  1. Has anyone else used the Rough Country Speedometer Calibrator that Randy did? I called Rough Country but the tech on the phone stated that their Speedo Calibrator does not change anything in the EBCM. Instead it only changes the tire size in the ECM to calibrate the speedometer. 2017 model trucks may be different but at lease for 2013 (nnbs) the tire size settings that effect the Traction Control and Stabilitrac are set in the EBCM. This is different and unrelated to the settings in the ECM.
  2. I have a 2013 GMC Sierra Crew Cab and have been through two different lifts, 6” RCD and now 6” BDS. Both with 35x12.5 Toyo MTs and 18x9 rims with 4.5” backspacing. With both kits we tried different positioning (lowering) of the sway bar which also means different size end links to stiffen up any roll. This had no effect on the false positive Traction Control and Stabikitrak activations. Have you tried narrower rims? I can’t remember if a rim with a smaller backspacing was tried on my truck but the lift companies never had anything to say about it. To this day I still have to rely on my KP Technologies Traction Control Module to turn off my Traction Control and Stabilitrak each time I start the truck. No aftermarket programmer that I know of to reprogram the EBCM on these trucks.
  3. Jim - I have a 2013 1500 6” bds lift with 35x12.5r18. I know my model is different but for mine at least (Bosch EBCM) the Speedo calibration has effect because the EBCM has its own setting for tire size that only the dealership can change. No aftermarket programmer to change the EBCM. Your EBCM may be different, possibly made by TRW instead of Bosch. In regards to lean I tried mounting the sway bar differently to stiffen things up with no resolution.
  4. Did you ever install the new re-designed spindles that BDS sent you? I was wondering if that helped your Stabilitrak issue...

Correct about the ECM and TCM but I was talking about the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module). This module also has settings related to tire size and controls the Traction Control and Stabilitrak. The EBCM can only be flashed/programmed by a Tech2 at the dealership. It is in the EBCM that the problem starts.

For now I found a really nice memory module made by KP Technologies. FM-20 "Flexible Memory Module". I plugged this into my TC on/off button harness and if I turn off Stabiltrak by holding the button for 8 seconds this module will remember and replicate that every time I get in the truck. This way I don't have to hold the button each time I start the truck.

Really where did you get that module.  Does it keep the stabilitrac off even after you go above 35mph?

http://www.kptechnologies.com Look for their Flexible Memory Module under Traction control. "FM-20"... $49.99

The small Traction Control light on the dash stays on 24/7 now indicating that Traction control and Stabilitrak are off.

  5. I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 6" BDS Lift. I also have Stabilitrak issues. I have been through the same trials as many of the other users have described. Tire size reprogramming, multiple alignments, Steering sensor zero, different tires, different wheel offsets, etc. I even tried changing the mounting of the sway bars to limit roll. I started out with a RCD lift and after fighting with that company for months they offered me untested replacement spindles that I found out they were getting from BDS. Instead of continuing with them I took the lift off and put on a full BDS lift. The results were better but unfortunately I still have false positive activations of the Stabilitrak. I believe this to be a problem with the programming in the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) not to be confused with the ECM (Engine Control Module). The ECM can be easily reprogrammed with any number of programmers. Changing tire size in the ECM only effects the speedometer. Unfortunately there is not a way to get into the EBCM that controls ABS, Traction Control, and Stabilitrak. As far as I know a programmer for this has not been made other than what the Dealer has. Even then, the programming for these are only stock preloads and of course the Dealers wont touch this issue. For a while I was turning off Stabilitrak by holding the TC button for 8 seconds each and every time I got in the truck. I later found a product made by KP Technologies. It is the FM-20 and they call it their Flexible Memory Module. This unit turns off Stabilitrak for me every time I get in the truck. I connected this to my TC button harness and if I turn off Stabilitrak by pushing in the TC button this module remembers how long I held in the button to do this for me every time I start my truck. This way I don't have to pull the ABS fuse and I can have Traction Control and Stabilitrak both off and still have ABS. I am still hoping at some point someone will find or develop a better solution.
