  1. The thing is I can't remember noticing this any other winter... I do tend to notice things like battery charge/engine temp etc. Thanks!
  2. Hi guys, I've got a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 and recently this winter I have noticed that when it gets "cold" i.e. anything roughly 45 degrees or below the temp gauge doesn't quite get to center. It stays roughly 1 dash below center even after allowing the truck to fully warm up. During my commute which is on city streets it doesn't warm up all of the way. I have included a picture to demonstrate what I am seeing. I cannot remember this ever happening before although I am reluctant to take it in if there is anything I can do on my end to fix it. Does anyone know of any TSB's out there that might address this issue? I have done some searching on the forum but nothing seems to quite replicate this. Most of the TSB's seem to involve radiator issues if i'm not mistaken? Also this picture is taken when it is 10 degrees outside. Anyway, thanks for all of your help! Keep Trucking!
  3. anybody know how much a cleaning would cost?
  4. Hey Guys, Has anyone had to clean their intake runners yet? I know that with the DI injectors there can be an issue with carbon fouling as the miles rack up. Has anyone had a problem with this and had to have it cleaned yet? Ive got about 35K on my truck right now. Thanks!
  5. when is blackbear in town to do a tune? any other companies that tune the 8-speeds?
  6. what type of fluid? exact model number?
  7. what type of fluid should we use then? specific weight and type
  8. mook its honestly 95% better so I never took it to the other dealer. i dont have that much time in my day. Im taking off for a whole week in mid april over good friday so i might meander my way into the other dealer then to take a look at it. as far as the bilsteins they are firmer but also not firmer. its tough to explain. hitting speed bumps the truck doesn't bottom out like it used to which would make it seem like it is softer however you feel more minor road imperfections which would make you think that they are firmer, its not harsh at all. very little body roll compared to the stock ranchos and almost zero squat or dive. honestly it drives like a 50K truck should have from the factory. money well spent in my opinion.
  9. after my most recent software update it is def better but i still think im feeling the TC issue. I'm just sick and tired of dinking around with this... on a seperate and totally unrelated note i installed bilsteins 5100's on all 4 corners and it handles like a dream now!
  10. imagine a rough road/ rumble strip/ surging/ misfiring feeling that goes away when you back off of the gas. thats my impression anyway
  11. update: seems to drive ok but i swear i still feel like its slipping a little bit at steady state throttle and i feel that the only people who know what I'm talking about are those who have experienced it. Ill give it a few days and report back. the downshifting coming to a stop is way better but I'm not sure if thats because the truck is back in its learn mode... any help here guys?
  12. hopefully the 3rd software update is the charm! But I'm not holding my breath...
  13. just got a call from the SA. said they did some sort of adaptive relearn for the tranny and that there was some incorrect software loaded into the transfer case. correct me if im wrong but the transfer case is only utilized to engage 4 wheel drive... we shall see if this works and if it doesnt ive already spoken with another dealership who is very familiar with the issues surrounding the torque converter. i will keep everybody updated.
  14. If they replace the TC do they also replace this Stator Shaft that others have talked about? Seems like that is also a problem?
  15. Thanks! I am expecting a call from them sometime this morning. I won't hold my breath... Trouble is I work in Ft. Myers and my truck is at the dealership in naples where I live so it makes it tough to go down there and really raise he11 because i have to be at work...
  16. haha well ya never know... i just went out and bought 4 bilstein 5100's so this thing had better get fixed!
  17. Just got a call from the service adviser and they said that they were checking to see if there is another 8 digit software update code and the truck only gives them the option to enter one digit of the 8 digit code... so now they need to pass this up to GM tech or whatever. are they idiots? am i an idiot? am i crazy? her words were we want to make sure that its not the TC shudder and check and see if there is a problem with the engine control module and the transmission control module not communicating before we give it back to you. did they just "brick" my truck? this is almost funny its pissing me off so much. oh and i forgot to mention ive had problems with this truck from within the first 3 months. after roughly 3 months of ownership it had to go into the shop 4 times for blowing fuel injectors, first the shop (in wisconsin) tried to blame me using non top tier gas. i told them to go shove it. after going in for the same problem of lunching fuel injectors 3 more times they replaced the ENTIRE fuel system which seemed to have fixed that specific problem. i was within a week of lemon lawwing the vehicle. 18. Thanks! I hope I do get it resolved. As a show of how much i like the rest of the truck i ordered two sets of Bilstein 5100's this afternoon
  19. what about a quality shop rebuilding this transmission?
  20. i have a chevy malibu as a loaner and i was thinking the same thing. remarkable how smooth it shifts! makes me want to go all carrie underwood on my truck and leave it on GM's front doorstep.... i think im going to go to battle over this. we'll see who wins!
  21. Thanks Stingray. I actually have this printed off right now. The service adviser said that they would call me this morning to come and pick it up. No call. I called them an hour ago and left a message for my SA. If/when she does call me back I will email her this document and the link and get them to take a harder look at it. i want to tear my hair out. Do you think it matters that mine is a 5.3 not a 6.2?
  22. how do i make them replace the TC? argh this is so frustrating
  23. would a tune help at all? I am actually looking at Fords website and thinking about switching... but like i said im not made of money...
  24. so after being told on saturday that they were going to replace it they had the trans tech drive for "20" miles and he could not replicate the problem... I wanted to trough my phone! i told her look i am not making this stuff up and this is what she told me, "well if you feather the throttle the transmission and engine computer can't talk to each other and that will cause it to judder" i was very polite and told her that i do not believe it. what a crappy piece of engineering... at this point IDK what I'm going to do. I'm not made of money and really wanted to keep this truck for a long time. What is the next step here guys? I'm not crazy and this is really starting to piss me off.
