  1. Update. So far so good. The intermediate starting issues seem to have been resolved with a new starter. Onward and upward!
  2. What did dealership charge to diagnose and replace?
  3. Did a bunch of research as truck would not start after several attempts. Replaced starter this afternoon and truck fired right up without issue. New starter seems to have corrected the issue for now.
  4. Starter is on the suspect list for sure. What are the issues with battery cable to starter?
  5. About 6-weeks ago we were at our property camping and experienced our first issue with this truck. Weather was cold, sub freezing, but not below zero. Truck would not crank over. After turning the key a few times truck fired up and we wrote it off as a one-off occurrence. Fast forward to today the truck has repeated the issue several times without rhyme or reason. We've tried both keys, flipping key 180, and remote start. Truck will not turn over but fuel pump primes. Then after a minute or two the truck fires up. When the truck didn't turn over yesterday I checked battery voltage - 12.59v. Today I checked the battery and 12.29v and starts right up. Battery is original to the truck with 62,****** miles. I am not opposed to taking truck to dealership although I know these types of issues can be difficult to trouble shoot. Any ideas of places to look?
  6. Planning to add pod lights to the rear bumper and possibly a LED light bar above the front bumper. I've thought through much of the project and left with the question on where to mount switches. I have trailer brakes so the real estate above the 4 wheel drive knob is occupied. Anyone have creative locations to mount a couple of switches?
  7. Not looking to pull a ton of power. Mainly phone, GPS, and dog collar charging. And yes, full time power rather than switched. Knew there was a better term If 110v power requires another inverter then that is too much effort for this project. Sounds like I have two options: 1) Tap into hot wire from somewhere beneath the truck. 2) Bring new wire from battery to back of truck. Option 2 sounds more robust and would eliminate cutting of factory wires. I could also remove the bed plug and wiring in the future should the need arise. What else am I missing?
  8. My suspicion is this question has been asked and answered. Just can not find exactly what I am looking for. Goal is to add a 12 volt plug to the bed of a 2018 Silverado. Trying to understand where the best location to bring power from. A couple years ago I added cargo lighting and connected to a plug beneath the bed by the spare tire. Wondering if one of the extra plugs would suffice. Would also prefer a plug that is not tied to accessory switch. In other words, hot at all times. As a bonus, if I could get 110v plug back there as well I would go for it. Thanks much for the help.
