  1. 2014 Silverado Recently updated my iPhone 12 to the 17 and now the skip/back buttons on the steering wheel don't work to control the songs when connected via Bluetooth. I also have the CarPlay WAMS upgrade and have the same issue (CarPlay works fine, but still can't skip/back songs with the steering wheel controls). I've tried a hard reset by pulling the negative battery cable for 30 minutes. I've tried a second Anker cord, I've tried a new Apple USB A to Lightning cord with the Apple Lightning to USB C adapter - all have the same issue.
  2. No, these lasted about 2 years, I bought some other no name brand headlights again and they've lasted about a year and a half and now one of them is going out. Annoying, but for $40 or so and just a couple minutes to change them, I'm not complaining too much.
  3. I'm hearing this clicking/popping noise whenever I turn the wheel at low speeds (or stationary). It's not a single loud pop or thud, it's constant clicking or popping with every half turn of the steering wheel or so. I know it's coming from somewhere along the steering system as I can feel the pops/clicks on both sides when I'm touching the tie rods and someone is turning the wheel. And though I can't pinpoint the sound exactly, it's definitely coming from the direction of the engine bay as opposed to out near the wheel. I initially suspected a loose intermediate steering shaft as that seems to be a common problem, but the noise is definitely coming from lower down and I can barely feel the pops/clicks when touching the steering shaft while the wheel is being turned. For that reason I also don't think it's the lower steering shaft that connects to the rack and pinion, though I haven't ruled it out yet since it does seem to have a lot of play when I yank on it. I dug around a bit and found a couple forum threads that mentioned the steering gear shaft dampener rings in the rack and pinion. GM part number 23214207. Only $40. https://www.silveradosierra.com/threads/steering-gear-shaft-dampener-replacement.723117/ https://www.silveradosierra.com/threads/steering-clicking-on-2014.549330/page-2 I have the replacement dampener rings ordered and plan to replace them in a couple days. Will update if this fixes the noise when I do. Wanted to get a thread going since there aren't many that match the noises I'm hearing or this potential fix.

  4. Ha, I’ve been driving around without it for months and haven’t had any issues. Was doing some other work on the truck and got some motivation to finally wire it up
  5. I've seen lots of different options on wiring up the third brake light on a truck topper and figured I'd share what I did on my 2014 Silverado. I wanted to wire it directly without messing with logic boxes (lots of people have issues with them), running a wire all the way to the fuse box, or buying a $100 harness. Basically followed what the guy in the thread below did. I wasn't reading the pinout diagram correctly at first and incorrectly tapped into pin 28 (it's a purple and white wire). Pin 13 (purple and gray wire) is actually on the top row of the connector when plugged into the X63A junction box. To get to the wire I cut back some of the protective wrapping and cut off the zip tie to loosen up the harness. There's not a ton of room to work but it's not too bad. There's a ground screw on the frame crossmember right next to the junction box. 30 minute job if I had to do it again, most of that being removing the spare tire and cutting back the wrapping. 6. https://truckoutfittersplus.com/truck_topper_parts/Topper-Wiring-Harness/Topper-Wire-Harness-4-Prong.html Buy this harness, connect it to your topper fuse box, then tap into the purple/gray wire going to pin 13 on the X1 connector in the junction box near the spare tire. Connector/pin info: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=87676 Above info was for the third brake light. I imagine the 12v dome light will be the same process, just gotta figure out which wire you want to tap into.
  7. I've got a 2014 LTZ with projector halogens and was planning to get the Morimoto Elite HID upgrade kit or a full HID projector retrofit. Decided to try out a much cheaper option first. I bought these KOOMTOOM H8/H9 LED Headlight Bulbs H11,LED Bulbs 5000K LED bulbs from Amazon ($39): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08L11HQ99/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They were plug and play, had no problem fitting them in, and they make a HUGE difference over stock. I also bought a pair of error canceller things but I cancelled that order because I have no flickering issues. Most LEDs are 6000k or 6500k which I absolutely didn't want. 5000k is good enough, though I would have loved to find something like 4300k. If you're thinking about upgrading your headlights I'd recommend trying these out first before going all in on an HID system. $39 and a 3 minute install on the driver side + 20 minute install on the passenger side.
