  1. Mine passed as well, as did my son’s. I don’t know why your oil changes would be more expensive.
  2. Nothing from GM Canada to me yet.......
  3. I spoke to GM Canada today. They said the recall notice is out but the solution is not available yet. I have to wait until I get a second letter stating that the parts are available before they can do anything. In the meantime, keep driving and bring it to the dealer if you have any issues.
  4. I got my recall notice from GM Canada a couple of weeks ago. I took it to the dealer and they said there's no need to do anything. I'm under warranty until 100,000 km (50,000 on it now) so just leave it; if the engine fails it will be covered under warranty. He said why change the engine now when you can get it changed at 99,000 if it needs it. Sounds questionable. I'm going to phone GM Canada and ask them.
  5. I was getting intermittent HOOD OPEN notices on the DIC in my 2008 Sierra 1500. I replaced the hood latch and the notice was still intermittent but became more and more frequent to the point that it now is a permanent "HOOD OPEN" alarm. I checked and cleaned the ground to the frame at point G101-no change. I suspect a wire has been rubbing somewhere between the switch and the BCM but I don't know where the wires run. Do they run through the main fuse box or an auxiliary fuse/junction box? It's getting cold and I need my remote start. TY.
  6. Follow up-So, I was at the dealer this morning and was told that this is Google integration and nothing can be done about it. They said they've had numerous complaints about it. I consider this nagware.
  7. 2022 Sierra Refresh. I decided not to continue with the data plan and Google's apps. The speed sign is blank white and bright on my HUD. You can go into the dash configuration and turn it off, but every time I restart the truck, it's back. I can configure the gauges any way I want (almost) and they stay, but not the speed sign in the HUD. How do I remove it permanently?
  8. My '22 is a refresh. The 5 second push and hold definitely turns this feature on and off (for me). Not sure about the '23. My dealer has limited knowledge on these things as well. I got my info from GM Customer Service.
  9. There is a design in the tailgate to not have one door open if the other door (can't remember which) is already open so that, as someone mentioned, it does not get damaged by a hitch. I don't have my new truck with me today or I'd confirm but I think you press the button and hold for 5 seconds (the taillights will flash twice) to turn this feature on or off.
  10. The Google thing was driving me nuts. I opted not to continue with the outrageous data plan, as I have everything on my phone. Now, every time i get in the car, I get: You do not have Google. Would you like Google? Are you sure you don't want Google? Have you checked with your wife to see if she wants Google...... I finally figured out to go to settings>Apps and disabled everything Google. Then no radio, no Sirius, etc. I think I turned Google keyboard back on. Seems to not bug me now. One other thing, HUD speeds signs are just a white box now that I don't have a data plan. You can turn it off in the dashboard settings but it comes back after every restart. Hopefully the above update will fix that. I'll try. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. I have the same problem. If I'm listening to the radio or Sirius, and I receive a text, it switches to Source:Carplay and Apple Music to whatever I happened to be listening to previously on the phone. I also have the same problem as you, heffneil, after a call. Also, every time i get in the truck, the radio says 'Loading...." forever until I hit the up or down channel button behind the steering wheel and only then will it start playing. My dealer has no idea, GM customer service has no idea, and OnStar has no idea.
  12. You should be able to find what you need at https://www.gmupfitter.com
  13. Once again, never at startup. Only when fully warm, and usually at highway speeds, lifting off the throttle. Happens only once every several weeks.
  14. Never smoke on startup. Only when the truck is well warmed up and usually at highway speeds and only when I lift off the throttle. It does use a couple of quarts every 4K miles but it always has. I had a bad intake valve seat on the passenger side that was causing rough idle and throwing the engine light. I had the head rebuilt so that's all good but it didn't change the oil burning situation or the blue puff. This is the second engine on the truck (don't get me started). On the first engine the oil consumption was cured (relatively) by replacing the (I believe driver's side) valve cover. But that engine never did the embarrassing blue puff.
  15. 2008 Sierra, 5.3L w/ 150K miles. As the title says, about once a month or so, I will get a huge, and I mean huge, puff of blue smoke out of the exhaust. It's strange that it's so intermittent, and I cannot purposefully replicate it. It's random except that I notice it as I lift off the throttle, never under acceleration. Any ideas?
  16. Yes. Not sure about your tire but these are 22s on an 08.
  17. I had a similar situation with my 2008 5.3. Ran beautiful on the highway but then, at a stoplight, it would idle rough and throw a cylinder 2 misfire. Hard shift from 1-2 on acceleration then it would smooth out and run good again. Compression test showed bad compression on cylinder 2. Get a leak down test done too. The head was pulled and found to be a bad intake valve seat. The head was rebuilt at it runs perfect again.
  18. aeroplague, take your truck to the dealer. Tell the dealer that OnStar couldn't get to the bottom of it and have them replace the VCIM module. I had 17 phone calls with OnStar, each one over an hour long. They are useless but, if you complain, they will give you complimentary data back. You can monitor your data usage with the myGMC app to see if it is fixed. Make sure you do the things I noted above on Aug 24th.
  19. So, OnStar told me to take the truck to the dealership, since they couldn't solve the problem. The dealership changed the VCIM (Vehicle Communication Interface Module). Also, make sure on your truck, you have Settings>Connections>Wi-Fi Hotspot>Share Hotspot Data>Off On your phone (I have an iPhone), go to Settings>Wi-Fi and 'Forget' your truck's network so that it doesn't try to join. I got OnStar to reinstate my 3GB data plan so I'll keep you informed if the truck is still using data. Unfortunately, the myGMC app is funky, and it just has a spinning 'Updating...' thing. OnStar said to call them back in a couple of days.
  20. I turned off Google Map Auto Updates this morning. The truck still managed to use 100 MB of data while sitting outside my work-off- in the last 2 hours.
  21. I have a 2022 Refreshed Sierra Denali. I received a complimentary 3GB data plan with the truck. Without using Spotify, Pandora, Google Maps, etc., I burned through the 3GB in 1 week and 1500 km. I called OnStar and they gave me another 3GB as goodwill. I have burned through 2.6GB of that over the course of a couple of weeks. My WiFi hotspot is turned off so no phone can connect to my truck. I have never used any of the built in apps directly. Google Maps is on but I have never searched a destination or used the route function. I have spent over an hour, 5 different times with the OnStar people-they don't have a clue. Yesterday, the OnStar rep told be that July 18th, shortly after midnight, my truck used a significant amount of data. Strange thing is I was at my friend's cottage with another vehicle and my truck was sitting in my driveway, at home, obviously off. I can't get any answers from GM so asking for help here. Scott.
