  1. Just gonna leave this here... https://blog.bds-suspension.com/?p=27372#comment-724578
  2. Does anyone have experience with belltech lift kits? I've seen plenty of positive reviews from their lowering kits. They've been in the suspension industry for a while, just not so much the trail or lift side. Long travel is the end goal, but a $700 coilover kit with a 5 yr warranty vs an extended strut sounds more functional. I'm considering the adjustable 3-4" lift coilovers, part #15203. -Helper spring -60mm damper body -35mm independent valves -20mm piston rod I've got a 2020 z71 with the 3.0 Duramax for those needing an image to work with. Still exploring UCA options. 35*12.5r17 will be the tire size. Probably going to order them next month.
  3. Has anyone use the OTC 6494 Clamshell style spring compressor to take apart the coil overs in the front? I have read a ton that the chinsey auto parts stores style are not safe and I would agree. Ive used them on lighter duty Mcphereson's and they still scared the crap out of me. I am wondering if the OTC one is strong enough or someone can say yay or nay on it? Heres a link to what I am talking about.
  4. Picked up a new GMC 2017 Duramax 2500HD that came leveled with 2.5-inch shock extensions, new torsion keys and 20x9 Fuel wheels w/ 305 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. With this setup do I need to be concerned with CV angles? Would adding UCA’s and new shocks improve things? If so, what option would you suggest? Cognito, CST, Fabtech… Bilstein, Fox... This truck will spend most of it's time on the road with only short offlroad runs to and from the trail head. I’d consider a proper 4-6” lift cranked down with 35’s but I’m worried about fitting into my parking structure. Also, I already have the 305’s and don’t want the wheel well gap or to worry about selling the 305’s. Currently the truck sits at about 80 inches; the same height as my buddy’s raptor that fits the parking structure with not much room to spare. How tall are you guys running a 4-6” lift on 35’s? Anybody running 4-6” on 33’s? Anybody have any feedback on the 3-6" S.T.L. High Clearance lift kit from CST? Also, for the cost of the 3-6” lift w/ a decent shock option, why not go with the coilover conversion from BDS? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
  5. I just bought a 2014 Silverado 1500 Z71 Crew Cab and I'm loving it. I want to level out the front end, to fit a little larger tire and make it look right, but I don't want to go with a spacer kit. Looking to improve the suspension travel and overall ride both on & off road, so I was thinking of going with an adjustable coilover (ie: Fox, Fabtech, King) to get 2"-2.5" of lift, plus add new uniball upper control arms. Has anyone gone with route, without going up to 4" plus of lift? I don't want to add that much lift, but want to improve ride. The road live out is a single lane, private road and has a bunch of speed bumps. I want to be able to cruise right over them (at around 10-15 mph is all) without having to slow down, hence the set up I'm considering. I used to have an '11 F-150 FX4 with Bilstein 5100's, but I felt like it didn't improve the ride when put under even mild wheel travel situations. Hoping others can vouch for a better experience going with a coilover system.
  6. picked up a used set of fox 2.0s and the seller shipped them with the preload adjusters uneven by alot. now i have the spanner wrench for it but it seem like a bear to spin that locking collar. went to the auto parts store and rented a spring compressor and it will not fit through the coils. So how far up on shock body does the preload collar need to be to get the advertised 2-2.25 of lift. ALso has anyone got any tips for turning the preload collar? i assume once they are bolted in with the truck off the ground is the best way to do it but it has to still be tough to turn. Thanks
  7. Greetings all, I've been on a suspension hunt since I purchased my truck 6/14. I had narrowed my choices down to Fox 2.0 (steel arms), Fox 2.5 or Icons depending on price. I'm also a member of silveradosierra.com and someone posted up a set of new Fabtech Dirtlogic 2.5 coilovers. Fabtech doesn't seem to get much love from the few forum posts I can find, does anyone have any knowledge about these shocks? They are manufactured in house and the sales guy thinks it's every bit as good or better than the Fox's, he offered to have to chat with the tech manager, but I didn't have any specific questions lined up so I did not speak with him. 2014 Silverado steel arms Dirtlogic 2.5 SS 2" (adjustable) 2.5" res - stainless steel 4" overall diameter 19.5" ext length - front 15.02" compressed - front 24.5" ext length - rear 16.27" compressed - rear. http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/GMC-CHEVY-4WD/K1500-2014-16/FACTORY-STEEL-SUSPENSION-W-STANDARD-SHOCKS/2-SYSTEMS/2-Uniball-UCA-System-w-Front-Dirt-Logic-SS-2-5-Coilovers-Rear-Dirt-Logic-SS-Shocks-2014-16-GM-C-K1500-2WD-4WD-p1983.html Any advice/commentary is welcome, i'd like to hear some first hand experiences if anyone has it. Thanks
  8. I have searched but haven't been able to find a clear description of the benefits of going with coilovers vs the standard suspension lift kit. Can someone fill me in on the benefits of coilover lifts? Also, they offer the add a leaf in the rear instead of the blocks, is this worth the upgrade as well? Thanks for your time!
