  1. Wouldn't that be something... Wonder what it would cost to get my preload checked at local 4x4 shop?
  2. Seems almost to be the preload setting as opposed to anything wrong with ring and pinion. Idk though.
  3. Not sure if any of you are on the "Silverado Addicts" Group on Facebook, but here is this:
  4. http://vibratesoftware.com/2016/12/26/nvh-app-the-chevy-chevrolet-shake-no-one-fix/ Holy shit.
  5. Necropost, sorry. Finally killed the Chevy shakes and am proud to post about my truck again LOL 2015 Silverado V6 Crew 4wd, RCX 7.5" lift, 35x12.5r20 Nitto EXOgrapplers on Grid Off-road Rims. Say what they want about the 4.3. I drove many stock Silverados during my time looking for a truck and loaners during my shake issues. Maybe I got a good one, but I would stand it against any of those on the line. Had a 2002 Sonoma 4wd 4.3 and it wasn't this fast. The auto transmission leaves some to be desired, but shift points need help. People really don't understand how this motor performs. However, I am honestly not aware of everything that the off-road company did before I bought it. When the warranty runs out I'll tear into it and regear both front and rear, custom tune, getting a nice set of coilovers to replace the RCX front spacers, full Moog front end, replacements of various RCX parts with custom fabbed. Especially the TRe extensions, they really seem cheesy. MagnaFlow exhaust 1-2out. K&N conical air filter, NGK iridium plugs, 54" light bar with RCX mounts.... Damnit man... Those are all just dreams for now... Meanwhile, in the words of my great granddad... "WE can race, or YOU can shutit"
  6. Okay. I've heard it both ways. Can an alignment CAUSE a vibration?
  7. So. How much should someone charge me to install Yukon axles on my pickup?
  8. Well, as someone here guessed it, the bad vibrations are back. Going tonight to trade this piece of shit in on a 2500HD, hopefully. Going to a different dealership as well because I am tired of driving an hour plus every week for a shake that noone seems to have figured out.
  9. Also, about 8 standard pallets in the short bed did not improve the vibration on that particular stretch. Other stretches of road that used to do it, do not anymore. the tuning fork effect may have some merit.... harmonic vibration is real... but this is the truck I bought and I am finally happy with it
  10. Strangest thing... definitely a reminiscent vibration today at 45mph on highway. Once road surface changed, vibe went away. Speed stayed exact on cruise control. Felt... slower frequency... I honestly wonder if the frame and wheelbase and road contact all have something to do with it... but, I'm lifted 6" on 20" rims and 35" Nitto Exo Grapplers, I can live with some amount of a harsh ride, very stiff sidewall on those tires anyhow. For note, even switching to stock rims and tires did not fix my vibe. Only once the driveshaft get balanced with 3 weights near the rear did it ride smooth. Have had numerous folks drive and ride it, they day it rides like a Cadillac, Ill take that.
  11. Driveshaft needed balanced. Vibrations gone.
  12. So... long story short, picoscope showed a vibration in the speed and rpm range i told them, about 35-50 and 3 weights were added to the driveshaft.... seems to have improved the ride, but after driving the same roads in a 2012 Impala 2017 Silverado crew cab and the wife's 15 Sonic, I am apt to think all the roads here in eastern NC have a certain harmonic on vehicles in the 35-50mph range, unless all 4 vehicles had terrible balance and beatup suspension... I would say my vibration has eased to the point that I am not unhappy with my purchase any longer. I would like to change the rough country shocks to bilsteins though. The truck with a 6" lift and 35" Nitto exograpplers rides very very smooth according to all my passengers as well. And the service department was actually very proactive, just took a lot of unnecessary prodding from myself and the wife. Once they started getting the daily 3pm phone call from one or the other, the ball rolled.
  13. Okay, just heard from the dealership. Picoscope revealed a vibration at 40-50mph (well, no duh).... Driveshaft is MY culprit... so they say... Should know later in the week. Till then, I'm in the dealership's impala..
  14. Cold weather seemed to minimize my vibration as well... something in the metallurgy of the rear end components perhaps?
  15. So, called dealership today to check status. Got told I would have to pay $150 for a picoscope. A visit and a hell raising changed that. Told them give me my fking pickup and I'll take it down the road to the Ford stealership... that changed their tune. Now they're going to do picoscope for free (surprise surprise) and should let me know the results tomorrow. Not very optimistic. Left in the loaner and immediately went to the Ford shop, no Raptors in stock unfortunately, because that's about the only thing I'll trade out for. They're trying to blame my vibration on the one time I got stuck in the mud and needed a tug to get out "tweaked something" is what they keep claiming. If a 2015 4WD can't take a tug without something going wonky, then it's a piece of shit. Ive been tugging 4wd pickups for years, don't give me that line. So, called dealership today to check status. 16. X2 Lost count of how many days in the shop in the 4 short months of ownership. Approaching 30 days, i think. Lost count of how many unreturned phone calls. Lost count of how many times I have had to get a little shitty just to get them to do what they told me they would in the first place. Lost count of how many days I came home pissed off because I feel like a dummy for dropping it off at the chevy dealership instead of at the Ford dealership. worst part is, I know they'll do the same shit. Maybe I'll just save my $737 for a month and buy a 98 yota. Sorry for the cussing y'all. It makes me fkin ill.
  17. Sorry for the long response time y'all. Life and the Wife calls. Well, I have had numerous issues with my 2k15 Silverado. Lifted 6" on 20" Grid Rims with 35" Nitto ExoGrapplers. Everyone says "it's the tires it's the tires!" BS. Proved that tonight when truck still does it with BRAND NEW 20" rims off another truck, same symptoms (40-50mph vibrations) left rear Rough Country shock was leaking originally ($60), thought that was the cause. No Dice. New one didn't fix. Dealership ordered brand new rear driver tire after 2x road force and rotation didn't fix. $350 out of their pocket for the new tire. Vinyl wrap also had to be redone not sure on that price. Needless to say, the dealership is getting tired of seeing me, and spending $$ on me. I hate to say it, but the service manager honestly is not sure what to say anymore. They have it now while my $50k truck is replaced by a 2012 impala. He says I should expect a call tomorrow. Service department has been the only saving grace of this entire Even though returning a phone call seems difficult for them... Beautiful truck I'm absolutely in love with. Best Part? I am now Supertuned to road surface variations. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
  18. Fellas... are we just chasing a ghost with a new name? http://www.gmfullsize.com/threads/non-traceable-vibration-frame-beaming.263167/
  19. Well, guess I'll shit in one hand and pray with the other anything is better than this...
  20. Surely they have to do a buy back according to Magnuson -Moss ? Eventually at least...
  21. Okay, truck has been at shop 15 days, to replace vinyl that is peeling on both bumpers and emblems, replace a bad shock and investigate the vibration. Get there and neither of the emblems is fixed, there was my first sign. Tires have been rotated and balanced (so I'm told). Barely make it to 40mph and whole truck drives like it's 100yrs old. Used to be only at about 45mph, now it is any speed above 35. Took mechanic for ride. Kid says "well sir, you may have gotten flat spots on the tires"...??? Told him I wasnt buying that answer. Took it back to shop and told service advisor, now they are going to road force balance the tires again Monday. Just like you guys said, they keep blaming the tires... I will be contacting my local GM rep Monday and we are going to have a nice long chat. $50k vibrator my ass.
  22. SilvG I can definitely try tomorrow after work!!!! It's completely impossible to ignore though... all I could say the whole way home is "damn, Id have turned around to the dealership by now if this was my brand ass new ride with 7 miles on the Odo..."
  23. Well, dropped her ('15 Silverado lt 4x4 v6) off this morning.. got in a brand new Loaner 2017 Silverado Lt 2x4 v8 with 7miles on the odometer.... Shakes 2x as bad as mine at highway speeds. Unreal. Not gonna cry because it's a loaner, but I'd be pretty pissed if this was my seriously BRAND NEW truck... Almost makes me think mine does not have the "Chevy shake" like I thought it did, man... this sucks. I hate it for anyone who has one that shakes this bad...
  24. Here's what I sent Chevy customer care, for anyone who wants to know. 2015 4x4 Crew Cab Silverado. Had it since August. Less than two months of ownership... All mods and suspension work done for Dealership by third party. Just under 21k on odometer, bought with 16500 on the odometer. What. A. Nightmare. Truck has already failed to engage in 4wd, leaving me to get pulled out of a small hole in my own driveway. When coming out of the hole, entire truck lurched forward and made a hellacious cracking sound. Babied it fifty feet to my house, towed to dealership, halfshaft had snapped, apparently latent 4wd engagement. A week before this I had to take to dealership for Airbag Recall. When dealership fixed halfshaft, truck was horribly out of alignment, steering wheel at 45°. Made ME pay $60 for an alignment as that is not part of GM service after axle replacement.... even though I'm sure the tech had to unbolt the ball joints to access the shaft... Rear driver side rim ($400) got chewed up all to hell while trying to drive out that day, from spinning in the mud... because of a faulty 4wd. Dealership installed black vinyl on bumpers and Chevy emblems, it is already peeling around all the edges. Tires are showing bad chop on all 4, and rock rash like you wouldn't believe on 3 of them, indicating to me that there is now another alignment necessary to prevent a $1500 set of tires from getting ruined. now, for about two weeks, I have a HORRIBLE vibration in my seat at 35-45mph and 70-80mph.. A quick search finds 650 pages of the same issue on one site, and 250 pages on another. Weight in the bed tones down the vibration, but it is still there. I will be contacting the dealership tomorrow. I will be taking it in for a rotation and balance and to address ALL of these issues For a truck that cost FIFTY GRAND++, this is absolutely unacceptable. Over $2k worth of damaged parts and tires, within two months... I really hate to say it, because I love my truck, but within 4k miles and two payments, I'm almost positive that the dealership will not fix all, or any, of these issues. Oh, not to mention the dealership experience. Simply horrible. Wife bought a 15 Sonic the NEXT DAY, was told she would get a $100 referral check, that only took, oh 20 phone calls and two months. Not to mention it took 35 days for her tags to come in and the dealership was as nonchalant as could be. Almost feels like, "sir, thanks for the 80grand, now piss off". Unbelievable. Even if these issues are fixed, I will probably NEVER buy a GM product again... but thats okay, as long as they get their $$$, right? Signed, Seriously Disappointed.
  25. Strangest thing. Put my ~50lb toolbucket at the tailgate (closed). Doesn't seem to vibe now! At least on my road, which it does every morning on the way to work. There's another stretch where I have to do 45 in town and it is miserable. Guess we will find out tomorrow morning...
