  1. The vehicles do in fact have SIM cards, it is the only way it can talk on the cellular network. I was concerned it may not be easily accessible but will do some trial and error on my vehicle. It does not matter if you have an active data plan or an Onstar subscription, the connection is still very much active and sending data to GM. This has been verified by forensic data analysis. There is an option to disable certain functions of Onstar, which in turn limits some of the data GM receives. We as the user do not have this ability. You must press the blue Onstar button and request remote disable from an advisor. This still does not stop certain functions from reporting back to GM. For many this may not be an issue. As someone very much in the trenches of cyber security and data privacy, I was taken back at what is going on here. It is not just GM, but that is the only vehicle I currently own that has the capabilities.
  2. I do a lot with data security. Today I learned something new about these trucks, their data collection habits and undocumented sharing with GM in which I have no say or control. I will not touch my truck until I know how to disable LTE. Does anyone have any insights on where the SIM card for the LTE modem is housed? I would like to remove it and see where things go from there.
  3. I got just over 17.5% off MSRP on my LT 3500 Duramax out the door.

Links are for Chevy diesel, but do cross over to GMC gasser.
  5. Just curious if anyone has added this to their 2500/3500? I have read through a few posts on the 1500 side and I found a really good price on the kit, sd card and activation code.
  6. Gotcha, reading comprehension issue on my end.
  7. By chance I came across this truck which has both the bed view camera and the rear camera mirror. At least on a Chevy, looks like you have to re-add the rear view mirror (and its full cost, even though its included in the Convenience Package II) when building the vehicle and selecting the bed view camera... However if I were to build a Chevy or GMC, it doesn't allow both options. I wonder if this is a glitch on the web site and maybe it orders up okay at the dealer?
  8. I had this issue with my order. I opted to add the Bed View Camera with the delete of HD vision. My priority was the bed view camera, the review mirror was a bonus. Not sure if that was the smart move but it is what it is now. My truck hasn't been delivered yet to know what I get.
  9. For me, I usually can locate those types of add-ons much cheaper than at time of order. This one has been unique because they keep finding flaws and issuing new part numbers for the new fixes and then pulling stock of the old ones... supply and demand.
  10. This is supposedly coming back in stock tomorrow for $356.25 new customers save 5% with code NEW2020: https://www.shopchevyparts.com/electronics/2020-silverado-3500-transparent-trailer-camera-auxiliary-trailer-camera-models-with-cwm-pdm-uvn/84946379-p-92306103.html. Replaces 84876818, 84518122, 84477541, 84605536, 84580657, 84477539. I don't know much about this store other than I ordered another part from them over the weekend that is currently on its way to me, pretty quick to ship.
  11. Not as long as I have seen a few people around here, it has for sure been a journey. Just happy to be on the final stretch!
  12. Got news that my truck shipped by rail last week headed to Wentzville, MO. GM chat gave me the container number the truck sits on, unfortunately there is no way I have found to track it... I just eagerly wait...
  13. Silverado and Diesel. I can tell you my dealer put the order in as a priority 2 and is a volume dealer, I am assuming that helped speed things up.
  14. My truck is an LT, Ordered March 16th and was just built this week. Got the VIN this morning.
  15. I'm a little nervous how incentives will change, my truck was built this week. I like the current incentives plus the extra Costco offer, would set me up pretty sweet. Gotta wait I am guessing three-ish weeks for the dealer to get the truck in.
  16. About two and a half weeks for me.
  17. I would check this out to see if you can make your own....
  18. With all this craziness I received some good news today... My truck preliminarily falls into the 6/22/20-6/28/20 production period
  19. Has this been your experience? I have yet to find a chat rep to give me the event code, do I just need to keep trying to find one that will?
  20. Some good news... https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2020/05/28/gm-adding-second-shifts-truck-plants-next-week/5274744002/
  21. Due to the timing of my order, I fully expect a call from the dealer saying GM canceled the order...
  22. Some good news. After a bit or research on the dealership, I sent an email to a specific person at Laura explaining what was going on and promptly received a phone call from the GM. We had a positive conversation and I now have the correct information. Now we just play the waiting game to see how all of this turns out with COVID.
  23. After receiving an escalation from GM customer service I finally received a call from Laura with the order confirmation number... Problem is when I check to verify it, I am told it is not valid. I was told to check my paperwork.. I laughed as Laura hasn't sent me anything. I have sent an email to my sales person requesting a copy of the workbench order.
  24. I am aware there is a strong possibility I may not see this order and that it may get canceled. All I want is transparency and a truck before 1 Sept.
  25. It has been over two weeks since I ordered with Laura. The order should have been placed about a week before the GM shutdown was announced. Laura has taken my deposit and to-date has refused to give me an order number. I have called the dealership several times requesting the order number and asking if by chance an allocation was issued prior to the shutdown. I am told no one is in to provide that information or my sales rep continuously tells me he will call back and never does. I know full well its gonna be a while. I just want to know exactly where things stand. For now, I have opened a case with GM to find out if an order was actually placed or if they sat on the paperwork.. Either way, they took my money.
