Reading thru your links , I never had break pad issues just warped rotors all four ,the 2023 at4 was my 5th or 6th GM 2500 HD Starting in 02 and all those trucks were work trucks I always got dam near 100k miles out of OEM GM BREAKS , A FREIND OF MINE HAD A 2023 2500 HD still does and has had no issues the DIFFERENCE is his is a LT MODEL and does not have the stability control and he still has the truck uses it for work I’m convinced it’s that damn stability control who needs it I don’t need it I can’t delete it I tried to order the new truck without it and couldn’t, The last article you included about Heat not warping brake rotors I’ve read that in the past and I can tell you my rotors looked beautiful no uneven pad deposit where they might the same thickness at every point around the rotor they were warped as I recall anywhere from.012 - .018 that is a lot that was not due to uneven pad wear deposit the pads themselves were beautiful still after 10,000 miles they were at 90% thickness and wearing quite even so who knows we’ll never know because there’s no recall involved FYI AFTER THE REPURCHASE AND CHECKS CASHED I ASKED THE GM REP THAT WAS DEALING WITH MY CASE WHY DID GM OUT OF THE BLUE OFFER TO BUY MY TRUCK SHE SAID BECAUSE THEY KNEW IF I LITIGATED IT THROUGH LEMON LAW IN CALIFORNIA THEY WERE GUARANTEED TO LOSE,,, THE COMMUNIST STATE OF CALIFORNIA HAS ONE THING THAT OTHERS DON’T AND THAT’S THE LEMON LAW OTHER THAN THAT THE STATE SUCKS

Feeling great. I can’t tell you how the brakes are doing because GM bought that truck back and I’m now driving a 2025 AT4X 2500 HD . I do not believe it was a material problem at all it was an issue with their stability control overworking every little movement of the with a steering wheel was causing those back brakes too just constantly over work . If it had simply been a rotor issue GM would’ve just replaced the rotors AGAIN THEY DID ONCE ,,,they wouldn’t have given me a new truck at 10 K over what I paid for the first one they knew they had an electronic issue I hope it’s fixed cause my new truck has the same damn thing stability control , with just under 10,000 miles on it this yea I have had zero issues great truck I think best I’ve ever owned.

I drive a 2025 at4X HD AND THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT IS SO BAD I ONLY HAVE 6 k on it but im ready to trade it in on a ford I have looked at every posible fix and cant find a good answer

FYI from the day GM offered to re-purchase was back in August 2024 it was November 6 that I actually gave them my old truck and ordered the new one which took three months to get off the assembly line but it was delivered on the day they said it would be delivered so I was technically without a truck for almost 7 months because once they made that offer I stopped driving the old truck as not to get any damage on it or more mileage
-
Yes GM re-purchased the truck for every single penny that it cost me +3 oil changes an extra year of California registration which is $1000 and 1500 in coupons towards my new 2025AT4X 2500 HD I received the new truck on January 29 the day I fell and broke my freaking hip so I've had the truck now for three months and got 500 miles on it love it

Well guys here's the end of my story first picture is the broken rotated femur just below the hip joint and the second picture is the repair check out that hardware and you got a zoom in on it all the way and I guarantee that no one else has hardware like that in their femur, don't tell my wife but while she was out getting me more meds and food and feed me I took my walker and my daughter and she was able to help me climb up into the driver seat sure feels taller than the planeAT4 man is it comfortable the seats are so nice the bigger dashboard compared to the 23 just the layout in general got the safe mounted inside the console the storage box with you know better than nothing plastic gun rack under the backseat heads up display was something I wasn't familiar with at first I could barely see it and I was puzzled but turns out there is a button to raise and lower the heads up display wow pretty nice I'll get it figured out got the OnStar and the my GM app connected paired my phone and drove it for about a 10 mile test drive no worries I hadn't taking any oxy all day so it's all good. It sure feels like it rolls better on the 305s then the 285 that my other truck came with so far I have no complaints how could I it's only just sitting in my driveway got my AirTag buried in it so that nobody will ever find it . Well that is all oxy talking right there Honestly can't wait till I don't need that ****** Doctor says probably another week For the pain to reside

Well guys GM actually came through after the repurchase of my 2023 AT4 that was my retirement truck and it was pretty sweet but I wasn't gonna get stuck with a truck that needed breaks every 12 to 20 kmiles , so a week ago Dublin Buick GMC called to tell me that my 2025 AT4X 2500 HD that was a special order due to the 6.6 gas motor on 11/6 was ready and all detailed out and ready to pick up but it was too late in the day for me to drive 100 miles round trip . so I decided to wash off my Tonneu top that I bought for the 2023 so while I was washing that off soap and water and some stuff to make it shine like new because hell it was new when I took it off . but DAM IF I DIDNT SLIP and fall on my concrete driveway that has a little slope to it not much but wet and soapy that's all it took to slip and fall landed just right and broke my left femur the fracture went all the way through pretty low rotated slid up got muscle damage anyway that's another story in the hospital for a week I cannot even get in this truck it's too tall for a gimp andits too painful but give me a couple weeks, and it was my left leg so all I need is my right go pedal foot I love in this truck man it's looking pretty good inside is loaded got the massaging seats got some other stuff that I don't believe was part of the AT4X package, The good part of this my daughter flew in from Scotland where she lives to help my wife take care of me for a week so that was a bonus out of all of this I only get to see her once a year so now it's twice a year back to the truck it's BITCHEN hopefully they fixed the brake issues they claim to have. I would like to hear some other GM REpurchase stories or am I the only one with a truck story well hopefully the picture loads sorry for the long post guys but that's what oxycodone does to me and the other reason I can't drive the truck happy happy happy as the other part the oxy does to an old 66 year-old man next week on Tuesday

Good luck are you guys I know other states aren't as easy as California interesting note during that three month discussion with them and their agent they never admitted that this was a lemon they never admitted that there was anything wrong with the brakes they never admitted anything they offered to buy the truck back as a 25 year GM customer . And they wanted to see me satisfied that was pure BS they knew they had a break problem and it's not nothing to do with the quality of the rotors or the pads this is the electronics stability control system, not ABS not the steering stabilizer not sway control but.. .ESC During my personal inspection because I took those brakes apart myself checked the rotors for run out yes I had all eight lug nuts torque to spec during the check of those but I went one step further I put my dial indicator on the rear axle HUB FLANGE if you guys know the three-quarter ton is a full floating axle it's identical to a front hub it is supported by two wheel bearings what I found is that axle Flange .008 lateral run out it should be less.0005 to be within limits. So you could put a brand new rotor on that rear hubs and put a dial indicator on it and you would already have .016 thousands runout which wOULD just compound daily as you used your brakes... I know my two statements contradict each other is that the ESC or is it the poorly machine axle flange I believe it's both.. our rotors are an inch thick and all specs say a rotor that thick can have.002 run out and they will last forever but you put that rotor on a bad axle flange and then throw an ESC system that's out of whack those rear brakes are like a parachute that's how the ESC works it wants to try and straighten you out at all cost by applying just the rear brakes Left and right whatever the computer thinks it needs to do to keep you going straight! I do live at the top of a very windy mountain it's 4 miles long and I don't drive it slow. my four or five GMC Sierra trucks were not equipped with ESC and I never had an issue so I don't know what the heck I know is I'm pretty happy this week I know I got a brand new truck and didn't cost me a freaking dime.

GM bought my truck back full price plus tax and license extra year of reg in California as you know that's 1000 bucks a year plus the couple hundred dollars I spent on oil changes plus a $500 coupon towards a new truck I took them up on your offer I have since ordered a 2025AT4X , we'll see how this one does for you guys that don't push when your brakes go bad under 12,000 miles in California it's an easy lemon law GM knows it I didn't do anything I was in the middle of arguing with them to get it fixed all I wanted was them to fix the brakes a third time they did it twice they refused and in the middle of that argument out of nowhere they offered to buy the truck back how can you refuse I drove 20,000 miles on it for two years and it didn't cost me anything but gas and three month headache but what do you want perfection in this day and age not gonna happen

2024 2500 At4 - retractable step stuck open
RGA replied to SDugg's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I received a bulletin from GM TO TAKE MY 2023 Sierra AT4 in for a software update for that very reason , dealer had it done in an hr , go on line to your GM acc page and the you will find all bulletin as well as recalls for your specific truck -
What two year old post this is my first post anywhere on the net , and all four of my other gmc trucks were as u call it 3/4 ton 98 2500,02 2500, 05 2500,06 2500 duramax all HD and those were all work trucks that I abused and my guys abused but I still was really impressed with how long the brakes lasted compared to the 95 ford junk ,

Well after starting the claim with GM and dropping the truck at the dealers today they tell me there is no sign of defective parts that they can then show GM and nothing wrong with the entire braking system so and this is a quote it's my poor diving and heavy braking habits ,,,, you have to remember all four rotors warped at 10 k and the same dealer found a bulliten that he was ble to get them replaced due to defective parts and now I just turned 20K AND THE rotors are starting to warp again but this time it's not bad material it's my bad braking habits un Fricking believable .like I said this is my fifth GM 2500 HD IN 24 years the first 3 were work trucks and the 4th was one I bought new for my daughter all of those brakes lasted 90 - 100k, when I go to GM parts direct I can't even find new rotors for the 2023 says decontinued ,so I looked up the 2024 same thing discontinued part numbers , so what did the dealer use supposable to replace the first ones ,,screw GM I'm just going to go after market rotors any suggestions

GMC makes the best trucks ,, I just read your post and I just posted the same problem , I had my rotors and pads on my 2023 go bad at 9800 miles and yes gm covered it new rotors and pads , they know there's a problem with bad material in the rotors , my problem is now I have 20 k and my rotors are starting to get warped,, definitely take your truck back to the dealer don't take no for an answer they know this is an issue and if the first dealer won't listen to you take it to another one my dealer Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City didn't even bat an eye I they knew about the problem they have fixed many but when I called about my brakes starting to go bad again this week 8/14 the service manager was kind of hesitant I'm taking him for a test ride tomorrow I will not let GM off the hook and nor should you I'm glad I'm not the only one good luck bud

I'll chime in ,first I have ran BFG AT and the KO2 on my last 4 trucks all Sierra HD 2500 and will put the KO3 on my new truck after I wear out the stock tires ,never picked up a nail or screw or got a flat and ca roads are the worst ,I have ripped the sidewalls while wheeling my jeep thru the rubicon always got 25-30k out of them for some people that sounds like not many miles but they ok for me They are a E rated which used to mean they were ten ply not any more, with out looking they have a load range of 112/115 fyi check any tire manufacture site , Michelin has a good one they will show you that on a dually the pass inner carry's the most weight , you'll be fine temporary but if you have any weight put the good tire on the inside

new to the forum and already I'm asking for input . let me start by saying I lov my GMC 2500 HD this is my fifth one since 2002, I always buy the 2500 HD SLT 4x4 4 door, all gas except my 06 was a duramax, as for the brakes my experience has been I get 80 to 90 and 100k on the duramax before ever needing brakes I retired last year and bought my last truck I hope .. The brakes on MY 2023 2500 HD SLT Sierra At4 went completely south at 9800 miles all highway between northern California and Washington state. AND I MEAN THEY DIDNT JUST START PULSATING IT went from fine to the worst warped rotors pulsating bad .the dealer took care of all of it with front and rear new rotors new pads said GM knew about the issue they had mentioned dust getting behind them I called BS on that , I've done to many brake job to know that they're always full of dust unless dirt was getting in and around the caliper piston causing them to stick they never elaborated on the reasons ,,anyway whatever the reason GM replaced all the parts with supposedly upgraded rotor material and better pads ,,,,, I just turned 20,000 miles and the brakes are starting to do exactly the same thing not as bad but I can tell the rotors are starting to get warped I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow , my question for all of you have any of you had the same problem, I have searched the Internet cannot find anything about GM replacing rotors and pads due to bad material I see stuff about brake boosters pressure switches ABS systems on the up until 2018 I see nothing about 2023 with bad rotors because it 20,000 I'm sure there's gonna be pushback from GM brakes aren't warranty to begin with but they had a known problem they fixed it once and I will never let them off the hook looking for fuel my argument .
