  1. Yeah the dealership wants to try to delay you as long as possible from doing a refi. This is because after a certain number of months and miles, the refi bank will treat it as a used vehicle refi, and won't finance the full MSRP, only the blue book value which would be much lower. This would prevent anyone who made a small down payment from doing a full refi, and thus lock them into that high interest loan for a few years at least, while the dealership collects the kickbacks.
  2. Sorry that happened -- for anyone else in this situation, you can call GM Financial to get your account and payoff information. Not sure what the soonest is you can do that; I did it after 8 days and my CU overnighted the refi check to them that day.
  3. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/25/chevy-is-working-on-what-could-be-the-first-pickup-to-top-100000.html 2020 Silverado 3500 HD High Country, stickered at $102,535... OTD for $38,530 and a lightly used iPhone 6. LOL... GM is hilarious with their sticker prices, like no other. Can't believe there are any people out there that pay ""MSRP"".
  4. No I don't think you understand --- you can both take the rebate, then immediately turn around and refi at a much lower rate. In my case I got a $6000 rebate tied to GM Financial, kept it, and did a refi 8 days after I bought the truck. Went from 6% to 3%. I do not need to give back the rebate. Maybe your contract says something different, but mine says no prepayment penalty, and nowhere did I have to sign something requiring me to pay the GM loan for 90 days.
  5. Pretty sure you can refi day one with no penalty. I did. Here in California it's pre-printed on the standard sales contracts that there is no prepayment penalty.
  6. Yeah for a Pacifica Hybrid it’s a great deal. Because there are so many government rebates dealers don’t discount them much. All my local dealers acted as if they were the ones giving me the rebates instead of my tax dollars, and I should be plenty thrilled to pay them sticker. I shopped a lot. Truecar pricing came close.
  7. Nope. When I bought my Chevy, I called ahead and gave them the vin of the truck I wanted to look at. When I arrived they had it pulled up to the front of the showroom with a full tank already in it. Pretty classy. This FCA dealership I was at was like the Walmart of dealerships. Very high volume, very big discounts, thus very low margin. So I get that every dollar counts. And I bought a $50k minivan, the dealer gave me $6k, Chrysler another $2k, and I’ll get a combined $11800 in federal, state, and local government and power company rebates because it’s a plug in electric hybrid. So $30k for a $50k car. What am I complaining about right? (They didn’t charge the battery for me either.)
  8. This was a Chrysler. Doesn’t surprise me at all from FCA.
  9. Yeah. Picked up the car today, and after leaving the dealer noticed it only had a quarter tank of gas. Texted the sales guy guy to let him know they forgot to fill the tank. Apparently they only include 4 gallons with the purchase. I have bought many cars and it’s the first time I didn’t get a full tank. Pretty annoying, even if petty. They gave me a ridiculously cheap price on the car though, so I guess I’m still ahead.
  10. Just bought a Chrysler and got a rebate for using their financing. The sales manager said I just needed to make at least 4 payments with them. When I made a point of confirming there was no prepayment penalty and that I had to do no such thing, he literally said, “Come on, you have to let us make at least some money on this deal!” They had discounted the van very heavily, I think relying on financing and other add-ons to make a profit.
  11. Yeah it would be a little higher over 72 months. Here in central California, I use two credit unions, one is at 3.99 for 84 months, and the other is at 3.49. I actually just bought a car for my wife a couple weeks ago and am going to refi into one of the credit unions, and my guy there told me to wait until July 1st because they'll be lowering their rates, I'm not sure how much.
  12. I think it would be worth looking into a new credit union. Yours is not competitive. A CU auto loan with good credit should be in the 3% range.
  13. If you can do that, I think you are in a shrinking minority. Most people nowadays are like me, I don't have the time, space, or let alone skill. That's why my trucks get traded in when the warranty runs out, usually 100k miles and about two and a half years.
  14. I think it has to do with all the sensors on the body of the vehicle. Someone taps your bumper, and what would have been a $1500 repair is now a $5000 repair. All the lane departure radar and cameras and stuff.
  15. I was talking to a body shop owner the other day... he was saying that’s going to get harder and harder to do with these modern vehicles. There is too much tech, they are going to end up being like computers where after 10 years the costs to fix all that complex stuff is going to make the vehicles unfeasible to keep.
  16. Seeing prices like this, as much as people complain about sticker prices going up, a truck like that is one heck of a great value for under $40k, let alone $36k and change. You really get a lot of truck for your money.
  17. I bought a Chrysler Pacifica for my wife last week. Dealer offered such steep discounts, they were clearly trying to make their money from financing, extended warranties, etc. I got rebates for Chrysler financing at 6.61%. I was not taking any of their expensive add-ons. The sales manager tried to tell me I needed to make at least 4 payments to Chrysler. I asked him to show me where on the paperwork it said that. Of course he couldn’t, it’s literally preprinted on the California forms that there is no penalty for early payoff. He straight up said, “come on, you need to let us make money off this somehow.” No I don’t.
  18. I was going for level with a Motofab kit that was supposed to be 2" front and 1" rear. Motofab said they were good for the 2019... but I guess they did not realize that the 2019 does not have a stock 1" rear block to remove like the k2. So I got a 2" front and back, and still have a 1" rake. But I'm actually really happy with how it looks. Rake looks much better without the nose so low to the ground. (The first pic is earlier, before I installed rear wheelwell liners. They make a huge difference in the look of a truck when lifted, especially white ones.)
  19. I need this overcomplicated feature in my pickup truck like I need a horn growing out of my head. What happens when you need to replace the pads, are they now like quadruple the price to get that silly wire? Would rather they have left this alone, and not tried to save a few dollars by removing the glasses compartment from the overhead, and the adjustable seatbelt shoulder mount, both of which have been standard on every new car I've bought since the mid-90s.
  20. Here's mine... 40/64 after just 45 days of ownership and 5532 mostly highway miles. Really blowing through brakes on this thing... Anyone go in to a dealer and get any feedback yet about this? I'm about to go in for my first oil change and will ask about it.
  21. Around here the Ford dealers don't give much anyway. Makes Fords a lot more expensive for what you get. Just went car shopping for the wife this weekend, looking for a minivan. Being used to Chevy, I'm expecting there to be $10-12k on the hood to take off the sticker price. Apparently not so with the Hondas and the Toyotas of the world. Getting a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Only $2000 mfg rebate and $6000 dealer discount. BUT here in California they really want us to buy plug-in hybrids. Getting $7500 federal tax credit, $2500 state rebate, $2000 from the local air district, and another $800 from PG&E -- total $11,800 in addition to the $8000 off the sticker price. DEAL!
  22. Indeed! Like those old school metal curb feelers, but for the top. I'm a little nervous about my new truck in parking garages as well.
  23. Not sure how it is up there, but here in California it's not just trucks either. Went to Panera for lunch with my Dad today, $27 for the 2 of us. Went to the movies this weekend and paid $17, for one child's admission to a matinee. Don't even get me started on my wife's Starbucks tab. And folks thought they'd be living large with their higher minimum wage. My 2019 LT was only about a thousand more otd than my 2017 LT, but missing a very long list of little things that used to be included at that trim and price.
  24. If it hasn't been put into service yet, they are still selling it as a new truck, right? So you should be able to get all the rebates and everything with it? I think the biggest question is, what's it worth to you? Maybe 10% off what you would pay for the same new truck? If they meet your number, do it, if not, get a new one. I would check with some other dealers on the new truck pricing though, they may inflate what they would sell you a new truck for to make the demo look like a better deal.
  25. Wow, good to know it's so easy, sound like you can finance the whole thing then? Maybe I'll do that on the next go around. Probably hard for them to keep up with all the various taxes and fees they keep tacking on here in CA. My annual registration bills have been getting ridiculous lately.
