  1. Just put it in L5 and find something else to fuss about.
  2. In my experience ('17 5.3) the transition back and forth is undetectable, unless you are watching the display you wouldn't know. But, it's that back and forth that bothers me. I think it transitions too often and at too low a speed. Steady, flat highway driving is one thing. The least bit hilly and it's all over the place, not to mention 40 MPH in town. The solution is to use L5 and live with the mileage hit.
  3. Indeed. I ordered Z71 purely for the "less chrome" look (although I then added some by going LTZ). Couldn't care less about skid plates.
  4. The UPR is a two piece. The base screws in just like the stock cap.
  5. If you were to outline the steps in removing the CSS cap for the service guy or the tech to employ in changing the oil what would those steps be?
  6. The service manager at "my dealership" had no idea what a catch can is. This is not uncommon, most people are not anal forum dwellers. He did get real interested, however, when I said he was missing the boat on a lot of money to be made. When dealers start offering these as "add-ons", like pin striping, etc. I will not be surprised.
  7. Indeed. The lube tech at the dealer is going to be the same caliber as what gets hired at Jiffy Lube, etc. Which is why in my opinion it might be best he not be confronted with something he doesn't see all the time, especially since removal of the CSS itself is so easy. Explaining things will take far more time. If you remove just the CSS you will leave one fitting on the airbox unused. If you remove the CSS system with all hoses, and reinstall the original airbox hoses, you will leave the WOT fitting on the can unused. What to do about that is my question ---- cap/plug with something or can they be left as is briefly? This seems like an excellent issue for Joe to weigh in on. Changing oil with the UPR system installed is not as easy or uncomplicated as stock.
  8. Remove the whole works or just the CSS portion? Returning it to a configuration of just the catch can would be easy enough but then what to do with the WOT outlet?
  9. Has anyone had problems with the "lube tech" at the dealership having no clue how to remove the CSS in order to add oil?
  10. You can also get rid of the annoying seat rattler and have it do just an audible alert.
  11. And that can't be done while driving?
  12. Sure have. Also heard TODAY about a 71 year old grandfather mowed down at his mailbox by some airhead texting on a phone. You think maybe that's the sort of deal I'm referring to?
  13. Is this offer still good? Does it include the upgraded check valves?
  14. Wouldn't you need a new faceplate as well?
  15. The real issue is what was he doing on his phone? Hopefully, he pulled over and stopped.
  16. Hard to be optimistic about a dealer playing straight with you.
  17. Yes, thanks. I was close to being sold (still am) on the e2x until I ran into yours. Now debating. The Elite has a larger capacity and can be installed where it's easier to get at. UPR has those nice hoses and connections. Decisions, decisions.
  18. How about answering the questions contained in posts 79 & 82?
  19. Also --- does the location of the can and/or css cap and/or lines get in the way of being able to easily remove the cap on the valve cover and pour in oil?
  20. I’m trying to avoid that. The whole point of my search here is to make the right decision on the first try. It’s not like Consumer Reports covers these things.
  21. What is capacity of UPR can and how does it compare to the Elite e2x? Does UPR work as efficiently as e2x, i.e. does it remove as much oil/contaminants? How much room to work with below drain - can you get a water bottle under there? I very much like the plug/play aspect but it needs to perform as well as Elite.
  22. Sound like you want to buy something ----- they’ll respond immediately!
  23. Substandard hoses do seem to be an issue.
  24. Catch cans are a modification to a system. Magnuson Moss does not apply. If it was a replacement part, yes, but it is not.
  25. From GMC: Since the warranty does not cover installations or alterations to the original equipment, adding a catch can device may void warranty coverage for any parts affected by this alteration. We recommend speaking to your local dealer before any changes are made to the vehicle. Please let us know if you have any further questions. At GMC, we strive to provide exceptional customer service. If we can be of any further assistance please email us or call 1-888-988-7267 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time, and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thank you for contacting GMC!
