  1. Its called torque management. Almost every GM vehicle has had some form of it for years now. Try rolling on the throttle instead of stomping it to the floor. Big difference. Again, torque management. Torque management was put in place for a lot of reasons but mainly to help the powertrains easily live past their 5 year/100,000 mile warranty.
  2. Love my 6spd and 6.2. The 6L80 is a quick learn trans so it is constantly adapting to conditions. Some people like that and some don't.
  3. I would assume so, yes. The supplier went into bankruptcy protection but never went under. The plant, and company, are still going to this day but were bought out and changed names. Not enough sales, correct but in all honesty, I believe that was the marketing division of GM's fault not the supplier.
  4. Believe what you will but yes, there is no parts availability, from GM anyhow. 2005 was the last year, correct.
  5. PIT4816D. That is where your dealer needs to start. Not sure why this was posted in this thread for though.
  6. No. Matter of fact, just changed mine last week and after 6,000 hard miles, not down one drop of oil from where I left it when I last changed it.

  8. I remember all of the 4WD trucks coming with the 4.10 gear, that I saw come through the shop and this is the information that is in the GM Order Referance charts which is what the sales department at the dealership used to order vehicles. This snippet is for the NHT RPO code for 2007 GMT900 Silverados. CK10543 is a crew cab short box and the CK10753 is an extended cab standard box. NEW! 9. My bad, I forgot that 2WD NHT's had 3.73's in '07. Actually it was a GMC CCSB 4WD. Bought it new off the lot, probably still have the window sticker somewhere. 6.0 Vmax with 3.73's. Sold it to a buddy of mine and loves it as much as I did. All 4wd, 4 speed nht trucks were 4.10 geared according to all of the GM order guides.
  10. My bad, I forgot that 2WD NHT's had 3.73's in '07.
  11. That's not hot and appears to be changing (from highway to city) just like it should. I'll assume your vmax had a 4L70 and 4.10 gears as well? That makes a huge difference. As long as that trans fluid isn't 240+, I wouldn't sweat a thing. P.S., I'd stop running lower than 91 octane as well cause you're just causing more issues with power and mileage because of it.
  12. Good to hear MPG numbers like that seeing as how that's the size tt I am looking into for next year and was expecting worse, honestly. Currently my truck, Non-NHT but 6.2, doesn't even know my pop-up is behind me. I pulled down 14.5 MPG pulling it a few weeks ago through some of Northern Michigan's hills but I also had a full load of goods in the bed, the a/c on and the cruise set at 72 MPH.
  13. My best with my ex. cab 3.42 geared 6.2 is 14.6 at 96. That was with the traction control off, stock 18" tires and in 2WD so the tires were rolling for about 30' before hooking up. The e.t. to MPH kinda shows that as well.
  14. Automatic transmission fluid begins to break down somewhere in the area of 240-260° F.
  15. No servo on the 6 speed. Got 14.5 mpg pulling my 2100 lb pop-up camper and about 500 lbs of additional cargo running 75 mph over a 300 mile road trip this past weekend and I was bucking 15-20 MPH winds up and back. Edit: Oh and the a/c was on too.
  16. It will be in 2014. Lots of iron block 6.0l parts still laying around.
  17. Good to see that! Just called on a 2010 GMC with a 6.2 & asked the salesman to tell me what the avg mpg was... 13.2 with 53,000 miles on it. Hope the guy had a lead foot because I am still going to go check it out. Mine probably averages that as well but I only have a 2 mile drive to work and I'm usually running ethanol these days. Don't buy it for the fuel mileage. My post was just to prove that a similarly equipped EB F-150 DOES NOT get a ton better mileage than a 6.2l GM. ESPECIALLY when they are towing a load then the GM 6.2l kills it.
  18. This average calculation was started with the truck still running ethanol on the trip up (100 miles one way and I went up and back the same day) so it still had 3-4 gallons of ethanol in the tank when I filled it back up with premium fuel for the ride back home.
  19. Eat your heart out EB fans. This is no b.s. and no I was not drafting a semi, going downhill or gettting pushed by a good tailwind.
  20. Had a set installed on mine before I took delivery. They look "unfinished" without, now that I'm use to seeing mine with them.
  21. Factory Silverado '07/'08 model year 20's with 275/60R20 Michelin LTX AT/2's. Love those wheels (need to find a set) and I loved those tires on my '98. 40k with less than 3/32 of wear. Ride like a dream with traction for days. I'd sell my factory 18's/Bridgestones in a second to swap it out for the 20's and Michelin's.
  22. No dealer allowed adjustments. That "dead spot" that you feel is called Torque Management. It is put in there because of all the complaints people had from the GMT800 series trucks with the stack up lash in the drivetrain making the "clunk clunk" sound everytime you got on and off the throttle. Plus, it also aids in adding some "Abuse Management" as well to help keep driveline parts from getting thrashed under severe situations. A custom tune can be done to take a small amount or all of it out of the system. I'll be honest, while I'd like some of it taken out of mine, I've also driven one with NO "dead spot" and almost made myself sick driving it because it was too touchy, imo.
  23. I've got others.......LOL.Besides, I'm sure (the numbers documented confirm it, actually) that he'd kill me in a 1/4 mile but stoplight to stoplight he couldn't shake me. See, that's BS. I busted my dealer's behind to make sure that they delivered it to me with premium fuel in it. Now, whatever they put in it to deliver it to me, no idea but it did show up in my driveway with full tank of Shell 93 in it.
  24. Never ran anything less than 92 octane so I can't tell you personally but I'm sure that I've heard around here from other guys how horrible their 6.2's ran on anything less than premium fuel. It calls for premium or ethanol so that is all I run. With the compression ratio and camshaft profile that this engine is running, and being a veteran engine builder, I know that it has the ability through the ecm to pull timing and keep the engine "safe" on low octane fuel but that's not what the engine needs so I don't run it. Had some smart ass kid chirp away from a stoplight in his brand new "boss" Poopstang this morning, on my way to the gym. Needless to say as he was running it out hard so I let the 6.2 eat and matched him door handle to door handle for a few blocks before we hit the next light. I love the looks on their faces when I do that.
