  1. I’m gonna get on that this week. Hoping a good cleaning will do it, seeing as it does have 160K it may be oil residue or something. No noise or rattle when you get under and hit it. As for whatever killed them is another question. Oil burning maybe? It doesn’t burn a ton but like I said 160K...
  2. That’s what I was saying. And as much as a 5% change in O2 flow can set it off. I used to have a tune and it didn’t seem to help much. The slight increase in power was nice but tranny still sucked. Went back to stock
  3. Idk man I had to put in a reman at 150K. I drive a tow truck for a living and have towed lots with blown trannys. When they are nice and brand new they are awesome but I’ve driven a ton of higher mile 14-15s that hard shift like mine
  4. That’s what everyone who has one says. I drive a tow truck for a living and I’ve towed tons of these with blown trannys.
  5. Not salvage. Original owner was for commercial use, and racked up lots of miles fast, but it’s a fully loaded every option (for an LT) crew cab truck, so I doubt it was worked super hard, might have been a foreman’s truck or something. Best part, origionallt from FL. Spotless underneath
  6. The shop that installed the reman unit told me they would flash it stock. The reman company seemed pretty reputable but the shop that installed turned out not to be lol
  7. I had a tune for a bit and it didn’t help and honestly I didn’t like it. Ended up going back to stock after about 2K miles
  8. I thought the same man but I did my research and that code can be tripped by as little as a 5% change in the O2 sensor reading. Not sure why but over the winter the code went away on its own multiple times. And if cleared would take days or weeks to come back. Leading me to believe it’s not clogged very bad so I didn’t think that was my issue. If you think it is my issue is there a way to check? Or a way to replace cat without spending crazy money on a truck with 160K, lol when I get under it and hit the cat it’s normal, no rattle or indication the insides have come apart.
  9. 6 speed trans (5.3L) on my 14 Silverado shifts like crap. Hard downshifts constantly random thumps even when driving and not shifting, just overall bad performance. Weird thing is I had a remanufactured trans put in the truck a couple months back. It shifted like crap before the swap but worse. New trans is an improvement but still sucks. Engine runs fine except code for bank 2 cat below efficiency. But if I clear that it takes a few days to come back so I doubt the cats clogged that bad. I doubt that’s causing my trans issues. Other Chevy owners I talk to say “that’s just how the 6 speed is” but I’d say mine is definitely worse than average. when I’m driving and engine is at lower rpms it almost feels like it’s stumbling a bit. Kind of like if you were in a manual car and shifted up too soon and started bogging down the engine. Rpms look normal tho. anyone have any advice on what to check out? I love everything about this truck except the awful shifting if I can’t figure it out soon I’m honestly just gonna sell it which sucks.
  10. Well guys just got a check engine light P0430 for the right side cat, I’m guessing based on the code that it’s clogged and needs replacing. doesnt effect drive ability at all but I need to pass inspection of course lol anyone done this job before? I had a buddy of mine tell me the y pipe needs to be welded together? If that’s true I’m gonna have to have a shop do it cuz I don’t have a welder. I would rather not if I don’t have to lol Anyone know the cheapest way to fix this? Rockauto only sells both cats together for about $430. Anyone find them cheaper? I only need the right side I plan to sell the truck soon. any advice is appreciated
  11. I actually haven’t, I checked it when I bought it (125K) and the level was fine, so I left it alone But when I checked it I used a dirty rag and didn’t see the color. When I checked a week ago I noticed the color was pretty dark. So I’m changing it a few quarts at a time to see if it helps any. Idk if it will but I figure clean fluid won’t hurt. I don’t wanna drop the pan so I pumped out 2 quarts the other day and replaced 2 quarts. I’m gonna do the same thing every couple weeks until at least half is new then wait a few months since GM doesn’t recommend a full flush.
  12. Yes I’m starting to agree with this. At first I was told lots of times it’s due to the tuning of the tcm but after custom tuning nothing has changed. I’m starting to think somethings broken
  13. I bought the truck last year with 120K and now has 140K so it does have some miles on it. It’s been shifting hard since I bought it. I was told by a lot of people on different forums that the tranny hard shifts for this generation we’re usually caused by the ECU shift points being tuned for fuel efficiency, so I was advised to buy a tuner and change the shift points to fix it, but it’s pretty much done nothing so far.
  14. I’m not saying all of them did it but it’s a well documented semi common issue that plagued a lot of these 6 speeds and I haven’t seen anyone find any real fixes for it except a few people who say they were able to fix it by changing shift points so that’s what I was hoping to do. I don’t know the like pressures but I’ll look into finding that out in the morning.
  15. I mean I get a jolt in the whole truck when shifting,
  16. Well guys I wanna start my saying sorry, I’m sure this issue has been beat to death but I still can’t figure it out. my 5.3L 2014 Silverado crew cab lt 6 speed shifts hard and won’t stop. Pretty much only on downshifts. Usually 3-2 is hard, 2-1 is always hard every time. And if I floor it or go up a hill fast, it’s always hard. I bought a hypermax 2000 max energy 2.0 tuner. I mess with the shift points and shift firmness but can’t get the hard shifts to go away. Does anyone know where to set the shift points to get it smooth? if not then does anyone know a tuner or tuning service that can 100% get rid of the hard shifts? my truck is literally so perfect except for the shifting, but it’s driving me mad. ive been a huge GM guy for the longest time but if I can’t fix this I’m gonna switch to a dodge or ford which is disappointing to me. GM should have done something about this.
