  1. It appears not as bad as GM. Only 119 replies and 17544 views.
  2. Update Got my truck back today with a new set of Michelins and the truck has never rode better. Had it up to 130kph and no vibration. Geez I hope it lasts.....
  3. My truck has a spray in liner and it vibrates.
  4. I got my truck back today with the 2nd new rear end. The problem created by the 1st new rear end is gone (which basically was the truck vibrated over 65kph). The dealer said no vibration now other than the one you get when in V4 mode and they said they all have that which makes it normal. So I took it on a freeway test drive and now it's back to where it was before they put the first rear end in. It vibrates at about 125kph. I informed the dealer an they say its due to the Firestone snow tires which don't meet the GM spec. I will upgrade to the suggested Michelins if the dealer will guarantee no vibration so lets see how that goes.
  5. Thank you good info
  6. Update GM Tech Support has determined the rear end needs replacing again. The replacement parts the dealer installed a month ago were in spec but were made in Mexico so I guess they were not certified or something. The new parts on order are made in Michigan which means they are certified so they are guaranteed to work... supposedly. I said the whole truck was made in Mexico so I guess that's whats wrong with it then. Send me one made in Michigan and maybe we'll have a certified truck.
  7. Update Not the drive shaft. The dealer doesn't know whats wrong and they are reaching out to GM Tech for answers. Found out why transmission factory rest made no difference.... They didn't do it.
  8. Update Dealer has finally acknowledged my truck has a vibration. I don't know every detail but they installed the original rims and tires. GM tech required all trouble shooting to be done with them. Then if the problem is resolved the snow tires will be re-installed and if there is vibration they will replace the snow tires. Original tires were RF balanced but truck still had a vibration. Then a Pico Scope was used and the dealer determined that truck needs a new drive shaft. The dealer is really not 100% sure what the problem is. The new rear end was installed because old one was most definitely the cause a couple weeks ago. The vibration they are now working on is between 65 and 80kph. The vibrations at 115kph and up are intermittent and seem to worsen after extended driving. I was given the truck back for the weekend to test out and its is better than before. I am almost certain the snow tires will also be replaced because from what I'm seeing now they worsened the existing issues. The dealer has said they have had a lot of troubles with Firestone tires and in most cases the fix installing Michelin. The transmission was reset and it shifts marginally better. What some have mentioned here IMHO is true. There is more than one cause for these vibrations.
  9. 10000 kms, Working 14hr days to pay for truck and no time to screw around with other dealers unfortunately. I don't have the money.. second vehicle is worth $300. Update: Dealer has picked up the truck and finally working on it. Lets see where this goes. Hopefully a real mechanic is working on it.
  10. Parked my truck last night I can't drive it anymore. It basically vibrates over 70 km/h and when the vibration makes you sick its unsafe. Dealer doesn't seem to care. $60K lawn ornament.
  11. I am kinda dumbfounded by their statement also. I basically said if they didn't go after the tire manufacturer, give me your test data and required specs and I will. I believe my request has my dealer working with GM tech on this, at least that's what I'm being told. Sad thing is this is a set of winter tires (Firestone 17") I purchased from the dealer. If this gets resolved I will likely have to go through this all in the spring with the regular wheels and tires (Bridgstone 22"). But on a positive note, today I was assured the new rear end definitely fixed my truck because it worked on another truck they did at the same time. The other truck didn't need tires replaced but mine does so it will be fixed. I was born yesterday apparently.
  12. From what I'm told GM has specified higher tolerances at least for the tires. In my case the dealer is saying my trucks vibration is due to the tires. A road force balance showed my tires needed 30lbs force to fix but apparently the tighter spec for our truck is around 20lbs. The result is my truck still vibrates supposedly due to this. I'm at the well you say it vibrates due to tires so I want them replaced and they say won't replace because tires are within the tire manufacturers spec.
  13. I agree with you on that. My dealer is also trying very, very hard but there seems to be no real fix. I know my dealer is working with GM tech support on my trucks issues so maybe there's hope. I have owned many GM trucks and never until this one have had so many issues. I absolutely hate driving it right now due to the vibration and the terrible shifting. I am giving the dealer a chance to fix but what a long drawn out process. I have told them working as designed is not acceptable. My truck worked fine when I first purchased it. They have suggested the option of the replacement process but I'm undecided if it's worth taking the chance on another poorly designed vehicle that takes 2 months worth of driving before you know if its defective. Lets hope they find the fix.
  14. Another thing that bothers me is another problem my trucks having and I can't help think the two are related. It's the way the transmission shifts, way to soon, doesn't down shift etc etc. and all in the name of supposed fuel economy. Anyway what I'm noticing is when the truck is going 55 kph doing only 1000 RPM there's a lot of vibration also. I'm thinking in this instance the source is the engine laboring due to the high gear its trying drive. I now drive in tow haul mode because its the only way I can stand the truck while driving in the city. I forgot yesterday to switch out of tow haul mode while on the highway driving 80 kph and noticed it drove somewhat smoother. Maybe the whole drive line needs some kind of tune, maybe its a harmonic type of thing. The dealer is supposed to reset the transmission back to factory defaults so lets see what happens after that. Don't think this motor deals well with low RPM and that's got me wondering if changing the rear end from 3.42 to 3.73 may help. I'm not seeing the so called good fuel mileage anyway.... especially in my case when the engine always seems to be laboring.
  15. I've downloaded the app will be interesting to see the results. My butt has been verifying them for some time :/ Like others my truck also had the vibration at the 75MPH mark but now it seems to be at many speeds which I have to believe currently is the snow tires. Every time they removed them for balancing the truck comes back worse. I'm am going to stress my dealer replace these tires and if they don't I want documented RF results so I can present them to Firestone and try to get them to replace them. The dealer says these tires are causing the current issue. My theory is if they are replaced with known good tires and the truck still vibrates, then I can proceed to getting back at the original problem if it still exists.
  16. Yes Newbie to the site here. I have a 2015 Sierra with vibration issues among other problems that have brought me to this site. To date I have had my tires balanced and re-balanced then new snow tired balanced and re-balanced and just had a new rear end installed. Every visit to the dealer seems to make the vibration worse. The dealer acknowledges there are issues with these trucks and is trying very hard to rectify. Currently the dealer says the vibration on my truck is due to the tires. The road force balance test show my tires requiring 30lbs an the GM spec is a max of 20lbs due to the stiffer frames in our trucks. I'm hoping to get the new winter tires replaced buy the manufacturer but the dealer says they won't replace them because 30lbs is within the tire manufacturer spec. The original 22" tires will be replaced under warranty next spring.
