  1. So both of the remotes for my '15 Silverado are showing their age. What is a reliable source for getting replacements? Googling comes up with all kinds of results. What are reliable online sources for ordering? Any you've ordered and they turned out to be poor quality or non-functioning?
  2. @ftwhite Yes, original shocks. I did have a 2" (or 2.5"?) level kit installed a year or two after I bought the truck new (one of those round ones that gets put on top of the spring or whatever). I mean, I'm considering just buying some new front shocks anyway but thought I'd ask in case it's something different. If I do, it'll be a kit to keep it level without the add-on piece. @UrbanRage Thanks, I'll look into this; that could be it. Very plausible since it's a cool/cold weather thing.
  3. I’m just hoping to track down the cause/solution.
  4. So on my '15 Crew Z71, I've notice the last few years that when the weather is cool or cold and I first get in and begin to drive somewhere, anytime I hit a bump or speed bump (like on our work campus), the front in makes a crunchy/farting noise (yes, I said farting... for lack of a better term). Sounds to me like rubber against metal. I assume the rubber contracts when cold and causes this noise. If above 50° or so outdoor temp it doesn't do it. And the colder it is, the more pronounced the noise. Any ideas as to what it is? Shocks? Some other joint in the suspension? Seems to be getting a little worse over time so I'd like to remedy it if I can. About 96k miles on the truck. I'm hoping it's something simple. Thoughts? Experienced it?
  5. Ah, OK. Thanks for that info. I'll do some research for a how-to on how to do that or if it's even something I can do myself.
  6. OK, so here's one for you. I noticed within the last couple or so months that there is the sound of water/fluid 'gurgling' (like running through hose or pipe) when I roll up to an intersection and am stopped. Any idea what it would be? The reservoir of the coolant shows to be full. It's hard to describe the sound but it's almost like air moving up through liquid in a pipe/hose or it could just be liquid flowing and perhaps the hose takes a bend downward and it's the sound of it making that drop. No fluids under the truck or in the engine bay. I've had the truck since new (specs should be in my sig but it's a '15 crew with the 5.3. Any ideas? I'm not necessarily thinking it's an indication of a problem but I hadn't noticed it before in the around 10 years I've had it so it made me wonder if there are some fluid levels I specifically need to closely check.
  7. So when I've searched I didn't use those exact terms but I was always just getting aftermarket add-on cup holders or consoles (like ones that just sit on a seat) and not this actual part. I figured some of you here would know the proper terms and where to look. Admittedly, I only googled it and didn't go to a particular parts site. Amateur of me, I know. Thanks everyone!
  8. Does anyone know if I can just order/purchase this plastic piece from somewhere? A few weeks ago I raised the armrest and the whole thing came open and everything fell in the rear floorboard. I was confused. After I reached my destination I figured out that the plastic piece had come out, letting the lid to the storage compartment open up and dump everything. Upon further inspection I see that where the bolts are supposed to attach it to the rest of the piece and hold it in had broken. Both were broken out and then I see them still bolted into the main part of the armrest. No idea how that happened. Can I purchase a new plastic piece (cup holders, etc) to replace the one I have? Link(s) would be appreciated. I’ve done some brief searching online and my terms have not yielded what I’m needing. In case I didn’t describe it clearly enough, I’ve attached a photo where I’ve circled the piece I’m talking about.
  9. UPDATE: Picked my truck up today (after they did some tests to determine another issue) and they said they went ahead and completed the TSB for the brakes/vacuum pump thing since they had the parts on hand. I can tell that the pedal is consistent now whereas previously you could tell a difference (perhaps I was just paying more attention recently but still...) so I am hoping that it does in fact resolve the issue. So, thanks for sharing the TSB link...at least I got that taken care of at no cost. Now to take my truck back to them in a couple of weeks for them to do the other bank of injectors...and write another big check for that. *sigh*
  10. Print out and took the TSB to the dealer this morning when I was having to take my truck in for something else (they're trying to figure out why the SEL is on and throwing P219A and/or P050D code; replaced a bank of injectors at almost $1,500 two weeks ago and the SEL came back on after I was on the way home from the shop and was 1/2 mile from my house but anyway...). Service guy said "oh yeah I'm familiar with that, I'll look it up on the system as it should show under your truck if it's applicable" so hopefully that gets done. I'm experiencing the symptoms detailed in the TSB as well as what I mentioned in this thread so...
  11. It only shows the "roof-rail airbag (“RRAB”) inflators" recall which I had done this morning and hasn't cleared the system yet I guess.
  12. So when I read this the other day I thought "yeah I think that's happened to me" so I tested it a couple of times lately. I can do what you described (press the pedal some before reversing down the drive) and it did it. It also did it in a parking lot the other day as I had depressed the pedal a couple of times while sitting there before backing out to leave. I'm thinking this may be it vs the bearing. Maybe. What's involved in changing the vacuum pump? I want to hope it's an easy thing but I'm going to guess it's probably difficult... What about the bearing? Since both have been mentioned...
  13. Interesting insight on the wheel bearing or vacuum. Will keep those in mind.
  14. Still curious if anyone else has experienced this. It happened again yesterday and it's almost like a grunting sound as the pedal slowly continues to depress to the floor while braking. Can feel it in the pedal, as well. Yesterday it happened when I was reversing.
  15. Not replaced and not updated, no. And no downhill decent on. Unless it’s default. But I think it requires a button press which I haven’t used.
  16. So, the title pretty much explains the issue but I'll elaborate here. 2015 Crew Cab z71. I've noticed this in two different scenarios - one scenario, which was the first time I experienced it, is driving in the woods down a hill for a couple of hundred yards and, two, in stop and go slow moving traffic, also going down a hill/decline. The first scenario is going into a hunting cabin we have in the woods. I first thought it was because it was through solid leaves and that maybe there was some slipping/sliding and it was trying to counteract that. However, when it does it on dry pavement then that kind of throws that out the window in my mind, at least. I was in stop and go traffic, crawling when we were moving. After about a mile of this, we were going downhill for about 100 yards or so and it did it - pedal feel complete changes, brakes make a grunting sound, and pedal slowly presses all the way to the floor. Truck stops but certainly not normally. The only way I've figured out how to get it to return to normal is put it in park, turn it off, and start it again. After that it'll be fine. Anybody experienced this? Ideas? What do you think? Brakes otherwise operate fine and feel 'good' and not in need of new pads or anything. I'm about to roll over to 75,000 miles but it's been doing it, at least when going down the hill to the cabin, for 20,000 miles at least. (Don't go that often so it's one of those things that gets forgotten or isn't a high priority until it happens). Had never done it in traffic on dry pavement until about 3 months ago though. Any insight or suggestions appreciated. If someone else has experienced this and knows the fix I'm all ears.
  17. OK, well I'll follow-up on this. Took it to the dealership this past Friday and it was, surprise, the condenser. I went ahead and let them replace it. A chunk of change I didn't want to pay but it is what it is. He quoted me $1,180 but the final bill was $1,160. With the way things go for me, I figured if I ordered the part myself and tried to put it on myself, it'd either arrive bent and be a long replacement process or I'd break something else in the process. So, $1,162 poorer but I have ice cold a/c again. Oh well. GM should really reimburse the costs or part of the costs for these...
  18. Full disclosure - I did not read every comment in this almost 40-page thread so I apologize in advance but I'm on break at work right now and don't have that much time. I did read the first page or so and then the last couple. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I gather is: There was a design flaw in the a/c condenser that causes it to develop a leak GM acknowledges that it's a flaw but doesn't replace it for free It can cost up to $1400 at a dealer to get it replaced Some have replaced it themselves but it's a 3-4 hour job (and a person likely needs some certain tools/equipment to properly install and charge it) Did I miss anything? '15 LT CC Z71 here, 55,600 miles, a/c just stopped cooling properly...does this mean I likely have fallen victim to this, as well? What's the suggested course of action? Dealer repair and try to get them to cover the cost? (Tips for this?? Any TSBs or whatever to tell them so they can help cover it?) Or better to just buy the part and have a local private garage do the install for less than the dealership? If this, what's the p/n of the updated version that remedies the issue from happening again? Thanks in advance! I'm confident several of you in this thread have great knowledge to impart to me on this issue based on your own experience so I'm all ears (well, eyes...).
  19. Mine has started doing this very thing in the last few days. Is there is a fix? Read through the thread but it was difficult to know what solutions were for which issue since it seemed like different sounds were being discussed here...but mine does this consistent noise as I turn the steering left or right. What's the fix?
  20. OK, OK...so...after reading several pages of this to get 'caught up' since I hadn't been on here in a few weeks, just a couple of questions for clarification purposes... 2015 Silverado CC Z71 with stock 18's (and stock Goodyears for now) 1) I have a 2.5" Motofab level on mine (spacer on top of the front). That (and an alignment) was all that was done. Is that all that should have been done or is something else needed? I'm not asking could other stuff be done (I know that answer is yes) but just should there have been or am I good? 2) Looking at new tires soon. Stocks are the 265/65r18, of course. What is the largest I could go (keeping stock wheels) with no rubbing issues? 275/70? 285/65? 285/75? Just curious. Been strongly looking at the Toyo Open County A/T IIs but I've also eyed some of the Nittos. Mostly looking for an A/T type and not a mud tire. 3) When you go up in tire size (well, change it at all, either way) do you just have the dealer recalibrate the speedo or do it some other way (tuner?)? I know I could ignore it but I'd like it correct so I'm just wondering what most do...
  21. Going by your signature, how do you like the Nittos? Smooth/quiet on the highway? Or how loud?
  22. I know your post was over a month ago but...are you sure the noise is from the front? Since putting a 2.5" on the front of mine I have noticed a noise at the rear of the rear leafs - both sides. Can grab the hand hold at the rear corner and move the truck side to size and it'll do it, too. Still trying to come up with a solution. This may be different than your issue...or maybe not. Anyone else experienced what I've described?
  23. It's funny how opinions differ. Everyone I've talked to so far about the new '19 Chevy and GMC have raved about how great they look, how much improved they are over the ugly-ish '16 style Silverado, and all that. I've yet to hear a negative comment...until the posts in this thread. lol
