  1. That dealer is wrong. The pitman arm is a separate part that is attached to the spline shaft and secured with a lock washer and nut.
  2. If you had digital, assist you would see a computer (ECM) type box attached to it. Looks like you do not have it
  3. Did you order your pisk yet? I bought a kit but never used it if your interested. PISK-3008
  4. They have to replace the pitman arm because the new box does not come with it. The GM techs are advised to replace the pitman arm with a new box.
  5. I'm currently looking at bypassing the digital steering and going with a non-digital type. Studying the wiring schematics to fix this problem. My truck is not covered under warranty for this specific problem anyway.
  6. My old box had play but once engaged to start turning it was super hard to turn, almost like the gears were binding. My new box has 200 miles on it and it already feels loose. Weird thing is, the adjuster nut has not moved at all.
  7. mine did not come with a new pitman arm, so instead of re-using the old one so I ordered a new one. I've always been told you should not reuse Pitman arms
  8. I just installed my new steering box today, so far so good after a really good test drive. I marked the top adjuster nut and Allen screw with paint to keep tabs on it if it decides to start loosening up. Also marked the pitman arm for good measure. It was a rather easy swap, a bit time consuming because of the lack of space to work in there but still pretty easy overall. My new box has a GM 12 month warranty since it is an over the counter purchase.
  9. I just want the pre 2016 steering box (if that were possible). This problem is a complete joke. If GM cannot recognize this is a widespread problem and won't initiate a recall at some point then I will have lost any desire to keep this truck.
  10. Do you happen to have the part number of the new steering box (gear)?
  11. They won't touch my truck. They took one look at it and said they would not even ask the regional tech.Bummed, but I am a builder/fabricator so not afraid to do the work, just can't believe a 70k 3/4 ton truck is having such major problems. I only have 10k miles and this problem started BEFORE I lifted it.
  12. So I just got the OEM steering box, new part #84224694 from GM. Hoping this is revised from my original.
  13. I should use the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act but I do not have time to haggle with them. At least this part is considered an "over the counter" part, so if it fails it is under warranty no matter what aftermarket parts the vehicle has installed.
  14. That is the same part # I ordered....whew... I am hoping this really does fix the issue. To remedy the play a bit further, I ordered a pitman and idler support kit from Cognito. Glad your steering is working good so far
