  1. Curiously, jhow do up like the RAM?
  2. Just had the truck back again- this time, the camera goes on the screen each time you come to a complete stop. How annoying is that?
  3. Honestly, instead of researching the market as one would expect before buying a $60k+ truck, I bought the Silverado from my nephew, a struggling car salesman working at a local Chevy dealership, with a family of 5 to support (I bought a Volt from him in 2013- that worked out well, no problems to report on the Volt). After buying my 2019 Silverado LZT, then or course I did the research. I can't find a single site that puts the Silverado on top, it's the competition this year and years to come because as you say, it's about the dough, not us, the hard working middle class pumping more and more of OUR blood sweat and tears into large corporations- they could have been more generous on the 2019 Silverado. It's still a nice truck, but the competitors are offering far better interiors and far-far-far better drive quality. My truck is so bumpy and shaky over most terrains I'm already looking into having it refitted with air suspension. Warranty be damned- I hate the busy oscillation I encounter when driving this big cart. In addition to suffering through this major brake system failure recall, I've had the tailgate repaired, temp knoBs replaced, and a host of other defects corrected on a truck I bought 3 months ago, sticker north of $61k. PLEASE!!. If anybody has any ideas to help me on the suspension, I'd appreciate your feedback The dealer actually told me IT'S WORKING AS DESIGNED, ALBEIT (AND THE SERVICE MANGAGER SAID THIS: "I TEST DROVE ONE AND IT'S CERTAINLY UNPLEASANT".
  4. Yep, but mine was the parking assist that went insane this morning. The button would not light up when turned on. Then later it went on, but would not go off when pressing the button. Then the camera started coming on while I was driving at about 45 mph. then that went off. I got butt-buzzed constantly for no reason at all. OMG. A whole bunch of bad things going on with the truck. I want my Honda ridgeline back.
  5. I have the same issues as everyone else, but I was wondering during our TOTAL SYSTEM BRAKE FAILURE events, did anybody try pressing the emergency brake button?
  6. I had the brake recall done after my 2019 Silverado lost its Brakes entirely on Jan 2 and went off the road, narrowly averting a collision with oncoming eastbound traffic. (TOTAL SYSTEM BRAKE FAILURE, MAX SPEED 62 MPH). I've had the car back a week or so, but back it goes tomorrow. This time, the parking assist system has gone insane. The camera comes on while I'm driving (>20mph), and the power assist button does not come on (most of the time) when I push the button. or go off when it's on and I push the button to turn it off. I'm getting butt-buzzed constantly for no reason at all. This is the 5th trip to the dealership for this new 2019 truck. The truck is an absolute, total disappointment in every possible way, but nothing disappoints more then what has developed into a terrible, bumpy, oscillating, vibrating rough ride. All trucks feel bumps, but this one vibrates. Maybe it's just the frame structure, I don't know but I absolutely hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Last month I had the temperature control knobs replaced- didn't work. Turn the heat up, temps don't change. Called the dealership- they said you can change the temp, off the info screen. ok. thanks for that. My tailgate wouldn't click shut. Sorry, can't list them all. My favorite one though and I promise I'm done- the gear shifter hangs like a loose noodle. They said it's within "tolerance". It's real loose, about 2" play. But they said it's fine, just fine.
  7. My experience was similar to the other bloggers. On Dec 28th, 2019 I took the truck in to fix a variety of things not working (climate control knobs didn't work, back gate wouldn't latch shut, a host of other things), including that when I bought the car back in November, I got home and noticed the brake pad life was at 64%. Must have been a rough drive home with the new car to wear down 36% of my pads. so they said they addressed the pad issues, but actually didn't. It still read 64% when I got the car the next day, Anyway, On Jan 3rd I was driving down my driveway, TOTAL BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE, 62 MPH max, bla bla, I totally lost my brakes (babies in two(2) child car seats in the back, going to Noodles & Company for dinner), and a car was coming westbound and almost slammed into me. It took 3 hours for the GM tow to arrive. evening ruined. So they finally called me Monday 01.27.20 to say they finally got a fix. Just got my truck back yesterday. Attached are the service notes. Hey bloggers, nothing against Chevy- I have a 2013 volt and it's been great. I'm not bashing chevy, but honestly, where has the moral compass of corporate America vanished to? Nobody from GM ever reached out to me to provide any updates, I had to keep calling the dealer to get news. I do drive around a 3-yr old & a 5-yr old. I'm a bit concerned about keeping the truck, guys this experience was mortifying. I went to look at a 2019 RAM, , ok I know don't say that on the chevy site- but really, it's a nice truck and I'd feel safer. thoughts on the RAM anyone?
  8. I'm with you SpiderMA(n). I should also note that my dealer says he has all my paperwork on his desk and "checks on it everyday". My brake failure happened on January 3rd, 2020. It was towed to the dealership, they cleared the codes and gave it back to me. I should also note that the new truck also needed to have both of the temp control knobs replaced, they were factory defective, didn't work. The day after I bought the truck, I went out in the morning and started it- it was cold out so I went to turn up the heat. Not so fast. broken. Temp wouldn't adjust from the knobs. The dealer told me I can use the touchscreen. I was also told that Chevy has no quality control division, and they don't make cars like they used to. Also, my back gate would close, the latch I mean. They had to replace some parts there. I also have an extremely loose gear shift lever, about 1 1/2" play in drive, hangs like a loose noodle. I've had it back twice for that- they can't fix it I guess. Also, brake pad life showed at 64% the day I bought the truck. It took 2 trips to the dealer to fix/reset(?) that, but I guess while they were at it they "addressed" the brake recall. After that, I had the brake failure. I'm also getting a shake/vibration/oscillation in the suspension that they summarily refuse to even address. They said they balanced the wheels and that should fix it, which it did not. So, believe it or not, I actually still love my truck in spite of all this, so i'm just considering my next moves, but if the total system brake failure occurs once more, I'll be looking at trading the vehicle for a Ram. I don't want a RAm but I need truck, and I often have small children with me.
  9. count me in on the class action law suit. I should say if you're one of us having the brake failures, DON'T USE THE GM APP TO START YOUR TRUCK. use the key FOB or just go start it yourself. I was told by my dealership that the app is messing things up.
  10. As I posted earlier, maybe in a different thread, I started the Silverado LTZ, got the total system brake failure (max speed 62 mph) error, at the same time that I was pulling out of my driveway. I almost got whacked. I finally reversed back up onto my driveway and had it towed. Important to note: they just had the car the week before working on the brake pad wear sensor issue, which was showing 64% on the new truck. I have the truck back and it’s behaved for a week. Scary - we’ll see. Still nobody from Chevy reached our to me
  11. To answer JAshworth03 , my dealership said there was one other owner with the brake issue. I'm sorry, I don't believe him. I am not trusting of anything I am told at an auto dealership, be it while buying a new car or whilst it's in service. Just a lot of bad experiences, they lie.
  12. I need to answer denail2019junk. It is important for all reading this post to know that as with Mr. denail2019junk, my brake failures did not start occurring until they "addressed the recall". after that, look out. I'd suggest to al other gm truck owners to forego the recall, or at least ask gm before getting it "addressed".
  13. I'm with you Mhugg226. I was also told about the app., not to use it. I've had my Silverado 1500 for about a month, since then they've replaced the temperature control knobs. I bought the truck, the next day hopped in, started it, and the temp control knobs didn't work, you'd turn the dial, but the temp didn't change. well that sucked.. The dealer told me I can use the info screen to adjust temp. Also, the back gate wouldn't click shut. also, my gear shift lever hangs like a loose noodle, measured play is over an inch. so sloppy. I can go on. and on. actually I still love the truck and I could have lived with all these issues. but I cannot live with or continue to own this vehicle when the brakes keep failing and the truck careens out onto the street in front of my house.
  14. No. The Service manager at the dealership told me GM MAY have a software fix available in a few weeks, but that it is not likely they will inform the dealership when that happens, or not right away. So, I asked, if the dealership was informed, would they inform me? The man told me NO, don't expect the dealership to follow up even if they are provided with the solution. He told me YOU NEED to call US.
  15. No, it's not good news. At all. Listen, another blogger got mad at me (AK High Country) cuz he thought I got on the site to bash Chevy. That's not true, I have nothing against Chevy _ I've owned a 2013 Volt and that ownership has been problem-free. I was just trying to say that my truck careened down my driveway out onto the road (there's a good amount of traffic in front of my house), and an eastbound vehicle had to slam on its brakes to avoid HITTING ME. Thankfully, that eastbound vehicle wasn't another LTZ Silverado with no brakes (haha?). anyway, they (the Chevy dealership) acted like I brought the thing for an oil change, trucks ready, codes cleared, come get it. This is an EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE that does not appear to be taken very seriously by this carmaker. I'll ask and let you ponder- do you thing anybody- from GM, from the dealer, from Chevrolet- anybody ever bothered to follow up on my ordeal to ask if the truck was now operating safely. NO! NO! I feel like I need to write a legal-type letter to document this. who to send that to though....
