  1. Thanks for letting me know before I wasted my time. Are you feeling it more in the front end in the steering wheel and pedals? I'm getting it at speeds of 25mph and up.
  2. Has anyone checked or replaced motor mounts? I am in the process of filming more angles of my driveline and have noticed an exceptional amount of movement in the motor and trans as well as a vibrating movement at cruising speeds.
  3. Don't stop what you're doing. The time you have spent documenting and creating these videos is going to help everyone out more than you think. Its all about creating exposure to the problem. I can understand whole heartedly your frustration and how angry you get when they tell you it is within spec and all that BS but if you quit, they win. I went through the picoscope process where they mounted it to the rear seat, did one drive and said everything was within spec. Then I drove with the shop manager and he said he definitely felt it, then after a day and them contacting GM I was again told to come pick it up and its within spec. Right now I am dealing with a different dealership who is more willing to help when I show them proof of the issues mechanically. I would suggest to everyone to mount the GoPro underneath the vehicle and try to catch the drive train bouncing around or something to that effect to where they cannot deny it being an issue.
  4. So at this point i have: 1 - Rebuilt an entirely new deiveshaft with spicer joints 2 - Replaced wheels and tires, went back to stock rims with new tires with 5 alignments and balances 3 - Had the poorly manufactured rear axles replaced 4 - Shimmed the rear end 2 - 4 degrees both ways 5 - Replaced front hubs and bearings 6 - Replaced front CV axel shafts (4x4) 7 - Shimmed the front differential then back to stock 8 - Installed Fox Coilovers, Rears and upper control arms then back to stock 9 - Re-torqued rear axle U-bolts 10 - Installed lowering shackles then back to stock Plus a handful of other wishful thinking ideas that have come across the internet and with everything replaced and done I have had little to no resolution. If anything it has seem to move the vibrations to where they feel more forward in the truck. As of right now it feels like my steering is failing and sloppy but is still relative to the driveline based on being exacerbated under heavy torque load and freeway speeds. I would like to know if anyone has explored options outside of what I have don't so I can eliminate wasting more time and money. I still feel that it is something in the transmission or front differential.
  5. That is what I was thinking as well but I did check them and they are legit. I'm just going to keep filming and finding more cheap Hecho en Mexico parts out of spec and keep having them replace this junk until I get a buyback or lemon law. Like I said, as soon as I showed the dealership the video, they jumped on it. The service manager told me that the video for him was perfect, they have been having a really hard time having GM pay for the poorly manufactured parts so the more evidence you bring the better.
  6. Yes I do. Felt through more of the front end of my truck, steering wheel, brake pedals, floor boards and center console. But if you can show them the video and get it in writing like I have you will have a better shot with a buy back or lemon law which is the route I am going. Its a big expensive issue and I think if there is a recall of some sorts it will cost a ton of money. It felt somewhat better at the time but last weekend I drove 160 miles to Palm Springs and it literally felt like my motor, trans or front suspension was going to fall off.
  7. I had great success with the dealership replacing mine after I showed them the videos that I had taken. Its worth a shot with it being a manufactured issue.
  8. Picked up my truck last night from the dealership and wouldnt you know it, no difference. If there was any difference it is ever so slight. Now i need to jack up my truck and look at the "new" axles that were installed just to check. Im starting to believe that its the transmission, I have replaced axles/bearings, tires, adjusted pinion angles, built new driveshaft, lifted then lowered my truck and it still feels like a POS. Funny too because the service manager that helped me at the dealership drives a new F-150 haha, go figure.
  9. Update After taking my truck in Monday and showing them the out of round axles, I just got a call from the dealership who to my surprise completely agree with me that they are poorly manufactured and are installing new ones as well as bearings. I should have my truck back today. Just a little amazed that i got absolutely no push back at all. Hopefully it fixes my issues.
  10. Is there any way you can set something up to see if your bolt pattern is following the hub flange? I am curious to see if the bolt pattern is offset as well.
  11. I ended up taking it to the dealership first to see what they said. I showed them the video I made of the axle deflection and they said the axles were trash. Then I pointed out the window to the 2015 Silverado sitting out there which I also explained that they just had in there for the same issue 2 weeks prior, and suddenly their attitude changed. Trying to tell me I must have bent the axles haha. I explained that I would have blown out the tires and folded my rims before the axles would have bent. So right now they are doing some investigating and on the side the service writer explained to me that its been very difficult to get GM to pay for these issues so he has to get a lot of information first so it doesn't come out of their pocket.
  12. After seeing all these lates posts I put my truck on jack stands, disassembled my rear and and spun the rear end. To my surprise my rear axel hubs are about 1/4" out of round and deflect in and out a strong 1/8". My concern with taking it to the dealership is wasting time and money arguing with them to fix it. I know with the amount of issues stacking up on these trucks the dealerships push back pretty hard for the simple fact that GM is refusing to reimburse them on the poor quality parts without "safety" issues. I want to just take it to a reputable shop to have repaired but my fear is with having so many miles driven on the truck in this condition there are going to be more issues inside the rear end due to the axles ripping it apart.
  13. That's what I need to check this weekend then take it back to the shop that built me the new driveshaft. It has become extremely tiresome having to spend so much time and money on a new truck, I know I am preaching to the choir but shit! I wanted to buy this truck out and keep for a long time but here I am taking a huge hit and cant even sell it just due to the fact that I'm not the type of person to pawn off a lemon to someone. Not to mention its a little embarrassing that the paint is flaking off of a 2 year old truck and recently I have heard that our AC condensers are about to take a dump and you'll end up on a 6+ month waiting list.
  14. Where are you feeling the vibration and how bad is it? I had the same issues with them balancing and what not, also telling me my stock tires had flat spots so last week I bought all brand new tires with no change. After replacing my driveshaft the "hopping" vibration is gone but I'm down to a more "rumbling / light grinding" vibration mostly felt in the steering wheel and pedals. Under heavy acceleration its amplified but also present at cruising speeds and decelerating on the brakes lightly from freeway speeds I can feel it in the brake pedal. Also I can feel like the front suspension is loose with a light thumping sound when I roll over minor imperfections in the road especially around 45mph. My 2015 truck just feels like I have 200k + miles on it and its just worn out.
  15. I have the one piece aluminum driveshaft. I had FOX Factory coilovers, rears, Mazzulla uppers on 34" tires as well, had to pull everything off just to get the dealership to look at it. I tried 2 - 4 degree shims both ways, spring clamps, lowering shackles and all that nonsense with zero change. I'm out in the Ventura area so I went to driveshaft pros in Ventura, formerly Coast Driveline. One thing I did notice as well is in my video it seems like the transmission mount is very spongy, might be worth swapping out for a harder poly mount? Other than getting into the rear end to check tolerances my next guess would maybe be engine mounts.
  16. Results were noticeably better, id say about 80% better. The shop I took it to was completely surprised that they used a thin .125" wall aluminum tube which was definitely causing the flexing in the shaft. With that being said I feel that there is still a more underlying problem and with the new straight 5" OD .25" wall beefcake driveshaft I had built it eliminated a lot of the vibrations exacerbated by the flimsy stock shaft. This weekend I'm going to check the rear axel assemblies for out of round tolerances and if I do or don't find an issue there, the shop that built my new driveshaft are on board with helping me tear into the rear end as well to check for issues. I have at this point completely given up on GM and just want a properly operating truck at this point. But I would definitely suggest to you to set up a camera underneath your truck or remove it and take it to a reputable shop just to have it spun and see what you're dealing with. Note that this is the second time I had my driveshaft spun and the first time it wasn't ever balanced not was it straight and true. GM will not help you even with evidence of a defective product.
  17. In regards to the pico scan, I like you, was unable to get a readout from the dealership. I also found it peculiar that they mounted it to the rear seat and called it a day. I explained it was mostly felt through the steering wheel and pedals, even had the service manager agree on the test drive but a day later after leaving my vehicle he seemed to have gotten amnesia after speaking with the higher ups and retracted his statement. At this point in time after mounting my GoPro underneath the truck I can see clear as day the driveshaft at the transmission side is dancing around and even flexing under load pulling the rear of the transmission along with it. I removed my driveshaft and took it to a reputable driveline shop and he explained to me that the overall design of the driveshaft is junk. As well as it not being balanced, it is way out of spec in regards to straightness and is even oval shaped. With the swedge design at the ends of the shaft the out of round high and low spots as well don't even match up with the highs and lows on the main 5" section. There is no way to fix it and have a legitimate shop warranty it so I pulled the trigger and have them building me a new 5" straight shaft with spicer joints for $650. I am picking it up this afternoon and will follow up if its a successful story.
  18. I had that slip yoke issue on my 08' and rear end went out twice. You can definitely see the transmission jumping and moving with the driveshaft and was considering maybe using a stiffer energy suspension type mount. I just feel like there is a whole lot going on just by looking at my video like the soft mount, out of balance shaft, heard that the aluminum shaft sidewalls are particularly thin which would explain the flexing as well as it looking out of round just to begin with.
  19. Out of curiosity, i put a gopro underneath my truck in a number of locations. I found that at the front of the driveshaft (transmission side) it bounces and flexes all over the place and looks like its moving through the transmission. I feel like the design as well as the quality of the driveshaft is creating the issues with seeing it actually flex a lot under torque load and appears to not even be round in slow motion. For the people who have dealt successfully with the dealerships, would it be wise to bring video evidence to the table when i talk to them, or just play stupid and let them balance my tires for the 15th time just to get a response?
  20. Has anyone had GM do anything other than replace and or road force balance tires? Im reading through Service Bulleting PI1354C and it has all kinds of means and methods to diagnose the vibration issues. I.E. pico scope on the seats or steering wheel, drive shaft runout, 4x4 diff shims, exhaust, body mounts, driveline angles etc....?
  21. Just an FYI it is not your tires. Its the GMs way to go the cheapest route to say they are trying to fix it. I tried 3 different rim/tire sets with the same vibrations and put my OEs on another truck and it was smooth as glass.
  22. In my particular case I noticed the bed was shimmying while driving and with no help I took my driveshaft to a specialist shop who found it was not only out of balance at the rear but not even straight. That managed to take the wheel hopping issue from the rear away but its now coming from somewhere in the front through the steering wheel and pedals. Feels like trans of front diff issues. I notice you have aftermarket wheels and tires with a possible level kit? I had Mazzulla uppers, Fox coilovers and rears, wheels and tires and they straight up turned me away FYI stating that my warranty was void and any vibrations felt were because of the aftermarket parts. I talked to GM corporate and they agreed that even changing wheels and tires that my 100,000 mile 5 year powertrain warranty was no longer good. I had asked if by their standards that I would have to keep the OE tires for 100,000 miles and the guy told me yes. That's when I laughed and realized that I would receive no help at all. My advice would be to put on your OE equipment before going down the never ending road just incase they decide to put a note on the paper work that you modified your truck or just turn you away wasting your time.
  23. Already on my way old wise one!
  24. That's great! but 731+ pages of issues stands for something. As well as transmission, front differential and vibration issues, my 2 year old truck has paint flaking off it for no particular reason which is yet another problem. My dad as well has a 2016 and at 8,000 miles he lost the top end of his motor due to defects. Its good you have a good one but don't dog on the many with defective GM vehicles with issues that are well documented.
  25. So it seems like the general consensus of this thread is we have been had by buying over priced foreign built GM vehicles with a never ending list of poorly built, engineered and a lack of a QC program vehicles. From the wheels, brakes, cv axels, 4x4 differential, rear-ends, drive shafts, transmissions, steering linkage, motor mounts, cab mounts, frame supports, exhaust components, U-joints, roof panels to general motor failures that lead to vibration issues it seems no matter how you cut it, GM will not assist in any way generally because its going to cost money. Only until another catastrophe happens the best bet is to try to get out of the vehicles without getting bent over with finances and move far away from GM until they get their act together. Its sad but to avoid the raised blood pressure and frustration of driving a rambling $50k pig down the road day to day is worth much more than to try to fight with a bloated government backed corporation who cares nothing about quality. HECHO IN MEXICO!!!
