Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development was there that day and he and I sat together at lunch. I guess if it gets any better that is how. He is a pretty big fan of the new 2017 ZL1, and said this week, “The Camaro ZL1 is designed to excel at everything. It’s a 2+2 coupe offering incredible performance – acceleration, handling and braking – with the highest levels of technology and perfect chassis damping, making it suitable for everyday driving. It will compare well to any sports coupe, at any price and in any setting.” Please read about the new ZL1 here at our recent overview. Chevy is adding just few things to the ZL1 drop-top: Unique 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with 285/30ZR20 front and 305/30ZR20 rear tires Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires with a compound and construction developed exclusively for the Camaro to offer exceptional grip on the track Brembo brakes with six-piston monobloc front calipers – featuring the ZL1 logo – and massive, 15.35-inch (390 mm) two-piece front rotors. Chevy promises the track-ready convertible Camaro ZL1 will be available in about a year.

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 3/24/2016 Can the 2017 Camaro ZL1 Convertible be topped? Not from this fan's viewpoint. Just prior to our media group and our favorite test track deciding that 600 hp convertibles with journalists inside driving top-down without helmets might be a bad thing, my companion and I had the pleasure of wringing out the last-gen ZL1 in exactly that fashion. Any track day in any car is amazing, but top down, wind in your hair flooring one of the most powerful convertibles ever built? That is pretty much as good as it gets. European brands reviewed by fan-boy writers often emphasize a "Base-price" but then they actually test a far more expensive version of the vehicle. Heated seats, backup cameras and nav systems on many European brand's cars come bundled with so much other content that "base price" is meaningless. The Cascada may or may not be a vehicle that lights your fire. Of course we'd all like a convertible Camaro 2SS, but that car is in another price category. Setting aside our own model preferences for a moment, isn't always refreshing when GM goes head to head with the Euro brands and shows them up? The Corvette, Camaro, and SS have done that with the performance vehicles from the continent. Now GM is taking on the bulk of the sales from these companies. Bravo.

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 9/24/2015 As an auto enthusiast who reads pretty much every automotive publication, one of my biggest pet-peeves is that the magazines hate to compare "premium" brands with the "lesser" brands. Based on my own testing, and from a careful look at quality surveys from a variety of sources, what used to be called a luxury brand is no longer the case. That is why I loved the infographic GM created for the 2016 Cascada convertible comparing it to the Audi A3 cabriolet. Stone's story of the fight is pretty spooky. After recounting how he decided he "Wasn't going to die sitting down" and ran to tackle the terrorist, Stone told Kimmel that not only did the inept wanna-be killer point an AK at him and pull the trigger (malfunctioned), after they were locked up wrestling the terrorist also pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Stone's head and pulled the trigger (second malfunction). Handguns can be tricky, but AKs are not known to be difficult weapons to operate, nor do they fail very often. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj5nm24gCQY

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 9/10/2015 American hero Spencer Stone was handed the keys to a Camaro Convertible on the Tonight Show Tuesday night. Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors came out with a few gifts, one of which was the 2016 Camaro. A stick-shift by the way. Stone's story of the fight is pretty spooky. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/22/2015 Chevy has us looking forward to the new Camaro Convertible's "drop date" of this Wednesday. The tease video is pretty cool and it explains one of the Camaro's cool convertible tricks without using words or text. If you like muscle car convertibles this is one to watch. In our recent story about the Buick Cascada, Rayanbabz71 commented "Pretty cool convertible design, would I want one? No, the camaro fits the bill for me." Well here you go!

The two-plus-two front drive Cascada will be a cruiser. It comes with a 200hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and only a six speed automatic (no manual). If you want a sportier ragtop Chevy has the Camaro and Corvette in about a million different configurations. Many drivers want a convertible that does not have huge horsepower, carbon-ceramic brakes and a big price tag. They just want to feel the sun on their face and the wind in their hair. The new Cascada fills a slot in the GM lineup that has gone missing way too long. The yellow posts shown in the last image are the active rollover bars that pop up when needed.

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6/20/2015 Buick showed off its new Cascada's safety systems in a new press release this week. GM is long overdue in adding active rollover protection to its drop-tops, and this system is very welcome. However, what struck us as we checked out the images is that the Cascada is a fantastic looking car. The two-plus-two front drive Cascada will be a cruiser.
