  1. Yes, that I know, and have had to buy several sets as 9 and 10 stripped out after the 90 degree potion, which means new bolts.
  2. Yes, I did as it was the only thing I could find relating to directly what I was seeking. I did not see the answer though, so sorry if I missed it. It was worded exactly what I needed.
  3. I'm looking for the correct torque specifications for the heads on the aluminum block L33. All I can find are generic specs for the 5.3, which are 22 ft-lbs initial pass, then 90 degrees on the second pass, then another 70 degrees on the third pass. This seems like WAY too much torque for an aluminum block. I say this because I have had 2 stripped out block holes (#9, and #10), not the bolt itself and then a snapped #1 but I believe that is due to a weak bolt not over tightening as it snapped at 55-60 degrees on the last pass.
  4. Thanks bud. This worked beautifully. I forgot it was not reusable. Again thanks for the help.
  5. It is in the truck, I would hve pulled the motor if i was going to rebuild the whole thing. But since I'm only rebuilding the top end, I figure I'd leave it in.
  6. So I have tried to remove this harmonic balancer off of the crankshaft for literally 4 hours. The rod that goes into the center of the bolt and into where the crankshaft bolt was, is about 1.5 inches too short. So I went and picked up some 5/16 standard steel round, cut to the length that I need and gave it a try. This steel was rated for min 36,000 yield max 80,000 yield. The puller bent it like it was licorice (see below). Then I figured, i will get it red hot and then anneal it to strengthen it. That got bent no problem either. For some reason this balancer is on way tight, and I would really appreciate some help here. Thank you in advance for whatever suggestions you have, even if I have tried it before.
  7. Can you point me in the direction I should go? Like I said, cams are a very new thing to me.
  8. So is that not compatible? Tech support at summit suggested that one.
  9. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-12561721/ Tell me what you think about this one.
  10. You didn't read the whole OP I'm guessing as I mentioned I need to pass smog and I live in CALIFORNIA
  11. Hello, I am doing a DoD/AFM delete and was hoping to get a little more power by upgrading my cam, though I am new to understanding how to read the numbers that are typically listed. The crap part is that I live in California and have to pass emissions, so it makes it a little difficult. Can anyone help guide me along in this process? This is on a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ 5.3L V8
