  1. Recently acquired new 2026 Silv. 1500 WT - L3B + 4WD, std cab + std bed, in (duh!) Sierra White. Upgrades: replaced 'steelies' w/ Vision "Flow" black alloys, 17x8.5"; HDX nerf bar w/steps (black powdercoat); Weatherguard large/deep alloy saddle toolbox; Michelin fitted bedmat (sale, perfect fit) Weathertech door sill guards TBD: rear wheebox liners 4x black fender arch trim - searching for best (Putco: chrome only; not looking for flares either!) -Bill
  2. My 2026 Silv. 1500 WT (reg cab/short bed/4wd) has the 40/20/40 with storage in lower middle seat as well as the fold-down center bolster/armrest. With the dual glove boxes this is about as much storage as possible in a std cab IMHO. Bill
  3. I have a 2026 base 1500 "WT" regular cab with basic Chevy "Infotainment 3" 7-inch screen/radio. How many speakers do I have If I want to upgrade? Is the audio amp separate from the radio/display unit]? [I listen to classical and it gets a bit raspy at slightly higher volumes. Don't need a sub etc.] Do I have two or 1 speakers in the doors? etc. Thanks Bill San Jose
  4. Folks, Have a great new 2026 WT (std cab, 2.7/4WD) w/base 40/20/40 mech adj bench "fake buckets" (with lower and upper center console) heavy vinyl seats. Overall the seats are very comfortable and the vinyl is heavy and appears less likely to 'split out'. Am very tall (6'5") + a bad back/osteporosis/former hyperparathyroidism so ease/range of movement is a bit restricted. The truck rides a bit high and I use a nerf step bar w/my left foot to step in, then I put right foot/leg in, drag my butt in & get seated. Worked fine in my 2018 RAM quadCab. But I end up dragging my butt over the left raised sidecushsion area of vinyl seat, and due to texture there's fair amount of traction on slide inward. (ArmorAll didn't improve.) If the seat were even ~1/2" - 3/4" lower it'd be helpful, but base seats just have the forward/backward underseat bail and the side lever for tilt which really doesn't affect seat height. I really don't want to 'de-puff' the left side sidecushion forming the fake 'bucket'. I know one company sells 'seat elevator blocks': but is there a simple way of lowering the height of the driver seat instead? Thanks Bill W San Jose
  5. I have a basic 2026 1500 WT (2.7L/4WD reg cab shorttbed). Comfy, generally happy with electronics/radio - but is there a way I can add switches to steering wheel right-side position (curr. empty) so I can adjust volume, push phone button to voice dial, etc? Bill W San Jose
  6. Whoops! From Jill @ GM service support: Based on the information available, the L3B engines are equipped with Active Fuel Management (AFM). This is an integrated component of the L3B engine rather than a standalone feature, so it does not appear separately on the vehicle build."
  7. Davester, GMCustomerService responded to my post here (perhaps also below) with this (nonpertinent text excised from quote).
  8. Newdude, So what happens with a low power condition, battery or wiring failure? I am locked inside my truck? [Can I just pull the button near the rear up? Looks small and hard to grasp.] Thanks Bill
  9. Folks, 2026 Silverado 1500 WT: 2.7L TurboMax + 4WD; regular cab & bed.... Love my new truck but difficult to tell if the 2026 TurboMax 2.7L on it: - has or doesn't have AFM / DFM; - if it has AFM/DFM, is it disableable by any product? - will an AutoStop disablement product also disable AFM/DFM on this platform? [Yes, I know AutoStop itself is disableable with a common device.] I know people have found a new "E" in the VIN# on their V8s to determine this; I could only find a basic VIN parser that doesn't mention one way or another this capability/feature. My VIN# is 3GCNKAEK9TG345xxx -Bill
  10. Love my new 2026 truck - even as a basic WT it's comfy, rides nicely, etc. Encouraged by the 100K powertrain warranty. 2nd GM I've ever owned (1st was a 2000SLE with Vortec V6 - loved that truck.) Small question - maybe I'm missing it in the manual? - but I seem to need to press the unlock button first, in order to open driver's door. (Don't care as much about passenger door.) RKIs: is there any mod/setting change, etc such that when I merely pull the door handle it just unlocks + opens? I have minor concerns about ability to exit regardless of electrical performance. (I'm a bit limited agility w/osteoporosis from hyperparathyroidism - big guy, age 62, range of movement etc issues.) Thanks, Bill San Jose CA
  11. I have a cigarette 'lighter' port on the dash of my Silverado 1500 WT (4WD, reg cab, short bed). There are many things that may want 12VDC at higher current without going thru USB-C limits. (Temp install of ham radio gear is one!) -Bill
