 miles were in town and I averaged 19.8 mpg. Highway only I was up to 22 at some times. Before the MPG booster tune I guarantee in these conditions I could only expect 16-17 mpg overall average. This tuner really makes a difference and the throttle response is much better as well. 6. If you have factory nav, you will always have it. You have to pay GM to update it, and if you want current traffic and road construction info you have to subscribe to XM NavTraffic. Otherwise you will always have the map version navigation from time of purchase if you have factory Nav. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I have factory HUD in my suburban and it requires a special windshield if I need to replace it. No idea of price or what is so special, but sure it has a special coating to provide clear reflection without any "double vision" effect. Have to say, I love the HUD. Wish I had it in my Silverado, so interested in how this project comes along. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Highly recommend. Just a couple mph will make. Big difference on ABS, traction control, Economy calculating, and ultimately shifting and acceleration Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I am planning on putting a spreadsheet together of all parameters so I can easily track what I change and how it performs real world. Not sure when I'll have the time to get this done, but it's my plan, and I'll post the parameter options for the 2015 and 2016 GM trucks once I finish. BTW, part throttle shift pressure and rpm is an adjustable parameter on my i2. As well as ignition timing and fuel trim. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. It is simply on or off. One note though it only disables the TM on upshifts. I don't see it being a problem with damaging the trans unless you are constantly mashing the throttle. Drive sensibly and taking the TM off makes the truck take off and shift like it was always supposed to. Actually feels like the 383 ft-lbs are showing up for work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I bought straight from the Diablosport.com website. That is where they advertised the sale price as well. I think it was 20% off, but I got the i2 tuner + an extra license for a total of about $450. About the regular price of the i2 tuner alone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Greetings all: I have a '15 Crew cab L83 5.3l engine and a '16 Suburban L83. The advertised power just never seemed to corroborate the "seat of the pants" feeling I got when driving these trucks. They both seem So dead off the line, and seemed like you have to push the accelerator pedal too far to get a relevant response from that rated 355 HP Ecotec power plant. I traded a 2009 CC 6.2l for my 2015 CC 5.3. I regretted the power slump from day one, but the refinement and comfort in the K2 made me overlook how much more fun the 6.2 was to drive. I read a few posts about doing a tune to disable Torque Management, as well as adjust other parameters with the Diablosport tuner. Well they are on sale for Christmas and I bought the DiabloSport i-2 tuner as well as an extra license to tune my wife's suburban for less than $500 ( saved about $100 off retail). Today I just finished installing several different tunes and many a test drive after downloading the updates from the website... WOW!!! This was the best money I've ever spent on a modification, not to mention the easiest! First I just flashed a canned tune from Diablosport in my Silverado. Made a noticeable difference. Better throttle response nice firm shift, etc. Next I got brave and used the options to modify many parameters on top of the standard Diablosport tunes. This is where this little tool shines. There are many parameters to adjust. The current tune I made (simplified summary) is disabling torque management (a must for everyone), increased throttle boost to +20%, increased some ignition timing and fuel ratio, as well as increasing shift point RPM and line pressure in Tow/Haul mode for the 6 spd. This truck is now ALIVE and spunky to drive. So worth the few hundred dollars to actually feel the rated HP and TQ off the line instead of having to bury the pedal to get any feedback from the engine. I will be customizing parameters in the wife's Burban next. She complains constantly it is such a dog taking off from a stoplight. Long story short, I'll get to my question. Are there any other guys out there who have used the Diablosport tunes, and what parameter settings have you been using? My trucks are bone stock, but I see lots of benefit to be able to enrich fuel delivery and timing if you add a bigger exhaust or CAI. Honestly the way my Silverado performs now I have no reason to bolt on any hardware at this point. Because I really jacked up the specs in tow/Haul mode, I can switch to tow/haul and it performs more like a sport mode for when I really want to "let er buck". Just wanted to let everyone know that this tuner really does let the testicles descend on your 5.3 and is worth the money. If anyone has any personal stories and parameters to share I'd gladly accept some more wisdom and experience. Thanks All: Shawn Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. My LTZ suburban has factory HID. Aside from pulling a bulb (which is a bit difficult) You should be able to tell by watching the lights turn on. LEDs will be instantly bright, HID will take a brief second to come to full brightness. You also should be able to hear a faint buzzing noise coming from the transformers as the HID's run on high voltage and I believe it's AC. With the engine off and lights on in my suburban it sounds like you are listening to an old fluorescent light buzzing if you stand up front by the lights. I don't think the LED lights would make any noise unless they are fan cooled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That's a '17! Did they add some changes from 16 like the Tahoe/Suburban? Sent from my iPhone 6s Plus using Tapatalk
  15. Stock, delivery day! Here is after a few add-ons: 2015 2LZ. Summit White, ebony interior with Z71 badging (no wood grain!), RSE and Nav. Checked every box except 6.2... Buyers remorse on that, but MSRP was already $55K - rediculous-right?Intended to buy high country 3LZ, but my wife was thoroughly turned off on the saddle interior. Don't care for it much myself don't like the HC rims either!!! Got this guy as s year end deal so didn't have any 6.2's in the area with RSE which I wanted for trips with the offspring. Added CK156 22" chrome wheels, Putco Locker Rails, Larado tonneau cover, GM splash guards, body color grille, 6,000k HID low beams and fogs (made a HUGE difference in lighting) and GM accessory step bars. Plan to Diablo tune to wake this girl up a bit off the line (runs great at 3,000 rpm, but damn torque mngmt is neutering this rig off the line! Also want to body color headlight bezels and both bumpers - love the mono white look. Adding s supercharger isn't far out of the realm too, but that's a fat investment! Great looking trucks all! -Shawn Sent from my iPhone 6s Plus using Tapatalk
  16. I have adaptive cruise on my 15 LTZ Hoe and I will never buy another vehicle without it if I can help it. It is so convenient not having to constantly adjust cruise speed up and down on long interstate highway trips, and in heavy traffic, as it automatically will brake as well. As far as I'm aware it cannot be deactivated to manual cruise. I really wish my '15 Silverado had it, I Love It!! best $1,000 option I have ever bought. I do believe the Y66 adaptive cruise on the Denali is the same as the Escalades, as it can be set up to follow a car at a preset distance (Like my Tahoe) or it can also be set to follow by a set time interval in seconds.
