  1. Well I got the truck back today and they claimed nothing was wrong just an extra half a quart of oil no gas smell.... The two techs that diagnosed and originally took it in ran away and didn't come out till I was leaving, they changed the oil and said bring it back in a thousand miles and they will look it over again. The lady tried to tell me gas and oil also smell the same..... they brushed me off like nothing. Awesome to see how amazing GM customer service is.
  2. I hope it is for all of you, if so I have no clue what is going on with mine and I am quite upset since a three month old truck with a sticker north of 56k and not even 8500 miles. I would be concerned with all the trucks and the vast mileage range this is popping up at, it could be some bring it back in ever 10-50 thousand miles for the same issue and just wait till it happens again out of warranty. $$$$$$$$

  4. You should notice it drop from when your driving then come to a stop and are sitting there then when you drive it will increase to around 40 and if you go over 3500 rpm it will kick into high pressure mode and run anywhere from 60-80+.

  6. mine was normally at 35 and dropped to 30 before it went in.
  7. I took it in for an oil over fill and the heated seats wont come on with remote start, pulled it into the bay and they pulled the dipstick and instantly smelt gas. I was given an unlimited mile loaner and nothing else was said just I would get a call later.
  8. I only had the truck for 3 months so I can't say, it started at about 6000 miles and at 8200 started getting worse.

  10. No codes the only thing is my oil pressure gauge started running 5 lbs lower at operating temp. After driving this loaner they gave me my truck was way down on power.
  11. Yes slight is normal, mine smelt like you were standing over an open gas can and I have a feeling the condensation was gas that was splashing on the back of the cap. The tech smelt the gas as soon as he pulled my dip stick didn't even have to put it by his nose it was that strong.
  12. Also look at your oil cap and see if it has any condensation and if it smells like gas.
  13. Has been really good for my driving 3 mpg over my r@m didn't really notice a change around this time just slight fluctuation like i normally get. Completely disappointed wish I had my last silverado back. Thank gosh my dealer is amazing!!!
  14. Just based on the reading off the dipstick there had to have been 1-3 quarts of gas in the oil, the truck has had all service done by this dealer and nothing else. I've only had it three months and am extremely regretting not getting the 2500 diesel, needless to say this truck will be going back for a new one.
  15. 8262 miles, mine sounded like an exhaust leak and can only be heard when driving just like everyone else had been saying, just today it started doing it all the time in v8 or v4 and with the gas smell today I decided to take it into a different dealer again (original one where I got the truck from). The new one I got as a rental has no tick and is completely normal.
  16. Well I have an update for you all with my truck. I checked the oil and I was way overfilled and it smelt like gas, took the truck in to the dealer tonight and It looks like I'm getting a whole new motor. The motor is blowing gas all throughout it mixed with gas and you don't hear the tick when it is warming up because the oil is thick enough once it thins out at operating temp the gas mixing with it washes most of the oil off and the ticking is metal on metal contact of valves cams push rods etc. I'll keep everyone updated about how things are going but check for gas in the oil.
  17. I think earlier on this thread or at least another one on here someone had the whole drivers side valves done and it was still there. At this point I'm almost positive at this point it is electrical.
  18. It could, the electric load running through the wire or relay would most likely increase under load and right before transition to v8. If something was changed and made of a lesser quality the tick could occur from that.

Ram had an issue with their headlights the supplier switched the wire after testing to save money but the new wire cant support full load resulting in a dimmer output, at this point with all the work that people have had done and all the replaced parts and the tick is still there, and in almost all v8's from the trucks to suvs even the corvettes I'm almost willing to put money on the issue is a wire harness or relay under that dash that was changed after testing that causes this tick when the load is in the extremes of its capacity.
  20. I am almost wondering if it's some sort of sensor or wiring connection relay that causes this. Maybe it has a hard time supporting electric load right before switch over or under heavy v4 load, and as a result it causing a tick (this is just a theory). Could be tucked up under the dash and not even in the engine bay at all.
  21. My truck is the same thing any time in v4 once hot around 1500-1800 rpms. A metallic sound or a sewing machine is what it sounds like to me.

  23. Any updates on fixes for this tick. I have a 2018 GMC slt all terrain 5.3 I get the ticking once the engine is up to operating temp. Very noticeable in v4 and occasionally in v8, took it to the dealer they replaced the vacuum pump because it was leaking but claimed they couldn't replicated the noise. Hopefully someone has a fix by now.
