  1. Perfect, thank you. What’s open? Should I be high up on a mountain.. should I be away from other types of signals? Or am I just mostly looking to not be in a city area? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. So all I need is a tune and I should be fine? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I realize I don’t have the proper connector for that, that’s why I posted asking if there was anywhere else I could use that connector. I’ve read plenty of reviews they say there’s no loss in quality for the CB. I’ll take my chances.. I’m not trying to break any records for distance covered with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. So I have a CB antenna splitter, it’s supposed to allow the CB antenna to be both the antenna for the CB and for the radio. The wire it came with is supposed to go from the radio to the splitter. It’s been a long time since I’ve fiddled with antenna connections, and last time I did - this would have worked. But it seems like vehicles now have tiny connections? I’m supposed to plug the cable from the left side of the first picture, but the right side is what comes with my truck stock. The second picture is what I removed the antenna wire from. Does anyone know if that’s an adapter of some sort? If I remove that connection, is there something behind it that I can plug the larger cable into? Or maybe even somewhere behind that whole panel? Also, anyone know what A, B, or C are for in the third picture? I have no clue about A - B looks exactly like the connection for the USB plugs below the radio that allow me to use CarPlay. And C looks exactly like the radio antenna plug, just a different color. I’m only curious because nothing was plugged into any of these. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. HUGE HELP! I’ll be trying that as soon as the sun comes up.. thank you! I had no idea the connection was under the dash. That’s all I need to get to! Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I removed the antenna on my 2016 Silverado..I ended up cutting the antenna wire just below the antenna. I removed both glove boxes and I can only catch a glimpse of the wire - I’m able to pull on it but there’s no play. I reached around the engine compartment, behind the battery, and I can kind of feel a loop of the antenna wire, so maybe that’s what’s keeping me from pulling it in? Ultimately, I’m trying to hook the antenna up through a CB Coax splitter. The splitter came with a new radio antenna wire to use, but I don’t know how much work it’ll be getting up behind the radio to unplug the old one and plug the new one in. Ideally, if the factory wire has a connection on the inside after the radio that I could use, I’d prefer to just do that. Anyway, anyone have experience with this? Is it a PITA trying to get behind the radio to install a new one? Anyone know if there’s a connection on the interior? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for the reply! For anyone that stumbles in this with the same problem, I actually got it by getting pissed and yanking things (Which usually never works out). There’s a group of wires that trace the box (there held together in a plastic channel) on the outside.. they clip in. Once you remove that, there’s a U shaped indent on the box that gives you a direct line to the nut. Took me about 4 hours to figure something out they took a minute to accomplish. 8. Sorry for the terrible pictures. I cannot figure out an easy way to get that nut off. There is no direct shot to it and if I try to get something in from the right side, there’s just too much crap in the way to get anything around the nut, never mind being able to turn it. I got the bottom 2 off, I REALLY hope there’s only 3, because if there’s another one in the top left corner I’m just scraping this idea. Any tips on how to get to that last nut? 9. Thanks for the tip. Is it possible have things still switch on and off with the ignition that way? That’s the only reason I’m looking into tapping into fuses instead of going directly to the battery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you, I didn’t know in-line fuses had to be so close to the battery, that’s good to know! Yeah I think I will run the horn straight from the battery..I have a switch for it that lights up, which is why I wanted to go off an accessory fuse for it but now that I think about it I’m sure the light from that switch would take weeks to drain my battery so I probably shouldn’t have to worry about that being on constantly. 11. Thanks for the reply! The radio is a good idea, I’ll check into the fuse location for that! Dumb question but is there a way to max out the load on a fuse to immediately see if it can handle it? Or is it just something that can fail over time? I’ve got a buttload of spares and don’t mind blowing through them to find out what works - if I can find out in my driveway, not on the highway [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I’m looking to use some “Add-a-Circuit Fuse Taps” to power a CB with PA speaker, a set of LED lights, and a cheap airhorn on my 2016 Silverado LT.. I’m looking to have these only powered on when the key is turned to ACC/On/ or the truck is running. I’ve never done this before and I’m not the best with electrical. Any tips on which fuses to use? Should I up the size of each fuse or do they generally have some wiggle room when it comes to how much load they can handle? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
