  1. The current flow to the dash light is controlled by the actuator in the front differential. Your transfer case might not be in 4wd, but my best guess would be that your front axle is still locked in, hence, your front driveshaft is still rotating. Like the other poster said, your front actuator is probably shot.
  2. Not related, but with the manual transfer case trucks, the light on the dash shouldn't come on if the front axle actuator doesn't properly engage. The current for the dash light is dependent upon that actuator doing its job. Obviously this doesn't apply to the electric shift models as the dash light doesn't come on in 4wd high (if I understand correctly). I'm guessing that when people refer to dash lights in the electric shift 4wd models they are referring to the lights adjacent to the switch.
  3. Same here. They aren't leaking much so I've been ignoring them for years. This is the rear axle I'm talking about.
  4. New knock sensors? WTF for? How do you know they're bad?
  5. I had something similar to this. After I had it aligned one of the shops didn't fully tighten, and I mean FULLY TIGHTEN the upper control arms. They are supposed to be at like 150 lbs/ft. After I tighted them up with a torque wrench problem went bye-bye. I noticed it one day when I was letting the truck down off a pump jack.
  6. I have had to retorque my upper control arm bolts a couple of times. They have pretty high torque specs, use a torque wrench. I was getting some noise also. I think the torque spec. is like 150 or something.
  7. I have had to use the adjustment procedure mentioned above, it works fine (turning that little collar). Just a pain in the ass.
  8. Just spin the star screw towards the "base" and it will move the ebrake shoes out. Just put them out a little. If you have trouble getting the disc/drum assembly back on you probably moved the shoes out too much!
  9. On my GMT 800 I don't think the torque converter locks up at all in 3rd gear. I think in Tow/Haul mode it will still lock up in 4th. I have heard that the heat relative to the torque converter is caused if it is cycling in and out frequently. One guy on this board at one time installed a switch he could activate to keep the converter from engaging in 4th gear. Pretty slick I think.
