  1. Working on getting the new gauges in the Coronet, among other things. I'm also relocating the battery, installing a mini starter, hopefully a set of TTI headers and upgrading the 8 3/4 rear ended to 3.90 gears with a sure grip. If I have time before summer I may even swap the 80's Cordoba brake booster for a 7-9" aftermarket unit, to give a little more space under the hood. I'm trying to decide which set up I want for the gauges. I've narrowed it down to the bottom left or two middle on the right.
  2. They look like they'll suck in the snow or ice IMHO. I've never found a mud tire that was good in the snow or ice, they act more like slicks in the rain than anything.
  3. Started out doing the 4-Hi mod, and ended up removing the grille and lights as the passenger headlight and core support were damaged by a deer prior to purchase. The circled area's are where the core support is bent from the deer. Not bad considering what a deer did to my S10 years ago. I'm going to pull this back out and line it all bad up. You can see here the lower tab is broken off of the headlight. The next two pics you can see the other damage to the light. The pins that you remove to pull the headlight are both damaged to the point they just spin and I couldn't remove the headlight. Which is what led to the grille coming off. So I'm now looking for new headlights, matching turn signals (as the ones I have now are getting water inside) and I'm thinking of a new grille while I'm at it. May even put the 20" LED light bar behind the grille too.
  4. Picked out the latest edition to the fleet a 2016 Yamaha Kodiak 700 SE to plow and do the odd trail rides...
  5. lol, that's still in better shape than most of the trucks around here that have never been undercoated and have been driven year round.
  6. You think that's rusted out? I'd love it if my 16 year old truck, that appears to have never been undercoated, looked that good underneath...
  7. I have an old muscle car and you seem to be forgetting that in order for them to be fast many had gears based for drag racing and at best a 4 speed manual transmission. They could launch, and had a great 60', but no top end. Most modern cars and SUV's would have no problem catching a muscle car after a quarter mile... Acceleration is where the muscle car will likely get a modern commuter car, but the modern car is going to outrun the muscle car in a long run. Modern cars have more gears, highway gearing and a more stable platform at higher speeds. So stop talking out of your ass, you're embarrassing yourself... Given the option I'll always take a muscle car over a soulless like-a-like modern car. But I'm not delusional enough to think I going to out run a 6 speed 250hp SUV on a long run, in my 3 speed 4.10 geared 395hp muscle car, just because I have more HP.
  8. Nah... It's just a fast truck... The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door or 4-door sports cars with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."[2] A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2-door, rear wheel drive, family-style mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for street use and occasional drag racing.[3][4][5][6] They are distinct from two-seat sports cars and expensive 2+2 GTs intended for high-speed touring and road racing. That bold and underlined bit right there is why they don't make Muscle cars anymore.
  9. To me this is an oxymoron. I'm old school, if it ain't a V8, it ain't a muscle car... Sports car maybe, but not a muscle car...
  10. He have a Tundra at work now and it lasted about a month before we took it out of work duty service. It was utterly garbage. The last straw was when we tried to tow a 5500lbs trailer to site and the Tundra damn near killed itself. This is a trip our Silverado's, F150's, and Ram's make on a regular basis and they were all RCLB (V8) trucks, the Tundra is an extended cab with a 5.7. We've given the tundra to the field checker, because that's about all it can handle, a couple sheets of paper in the bed...
  11. My 2014 would knock down 650-700 km to a tank weekly, when I was living in the city. I'm in the country now, so my fuel economy has only improved. The 14's are completely different engine than the 13 trucks. Also I said 1300kms if I had a 136L tank... Read the post, don't just skim it...
  12. Found, I was cleaning out a shed on my grandpa's property and they were inside. Noticed they were old police rims off a 70's Chrysler. For the most part it's just a cruiser, but I have taken it to the track a few times now. I have a spare 8 3/4 rear with 4.10's, so if I ever feel like drag racing I can swap gears in about an hour at the track (or at home and put up with the high rpms and bad fuel economy for the hour long drive) and take it down the track all weekend.
  13. Test fit some 15x8 rims I found. not sure if I'm going to mount slicks or find some 15x7 for the front and get matching dog dish hub caps...
  14. Every time I fill up my 2016 F150 I see that in kms, 136l tank and I usually get 1100-1200 km to a tank. Seems good, but if I had a 136l tank in my 2014 Silverado I bet it would do better, probably over 1300kms.
  15. Brought it home for a bit again... The two 5.0's together again lol...
  16. My 91 still has all the original ball joints. Only reason the outer tie rods were replaced was because of the spindle lift. When I did the spindle lift, I thought about doing the ball joints, even bought the parts. But, they were in such great shape, I left them. Still no problems... The newer trucks don't seam to be as stout as the older trucks were. I mean, they can tow more, they are more powerful and stop and handle better, but the old truck just seam more robust...
  17. Brought the old girl home today. My parents have had it for a few weeks, while they are doing some reno's. It's been to the dump a few times now, definitely needs a bath...
  18. Thank you, she's a little rough around the edges, but then again that's what makes it enjoyable to drive...
