  1. The problem is the momentary contact switch on the circuit board under the trip odo reset. There could just be corrosion on the switch contacts or solder joints. The switch could also be shorted. No board reprogram required. Just clean or replace the switch. Check its solder connections to the circuit board. It could have a cracked solder joint although that will usually just make it not operate correctly when you press it. These circuit boards also get lots of other problems relating to solder connections being cracked or corroded, or bad stepper motors. If you have one guage, speedo or tach reading randomly, you just need the replace that stepper motor, or sometimes just fix a bad solder joint on the motor connection to the circuit board. I had one where ALL the guages were reading randomly and the fix was cleaning the ground connections on the frame under the driver's door! Cleaning those grounds also fixed one that was locked in auto 4 wheel drive. A corroded ground connection there can cause all kinds of weird problems. The intrument cluster circuit boards RARELY go bad and need to be replaced. They DO however have poor solder connections and vibration can cause them to crack. Sorry about running on but i hope it helps someone. The changing language problem though is definitely related to the little momentary contact trip odo reset switch being corroded or shorted.
