  1. I picked up my 2500hdAT4 gas on August 15th, so far very pleased with all aspects of the truck. Took about a week to get used to the size and driving characteristics from my 2014 Sierra 1500, but nothing major, parking and narrow roads are fun. I took the truck on a long trip Monday 8/31 about 600 miles total to the top of Mt. Washington Auto road and back. It got a respectable 15.5mpg all around. I thought that was fair given going up an 8 mile auto road was steep and coming down I was in low gear. The truck rides good and is very comfortable. I just got back from towing my travel trailer for the first time, it is light for this truck at 7700lbs fully loaded, so i would say arounf 55-6000 with all of stuff in it. Truck was confident had plenty of power and had awesome grade breaking compared to the 1500. I got around 9.4mpg for the entire trip, which is ok, i saved 10k from getting a diesel so i knew fuel cost were going to be more. Overall after 1300 miles in about a month I love this truck. Not a lot on the road so it feels unique, gets a bunch of looks and it will be pulling a fifth wheel in the next 18-24 months hopefully. I feel full confident in it's ability, the extra weight and added payload and power are awesome. Like you guys said a mild tune and it will be unbeatable. Mike
  2. I just picked up my 2500HD AT4 yesterday and plan on getting a fifth wheel in the next 2-3 years. There are plenty of fifth wheels that our trucks are capable of pulling with plenty of left over payload. Grand Design makes at least two or three in the 30-35 foot range. I like the fact that when you know your capabilities and max weights it can limit the amount of options that you can pick from because there are so many options out there. My two cents on toy haulers are you are getting the best of both worlds, RV and a trailer for your gear in one. The toys themselves are heavy so make sure you know that weights of all the stuff going in the toy hauler. Also be aware that toy hauler fifth wheels are designed to have the toys in the back so unloaded tongue weights can be higher than actual weight to make it easier to calculate GVWR. In my estimation you may have to get a smaller toy hauler to stay safe.
  3. EXACTLY!
  4. Have to wait till the end of the week, most likely next week to get everything figured out. Service manager is away and general sales manager is in Russia watching the olympics. was there any improvement at all from the new tires?
  5. Yeah door jam, area behind the door, i guess the sill, or threshold. must be a new england thing
  6. the build date is on the sticker in the door jam.
  7. Sorry for you brother, this entire process is so frustrating. I am dealing with GM now, Dealership pretty much said they can not do anything more for me and directed me to go to GM. We talked on friday, idk what the ultimate result is going to be yet, but tomorrow is the day I hope this will all be resolved. Idk if I asked you this yet, but when was your truck built, mine was june 2013. Just curious
  8. Just an update on my vibration issues, after the bridgestones were installed still vibrates over 60. Not the v4 drone that happens, at least in mine do other people feel that? The vibration is in the steering wheel, and floor, it feels like you are never in a smooth road, ever. Constant vibration in the steering wheel on the highway, over 2k on it and it did since day one, balancing the driveshaft did help a little, but feels like it is coming back. GM field service engineer said it was fixed and now dealership is saying there hands are tied and have to wait to here from district manager to see about a resolution. How would other people describe there vibration? How did they give you on trade?
  9. went to dealerships today to pick up truck, new bridgestones on it and feels the same. Idk maybe I am crazy ginna have my buddy drive he has a 2014 wt, I am gonna drive his and see if there is a difference Called GM and expressed my utter and complete dissatisfaction with my truck and the entire experience, gotta wait and see now. Took it home because 6-10" of snow coming in tonight, woohoo
  10. Hi Mark, I am aware of the 4cyl vibration and I can live with that for the mileage it has been getting on the highway best 22.4mpg. The driveshaft and two new tires took care of the floor/seat/gas pedal vibration I will give them that, but there is still a slight vibration in the steering wheel. Idk how they missed or did not address this you only have your hands on the wheel 100% of the time. Do you know what Bridgestones they are getting us? I asked, he was not sure and i was done there. I am hoping they take care of the rest of it for me. Your vibration does sound different than mine, It was always above 50mph for me. No experience with Tundra's, if i were to go another way it would be ford or see how the diesel ram 1500 is. Mike
  11. Hey Mark, just got back from the dealership, drove home in a nissan rouge. After all that the truck still had a vibration in the steering wheel. It was not awful but there, drove with shop Forman and he felt it, told jeff when we got back. We are going to get rid of the goodyears, for bridgestones. After that there really no other option, also the third attempt is the tires so idk what happens after. Jeff told me that he knew you and I have talked on the forum and understands our frustrations. I lost my cool for a good part of my three our trip and got pretty loud. This is a condensed version of the entire encounter, but it us not perfect as they stated and at this point i will no accept anything but. Message me with questions Mike
  12. PM26 I agree, tires can and are bad from the factory, when I was a Jaguar tech we used continentals all the time and the cheaper ones seemed to be one out of eight was bad out of the box. Then all of a sudden they were back ordered then boom no more issues once the new ones got there. Just trying to say that these things happen, a couple bad days of tire manufacturing can cause thousands of bad tires. I am truly hoping my truck that i have not even made a payment on and has been in the shop twice is fixed! My only real frustration with the process is that I swore up and down it was tires to the dealer and they told me they checked out good. Now they are bad, but again these things happen. In my short life no matter the make or manufacturer of anything there can and will be issues, I just wish it didn't happen on my truck. But if GM steps up and makes it right, hopefully I will love this truck for a long time Mike
  13. yeah, I guess that maybe since i had a case open about two weeks ago then they have more freedom. I emailed gm and they called that night, then since it was taking to long to get things done i requested to be transferred to a district manager and she called or emailed jeff and they set the engineer up. We'll see what all this leads to. mike
  14. To be honest with you Mark, Jeff seems like a reasonable enough guy and actually concerned about fixing this stuff, i would ask to swap wheels and tires from another truck and see how it does in the am after a cold soak, i mean what do they have to loose at this point? just a thought mike
  15. Yes that is where it was serviced, I live up on the north shore so it was a pain but they had good deals. I am sorry that they can't fix it, I hope that it does go down that road for me. The fourth time is lemon law right? Did they ever say that they verified the vibration, i am guessing yes because they did all that work? There is a 15 days in the shop part too, all info available if you google mass lemon law. I have the goodyear assurance too, idk what the difference is in the updated one, but i said tires from day one, the salesman even said he felt it on the first test drive and i made hime tell the managers there. My only Michelin experience is with ltx ms2s i had on a nissan xterrs, awesome tires, no balance issues ever, wore like iron and gripped great, if this all works out and my truck is fixed once it is time for tires getting them again for sure. Sorry they did not help you today, i will keep you posted on the repairs.
  16. Talked to service manager today from the dealership that sold me my truck, the GM field service engineer was there today working on multiple trucks with vibrations. He. told me that they found that all four tires were bad, after they drove them for a while the road force actually went up causing them to be out of spec, which is characteristic of my complaint that it seems to get worse the longer i drive. He also said that the engineer found the driveshaft out of balance wih his analyzer after the tires were changed to brand new updated goodyears (not to thrilled but if they don't vibrate all is good), he told me that he has the euipment to balamce the driveshaft and is doing it as we were speaking. He has to roadtest in the morning and will let me know how it goes. I am happy that they found problems and hopefully made the right repairs, i will have to drive it and see. wish me luck. As far as the road to get the engineer to come out it took about a week for him to get to Boston area and i was told he was the only one who would be working on my truck, so lets see if it was worth the wait. Idk why they could not have at least found the bad tires the first time? Mike
  17. dropped of my silverado yesterday to the dealer. the gm firld service engineer is coming wendsday next week to fix it. service manager said that they are not going to touch the truck he will be the o ly one working on it and he will do what ever it takes to fix it. there are also four others with similar concerns at the smae dealer coming for him next week, per service manager. i will let everyone what they find or don't find. mike
  18. went to the gm customer service site and emailed them with my vin and complaint, got a call less than an hour later. i was hoping it was going to be some help, nope. just called to make sure that the dealer is addressing my concern. i asked if there was anyway to expedite the process or something, he told me they would call back tomorrow and see if the dealer contacted me with the next step, if not then they will pass to a district manager, blah blah blah. everybody wants to talk about how to fix my truck, instead of actually doing it. does not make sense, dealer has not tried another set of wheels and tires, off one of the hundreds they have on the lot, nothing just road force the tires and call the engineer. no thinking outside the box.
  19. well i talked to goodyear customer service and they said they would adress my concern a gave me a claim number. i scheduled an appointment for friday am, the guy on the phone did seem relucant to look at a brand new truck and saud i could go to any chevy dealer and they should be able to fix it. i just fugured i would cut out the middle man and see what happens. called the dealer back and they have not even got a reply from the field service engineer, so no progress on that end. seems like poor customer service on gm's part, there is another truck witht the same concern at the dealer, they told me, want to get them both there at the same time. given that there are now two at the same delaer you would think that gm would want to fix them asap, but the guy did not even write back. getting friggin pissed now, two weeks i have had this truck and shakes and ruins my new truck experience mike
  20. Sounds very similar to my situation now, there is a goodyear store in the next town over from me. think i may pop in tomorrow to see what they have to say. Just wondering if they gave you a hard time at all, being that you technically did not but tires from good year? I am jsut afraid of them telling me to bad kid you bought the truck from chevy take it back and it would be a big waste of time. Also did they charge you anything to check them for you? thanks Mike
  21. Hello everyone. I am having a very subtle vibration as well, it is in the steering wheel, gas pedal, headrest and i feel when sitting in the passenger seat from the floor. It is a silverado crew cab v8 short box. I felt it on the test drive and told the sales man he said he felt it too, tried to get another truck but did not have another black available (or so they said). He had me drive another one with 20" wheels and different tires on it, i have 18" wheels with goodyears on it. Had the truck for two weeks now and find myself enjoying it except on the highway. took it back to the dealer and they said that the road force was good on all the tires and that hey used some vibration analysis tool that gm had and 20 or lower was good while driving, and my truck was 11. I was an auto tech for five years (lexus and jaguar) and have a degree in automotive technology, and it seems like bad tires to me, they are saying they are good, anyone have these tires and get them replaced. Service manager also told me if i was not happy they would bring i the field service engineer and he has all this special tools to narrow it down. this is my first chevy and i can say i am disappointed thus far, has anyone gone down this road yet and if so was it resolved for you? thanks Mike
