The order guide for the 2027 GMC Sierra EV is out.  And just like the 2027 Silverado EV, this is a meaningful year. General Motors’ GMC brand gives the Sierra EV a native NACS charge port, swaps four exterior colors for four new ones, adds a Denali Dark Package, and stocks the accessory shelf with new wheels, lights, and even Brembo brakes.

Here is every change, pulled straight from the order book.

The Charge Port Flips to NACS

The headline change. For 2027, the Sierra EV trades its CCS1 inlet for a native NACS port (SAE J3400, the Tesla-style connector). Tesla Superchargers become plug-and-go, no adapter dangling off the fender. The included Dual Level Charge Cord (PSC) now ends in a J3400 vehicle connection as well.

The accessory list confirms the flip. The adapters GMC now offers all point the other direction, described in the guide as intended for “NACS native inlet vehicles.” Three dealer-provided packages bundle them so buyers do not have to puzzle out the combinations:

Package What You Get
(PEB) Level 2 and Fast Charging Adapter Package (RYK) GM J1772 AC adapter + (RYW) GM CCS1 DC adapter
(PEC) Charging Essentials Package Both adapters + GM PowerUp 2 home charger (11.5 kW)
(PED) Premium Charging Package Both adapters + GM Energy PowerShift bidirectional charger (19.2 kW) + (RYN) PowerShift AC adapter

The CCS1 adapter pulls double duty: it also handles vehicle-to-home discharging through the PowerShift Charger, so the Sierra EV keeps its party trick of powering your house in a blackout. DC fast charging capability itself is unchanged: up to 220 kW on Standard Range, 300 kW on Extended Range, and 350 kW on the 800-volt Max Range pack.

Four Colors In, Four Colors Out

Deep Bronze Metallic (GXN), Thunderstorm Gray (GNO), Magnus Gray Matte (GBL), and Deep Ocean Metallic (GAI) are gone. In their place: Azurite Blue Metallic, Dark Ridge Metallic, Deep Void Matte, and Marine Teal, all arriving after the start of production.

The touch-up paint numbers tell a fun family story. Azurite Blue Metallic (WA-243L) is the same paint the Silverado EV calls Pacific Blue, and Marine Teal (WA-131H) is Chevrolet’s Lagoon wearing a GMC badge. Dark Ridge Metallic (WA-243F) is the very same gray that just landed on the 2027 Canyon under the same name and on the 2027 Colorado as Storm Gray Metallic. Deep Void Matte replaces Magnus Gray Matte as the lineup’s flat-finish flagship.

Here is the full 2027 palette:

Denali Goes Dark

New for 2027 is the (WJU) Denali Dark Package, flagged as late availability. It blacks out the assist steps, the grille surround, and the nameplates, then finishes the look with dark wheels that scale with your battery choice. On the Denali Extended Range it brings 22-inch Painted Deep Space wheels with a black lug nut and wheel lock kit, and those get upgraded to the new 24-inch 6-Split-Spoke High Gloss Black wheels when the Denali Reserve Package is on the order. On the Denali Max Range, which includes Reserve equipment, the 24s are part of the package from the start.

New Dealer-Installed Goodies, Including Brembo Brakes

The LPO (dealer-installed) accessory list picks up some legitimately interesting hardware this year. The one that jumps off the page: a performance brake kit with red Brembo 6-piston front calipers for a truck that weighs over 8,000 pounds. Physics appreciates the help. That said, braking performance has never been a complaint on any GM EV I’ve driven, including our HUMMER EV. So, consider it a looks over function upgrade.

New LPO Details
(5JL) Front and Rear Performance Brake Kit Red Brembo 6-piston front calipers with larger pads and rotors, GMC logo up front, color-matched red rear calipers. Elevation and Denali only
(RZU) Front Auxiliary Off-Road Lights Available on every trim, requires the (VBP) Power Distribution Box
(SND) 24″ Bright PVD Wheels Denali with Reserve Package, not compatible with the Denali Dark Package
(SNY) 24″ 6-Split-Spoke Wheels, High Gloss Black Denali only, included with the Denali Dark Package
(63G) MultiPro Tailgate Step Lights All trims, lights up the tailgate step for after-dark loading
(TRO) Trailer View Camera, wired All trims except the Standard Range Elevation

More Standard Equipment, Fewer Mirror Choices

A few running changes tidy up the spec sheet for 2027:

Change What It Means
(DX6) Upgraded outside mirrors now standard on all models Heated, power-adjustable, power-folding with driver-side auto-dimming. The old (DLF) manual-folding and (DXR) power-adjustable mirrors are deleted
(UCV) Interior Camera, new and standard on every trim Enables Cabin Glance remote check-ins and interior security recording
(UV2) HD Surround Vision adds Surround Vision Recorder The standard camera system now includes recording and Security Recordings
Antenna is now Gloss Black on all models A small trim change across the lineup

One note for the RPO code spotters: with DX6 standard everywhere, the Sierra EV mirror option list collapses from three codes to one.

The 2027 Sierra EV Lineup at a Glance

The trim walk is unchanged: Elevation, AT4, and Denali, each defined by battery choice, every one a Dual Motor 4WD crew cab with the 5-foot-11 bed.

Model Battery Output (up to) DC Fast Charge
Elevation 3SB Standard Range 605 hp / 605 lb-ft 220 kW
Elevation 3SC Extended Range 645 hp / 765 lb-ft 300 kW
AT4 4SC Extended Range 625 hp / 775 lb-ft 300 kW
AT4 4SD Max Range 725 hp / 775 lb-ft 350 kW
Denali 5SC Extended Range 645 hp / 785 lb-ft 300 kW
Denali 5SD Max Range 760 hp / 785 lb-ft 350 kW

Capability holds steady too: up to 12,500 pounds of towing on the Elevation Extended Range (the Denali Extended Range matches it with the K28 charger and coil suspension) and up to 2,250 pounds of payload on the Standard Range truck.

Buy a 2026 or Order a 2027?

If Deep Ocean Metallic or Thunderstorm Gray is your color, a 2026 on a dealer lot is the only way to get it, and end-of-year pricing is on your side. For everyone else, the 2027 is the easy call. The native NACS port means the charging network this truck will lean on for the next decade is built into the fender, not carried in the frunk. Add the new colors, the Denali Dark Package, and the Brembo kit, and the 2027 order book is simply the better one.
