Just bought a 2024 2500HD, Z71 package, great looking truck, love the multiple cameras and safety features. Within the first 500 miles, the radio cuts out and won't come back on unless you do this almost silly reset procedure - go to Safe Mode, open your door, wait one minute, and then it should reset....but it doesn't. The biggest issue though is a rattling sound from the front end - suspension/steering area. I have a ranch in the Texas Hill Country so the road to the house is a bit rocky, but nothing an off road package truck shouldn't be able to handle. My 2019 GMC Sierra with off road package handled it perfectly, no issues, so did my F-250. All the noise and feedback through the steering column happens driving between 5 - 10 mph and when you get to the rocky sections of the drive. It feels like I can feel every bump through the steering wheel and it seems like the suspension feels weak and wobbly, like it might fall apart any minute.
I took it to the dealer, rode with a tech who heard the noise and agreed it shouldn't do that. They said the bushings and everything else looked fine. They thought the issue was due to the truck being in Auto 4WD and their solution was to make sure the truck stays in 2WD mode. Needless to say, the truck makes the same noise in 2WD and the radio still works intermittently after a software update.
Another strange issue occurred yesterday on the way to work. I was approaching a turn and when I stepped on the brake pedal, it wouldn't move. I could not get it to push down. Nothing in the floorboard to prevent it from going down. I let off the pedal and tried again and it worked correctly. A bit scary slowing down from 70 mph - would have been a big mess if it never worked properly. Dealer says they have had no report of this issue and of course couldn't repeat it.
Does anyone else feel like their steering wheel is off-center? Mine looks like it is a few notches to the left of center.
I am supposed to take it back Monday for a new radio but I plan to leave it there and have them go through the entire front end. I can't imagine a HD truck with such sensitive suspension/steering. I've owned at least 20 trucks in my life and never experienced front end issues like this. Have any of you experienced this? Any ideas on where to focus?
I hate to think I bought a $70K pavement princess. Appreciate any feedback - Thanks.
