Shake or Vibration Issues

It's the DMA (District Manager After-Sales). They are the local decision makers on buy backs and trade assistance, they are given a budget to pacify aggravated customers in their district. Sometimes they offer buy back and other times they offer trade assistance. If they offer trade assistance it is used to help offset the depreciation of your vehicle towards another GM vehicle. The average customer doesn't get to talk directly to the DMA, normally the dealership Service Manager communicates directly with the DMA and relays the info to the customer. If the DMA offers you a deal and you accept then a GM corporate repurchase coordinator will contact you directly and provide assistance through the entire process. Good luck!! -

There are a lot more people with issues than the ones posting in this thread, most people will try to get it fixed a couple times and then just give up. After enough BS from GM they eventually just trade it in. Thats why I see tons of used 14, 15, and now 16 GM trucks on used car lots with less then 10,000 miles on them and thats a DAMN shame. Its not just vibrations that GM doesn't want to fix, its just about everytime you bring your truck to the dealership that they will usually call it "normal" or "could not duplicate". Its just a matter of time before quality issues catch up with GM and start hurting their profits, but unfortunately for customers right now they're sitting fat and happy and don't give a shit! -

If you guys want buy back or trade assist you need to convince your service manager to contact the DMA (District Manager After-sales) and request it. Of course you need to have a Service Manager that cares and wants to help, without it, you are probably dead in the water. Most DMA's like to keep a low profile, they don't want their phone number or email publicized. Normally the customer doesn't get to communicate directly with the DMA, that's where the Service Manager comes into play. -

Well there you have it then, problem solved, everyone posting in this thread with vibration issues is just "super sensitive" or full of shit. All the buy backs, trade assists, and replaced parts were for nothing, just a bunch of super sensitive overgrown cry babies. Why come to this thread just to tell everyone they are full of shit, last I knew to be a member of this forum there is not a requirement to post in this thread. -

They are dampers and lessen vibration due to exhaust resonance. Many automotive manufactures use them. BMW, Lexus, Ford, this picture is an obsolete version that Chrysler used. The intent is to add weight, therefore damping the vibration and/or vibrating the damper instead of the floorboard. -

Some people were offered trade in assistance towards the purchase of another GM truck and that's all GM would offer them. They weren't offered Buy-back and that's why some people are on their 2nd or even 3rd GM truck. When you finance and are stuck with payments sometimes you are at the mercy of the manufacture and have to take what you can get, unfortunately some of these guys keep ending up with another vibrator. I was offered trade assistance towards a 2015 6.2L 4x4 Z71 and when it arrived it vibrated worse than my 2014. I drove 2 more on their lot, a 2015 Silverado and a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali and they both vibrated, so I gave up on GM and traded in for another brand. Lost my ass on the deal too because other dealerships are catching on that the GM trucks vibrate and they won't give you shit for trade in value. -

I think many of us were "Brand Loyal" problem being the "Brand isn't Loyal" anymore. -

This would require GM to admit that there is a vibration problem with some of their 1500 series pickups and I don't anticipate them ever admitting it. With all the parts that have been replaced by dealerships that acknowledge there is a problem, I am hesitant to believe that a simple clamp on a leaf spring is the cure. Like I said, for 18 bucks it's worth a try for anybody with a vibrator but I don't think its the cure. It's been going on for so long now that I believe overall GM is ignoring the issue and just taking hits here and there on those who find solutions via the BBB. I was told awhile back by my local dealer that requests for vibration cures must be submitted to GM for approval before repair attempts are made, those dealerships that attempt repairs without approval with not be reimbursed for their efforts. -

the $18 shouldn't break anybody I get that, for those who are not mechanically inclined this is not a difficult task to perform, pretty basic stuff, just make sure you get the nuts tight enough and recheck them after driving. -

But haven't others on this forum tried this leaf spring clamp idea and it didn't change their vibration? -

Great suggestion, why doesn't GM buy a shitload of these clamps and try them on the vibrating trucks in front of and behind the axle. They are only $18, then everyone will love their truck and won't bother others by coming to this thread and posting. -

Well at least your dealership is willing to admit that there is a problem and that's a step in the right direction however, this probably wouldn't be the case if the owner didn't own a vibrator also. By the sound of your conversation with them at least they will not give you a hard time if you get an aftermarket tune, not all dealerships are like that. Edit: I would love for a dealership to tell me, "hey, just get an aftermarket tune like Diablo" Edit: and I see that you're verified too, it always helps when you're "verified", lol -

unfortunately now you have to get them to admit that the vibration in your current truck is "not a normal characteristic of the truck" and then get them to attempt to fix it 4 times. Damn....you're starting all over again with your second vibrator like so many others we have seen on this and other forums. good luck!! -

you will probably receive a response from a "verified GM customer service representative" telling you how sorry they are and how they would like to help you with this issue. Edit: Don't be fooled by their bogus interpretation of caring for customers -

They probably get commission based on the number of forum members they respond to. "Hello, this is so-n-so blah blah blah I really care about your concern regarding your trucks vibration however, our engineers suck and we are unable to effective repair this issue. Have a great day!" -

Interesting, so what happens if you put "verified GM representative"? Do the forum police come looking for you? I thought you had to actually be verified to use these titles. -

GM Customer Service posting back to back to back cut and paste apologies definetly don't seem genuine and they just makes you look like fools, almost like you're taunting folks to attack you. However, this is a true representation of GM's current lackluster attitude towards its customers. -

Pretty sad, 1 (2014) Sierra, 2 (2014) Silverado, 1 (2015) Silverado all traded in at the local Hyundai dealership because most other dealerships have caught on to the issues and don't want them. -

GM knows they have issues with these trucks. Dealerships have been told that if they want to be reimbursed they should not go rogue trying to find solutions without first asking permission from GM. Most dealerships will insist that they feel nothing and you are nuts. If you have lifts, levels, and/or aftermarket wheels and tires they will initially blame it on that until you remove them and then they won't be able to feel it. This is a mess, I am very suprised the media hasn't exploted this issue yet. I see traded in 2014/15 GM trucks with less than 10,000 miles and tons of mods installed sitting at competitor dealerships everywhere. Who buys a brand new truck, mods it out with lifts, wheels, and tires and then trades it in with 8000 miles on it. GM doesn't seem to really care about it. I think they have moved on, so if your truck has developed the dreaded shake and/or vibration and you're looking for it to be fixed by GM, don't hold your breath. -

"Smooth road shake" really! Sounds like just another made up GM fault condition to justify the incompetence of their engineers. "Smooth road shake" that's hilarious, so now vehicles are suppose to shake and vibrate on smooth roads, it even sounds stupid when you say it.
