  1. This is the unit they used on my 2015 Silverado with about 40,000 miles Monday (I paid a $200 deductible- GM covered the rest). I looked at a 2018 Yukon XL owned by a friend and did not see the additional bracket below the reflective material, though there is a weld in that location. It seems they chased a solution for some time. I searched and found several part numbers that have bee superseded and there are different part numbers for Yukon/Tahoe versus the trucks. I wonder if perhaps there are mounting differences because of slightly different sheet metal?
  2. Even more so batteries, as they will not be overcharged.
  3. It shouldn't change the Ackerman as far as I can see, but I can see it changing the dynamics somewhat. A change in tire width would move the contact patch relative to the centerline of the truck (assuming camber is not 0) and a change in diameter would impact trail (assuming caster is not 0). Not to mention what a change in wheel offset would do. Either of these will change the scrub radius and that might make the Ackerman issue (if there is one) more obvious.
  4. First, I would confirm that you have the correct parts installed, at least the uprights (spindles). I understand that Fabtech designed the kit to compensate for the lift, but it is possible the geometry is off because of an error in the installation. It would not be hard to confirm if you have Ackerman or not by checking for change in toe as you move from lock to lock. You should move toward toe out as you turn in each direction. If you cannot get an alignment shop to check this, you can always use the tried and true string alignment method. It may sound crude, but it was good enough for Carrol Smith and I have used it on race cars (mainly Formula Fords) many times.
  5. Among other things, if the length or angle of the steering arm (knuckle) is changed, you will change the Ackerman effect, and it need not cause binding, though it might. This is true in either plane. That is, raising or lowering the arm versus the rack, or changing its angle versus the centerline, could both impact the geometry. The other thing that could be impacted by these modifications is bump steer (aka roll steer), but that is not really in play at low speed.
  6. Yes, this is a reasonable assumption, but if the wrong parts are installed, or the right ones installed incorrectly, Fabtech's design intent goes out the window.
  7. Have you checked to confirm you have the correct spindles and tie rods installed? Ackerman is determined entirely by geometry, so if the tie rod and steering arm angles have not been compensated correctly for the lift there will be some deviation from the desired steering angle. Static alignment may be set the same, but as soon as the suspension moves you could see a difference.
  8. Yeah, I don't appendix carry. My preference is strong side at 3-4 o'clock in OWB, but IWB sometimes as well. I normally conceal, but Georgia is fine for OC so it might be lazy CC sometimes.
  9. No, the 1911SC E Series is what I had in mind: Changed link
  10. I carry a Colt CCO frequently. Commander slide on an Officer's frame so a little smaller in length than a Government and a little shorter in height than a Commander. Still 7+1 capacity in 45ACP. You should also consider the various bobtail options (S&W and Dan Wesson among others). I would like a Dan Wesson Guardian in 38 Super as I am lacking any 38 Super options at the moment and like the 9+1 capacity.
  11. I hope the new owners will maintain the quality we have seen from Lobo. I carry my CCO in an Enhanced Avenger and it is probably my favorite OWB holster for any of my handguns. Worn strongside at about 4 o'clock it is well concealed under a light jacket or sport/suit coat and carries very comfortably all day long.
  12. Depending on several variables, I will carry a Colt CCO in 45ACP, a 2.5" S&W 66-2 in 357 Mag or a S&W 640 Pro in 357 Mag.
