  1. Yea I'll be changing it this weekend if the rain holds. Still confused as to why I pulled it all last summer and put 20k miles on it and it never went above 210. The temperature here isn't even hitting the 80s yet. I guess my truck is retarded and didn't know it was pulling a trailer all last year.
  2. I will because it seems to be the easiest piece to replace with the least amount of coolant loss. It'll probably this weekend before I can do it unless it completely fails. I'll update here when I change it and if it fixes it.
  3. If it was doing when I first purchased it I probably wouldn't have thought twice about it, just seems odd I've pulled the trailer for over a year and put over 20k miles on the truck and the temperature just now started rising within the last 1000 miles. I guess I should add that I run a lawncare business so it's always is pulling a trailer.
  4. It's odd I pulled the same setup all last year and the temp never rose above 210. And it ain't even summer yet so now I'm confused because if it was normal why has it only recently started doing it?
  5. So I'm curious what would be the cause of that if I'm not dogging the truck but pulling a 600lb trailer at 55mph? My temp rises to the line after 210. Seems like a v8 shouldn't be hitting that temp with an empty trailer and barely even hitting hwy speed
  6. That's what I was leaning towards because if I don't have the trailer hooked up it stays right at 210 and doesn't rise at all. And it's not like I'm pulling 8k lbs or anything, the trailer and mower together is under 2k lbs. I use to pull the exact trailer and mower with my 03 frontier and never had any temperature fluctuations. And it was a v6 lol.
  7. According to what I've been reading on here that is normal given the gauge on the dash isn't super accurate. It's when the temp doesn't go down is the problem. My 1500 LD started rising above 210 on the dash a few months ago anytime I have my little 5x8 utility hooked up. Pulled it all last year with no fluctuations but now it jumps up and down like a kid with a sugar rush.
  8. I can't help because my 2019 1500LD has started doing the same thing everytime I pull my little 5x8 utility trailer with my zero turn on it. Bought it last year and drove all summer pulling it and it never went above 210, about 2 months ago it constantly goes up to the line after 210 then drops back down anytime the trailer is hooked up. I even pulled the trailer empty and it still does it. I was thinking maybe it's like a warning letting you know the thermostat or something is starting to fail but honestly I have no idea because this is the first vehicle I've had that wasn't already 15 years old . I mainly replied because I'm new to forums and have no idea how to find what I'm looking for lol so I wanted to be able see everyone's thoughts on it. Mileage when bought 21k, Mileage now 44k.
  9. Unless he voided the warranty by doing mods already. And if that's the case, hopefully he learns the lesson to never mod a vehicle that voids warranty.
  10. Just because I have trust issues, I change my oil every 4 to 5k miles. I'll never go by the ocm because it'll be near 10k before it gets to ocm warning. That to me is crazy since I pull a trailer with it all day and I feel like they added the ocm in vehicles to slowly wear down the internals and reduce the longevity of the motor. But like I said I have trust issues, so there's your dinner. 2019 1500 LD 44k miles. Edit- as far as the hour meter goes iirc every hr equals around 33 miles according to owners manual.
  11. I'm sure it's been answered but you'll definitely want at least a 3/4 ton. Most of the time a truck will pull more than it's rated but the issues arise with stopping and maneuvering. Bite the bullet and get a bigger truck, no sense in playing Russian roulette with an overloaded truck.
  12. I have a 2019 1500 LD that I bought with 20k miles on it and I pulled my 5x8 utility trailer with my zero turn on it all last year with no fluctuations in the engine temp gauge. About 2 months ago it started to rise to the line after 210 everytime I pull the trailer no matter how cool it was outside. It goes back down after about a minute or so but will rise back up and then go down again repeatedly until I'm idling at a stop light. Not sure if it's normal since it never rose above normal operating temperature anytime before this. It's still under warranty but running a lawncare business I can't really afford for it to sit at the dealership for an extended period of time. So going by most of the replies saying this behavior is normal, how come it never did it until about 2 months ago? Is it a warning sign of some sort for the thermostat going bad?
