  1. has anyone noticed a break in period on these 5100's at all....Installed fronts and rears saturday on my 2014 reg cab std bed lt z71 with max trailering and I cannot tell a bit of difference over the factory ranchos as far as ride...I went for the 2nd highest setting as some folks have said the top setting was a bit stiff...im a bit disappointed after spending the $$$ and especially since my ranchos had 32000 miles on them....I hope they soften up a tad...did raise the front up a little..still not level, but I could remove rear spacer and it would be real close....

Well, i couldnt take it...i installed my gibson metal mulisha cat back on saturday, and i just re-installed my factory exhaust...truck was running and shifting really strange and was constantly trying to stay in v4 mode...had to drive across town today and it shifted to quick in lower gears and held to long in higher gears when id hit an open stretch of road...im gonna contact hhp in houston and see what options they have,but im in so ill so a trip for a dyno tune is out...maybe a programmer, eliminate v4 mode and try it again later...it sure did sound good though under throttle and at idle..best sounding exhaust ive heard on a small block...just not enough back pressure with the 4" catback without some tuning.

  4. yes it does have a small muffler....the sound is amazing..until v4 happens, then it sounds like a helicopter....may partly be because of the short length of the system..mine is a reg cab shortbed...i havent noticed the crew or ext cab guys saying much about it..after driving it last night and this morning, i cant decide if im keeping it or not...
  5. i just did the gibson "metal mulisha" stainless single catback on my '14 reg cab shortbed...love the sound, but afraid the 4" pipe back into a 6" tip is too much free breathing...seems to lag some on take off..has a bit of a flatspot upon acceleration..not enough back pressure im thinking...i really thought the tip would look stupid but its really not too bad...

  7. been reading the forum and just read all 25 pages of this post...have yet to find anyone thats installed 5100's on a 2014 reg cab shortbed z71 with max trailering and rancho shocks for comparison....i ordered shocks last week..recd the fronts right away from streetside auto..they were a few bucks higher but had them in stock....ordered rears from autoanything as they confirmed they were in stock and gave me a good deal...i get email yesterday that they lied and they wouldnt ship til february?? they got my order, since they lied to me, but it will be the last....would really like to hear from someone with experience with these and a reg cab shortbed...would i be okay to go ahead and put the fronts on until i get the rears...kinda curious how the shorty truck balances out...im gonna set them at 2nd to highest setting and may take out the rear spacer blocks if the rear is still high when i get the rear shocks...any input??
  8. from what ive seen it is a tough job...but if the service tech does a great job, i will tip him on the side..
  9. antifreeze smell in cab...2014 silverado z71 4wd reg cab std bed...in shop today getting leaking heater core fixed..complete dash is out of truck..intake is off...quite a job...evidently been a problem for many...just hope it all goes back together without squeaking and rattling...im gonna have them check this radiator issue as well.
