Thanks again for the replies and suggestions for a cap to cover the fuel filler. I went with the Fernco PQC-102 2" Qwik Cap. I removed the hose clamp. I liked the two ribs on the inside diameter. When I installed the cap, it felt like it snapped on to be secure. Removal was easy even in the cold weather we are having. My local hardware store had them in stock. Great suggestion.

The capless fuel filler is not a very impressive idea. On my 2018 Sierra 1500 I have had to carefully sweep out snow from the flap before I can fill up several times this winter. I live in eastern Iowa and we have had a lot of snow this winter. Very disappointing to open up the fuel door and there is snow inside and on top of the "Protective" flap. Obviously GM realized it was a problem as the new 2019's at my dealer have a rectangular door with a rubber seal all the way around. Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions for possible types of caps to use.

I went to get the oil change on my 2012 GMC 1500 Extended cab SLT and ran into my dealership salesman. I came home with this and got a free oil change for the 2012. A 2018 1500 double cab, 4WD, SLT. I added a spray in bed liner and tonnopro cover. Very happy with the new ride.

After purchasing a used 2102 GMC 1500 Extended cab SLT with the 5.3L, with 47K miles. I came across this sight and have been concerned about oil consumption. I have had many GM products over the years and that was one area I never worried about. So far after (2) 5,000 mile oil changes I have not had any oil consumption to date. I average about 1500 miles a month. Mostly highway miles to work and various other road trips. No towing at this time. As in some of the other posts, 5,000 miles for an oil change is enough for this engine. I appreciate the posted info and will update my engine experience as well.

I installed a front set of WeatherTech floor liners in my Sierra 1500 SLT today. To cold to do much else in the Midwest today.
