  1. evening, I have a 2018 Sierra 1500 4x4 w/6speed tranny, was hit on the right rear, between the tire and rear crew cab door at 4K miles. Dealer replaced right axle, wheel bearing and seal ring and pinion set up, had to fight insurance to replace the entire housing, but they agreed. Now at 24k miles and the rear diff sounds like my Ford Super Duty 450 w/ 350k miles, it’s howling on deceleration . Took it back snd dealer says oh a shim backed out, they said they replaced ring/pinion set up, said everything. I questioned if wheel bearings and outer seals were changed, nope, 20 year tech said didn’t need it. My long winded question : shouldn’t every bearing and internally lubricated part have been changed? I asked for a sample of the oil for an independent evaluation at Napa, but they say they mistakenly dumped it all into the reclamation vat. I haven’t picked the truck up yet. Any advice? Repairs are being covered under original Powertrain warranty- this time. and my apologies if I’m posting in the wrong venue.
  2. You will definitely have to overlook the lack of contrast control at night because there is no alternative, there is no adjustment in settings. My main complaint is that you cannot control the contrast, and try to navigate using the back up camera day or night when its raining. Impossible to safely rely on the camera. If Toyota can manage to install a much superior camera system than GM something is wrong in Detroit!!
  3. Night time rain really SUCKS!! It is a contrast issue with the rear camera-not the display screen. I hate to say it but we own a 16' Toyota Camry and in the display menu the contrast and color can be adjusted, oh yes, the Toyota rear cam even works beautifully in the rain. Factory setting on the Yota blazed the screen with glaring white color at night, adjusted the contrast now its perfectly clear in the darkest areas and the color is better than factory default too. We should be able to go into the settings on the GM's and adjust the contrast- just like Toyota , I'm sure there are other brands with adjustable contrast/color as well. Now how do we get GM to take notice and fix this? I am speaking of a 2018 GMC SLT , and yes the cameras are progressively getting worse= cheaper for GM. We have run GM trucks since 1965, and have noticed since the advent of OEM rear cameras they are getting crappier as each model year rolls out.
