  1. I had high hopes for a retro Bronco like redesign. Instead I got a disappointment.
  2. As was mentioned, the only other thing would be slow vacuum leak in master cylinder which gradually applies the brakes.
  3. Another possibility which comes to my mind is the possibility of a broken rear leaf section. It has happened to other member's trucks. Carefully inspect each leaf section to see if you find a break. On another note, somebody mentioned bad shocks. I should add that I changed out my factory rear shocks at 60k and they were TOAST
  4. I thought about that. I think the ride height should be the same with the quick strut springs. If the dampening rate is a little stiffer I think I can deal with that. Most people liked the handling/trailering suspension more anyway than the "solid, smooth" ride that I got (ie base suspension). I can't believe it all crapped out after 50k miles!
  5. Anyone have any experience with these in the GMT-900s? I was thinking this would be the way to go for strut replacement in the front end of my truck. So much easier than dealing with spring compressor, etc. Do we think the spring that comes with this unit will be at least comparable to OEM quality?
  6. This is the very first I have heard of this, I crap you not. I'm going to start cleaning out these things on a regular basis. I had no idea the plugs were there.
  7. My sister's Cruze got a similar recall notice. I told her not to bring it in because all I could think is that they would lean it out a little or something. All I know is that it is running fine now. I figure nothing good could come from messing with it.
  8. The fuel pumps are famous for crapping out.
  9. I did my rear end, no G80 though. I bought a new gasket from group1autoparts.com However, as mentioned earlier, I realized I could have reused the casket. It's not the paper/cork jobs of previous years, its a reinforced rubber unit. Pretty beefy if you're careful. Careful reading of the service instructions indicate that the unit can be refilled to the bottom of the fill hole. As always, be sure to remove the fill plug before taking the cover off so you ensure the ability to refill the unit after draining it out.
  10. Notorious for failure around here...
  11. Congratulations! It feels so good to get a big project out of the way. Now...post that link!
  12. Man, I think they are still the best thing going value wise...Plus, parts are so relatively cheap when a repair is needed. I can go down to the local ACDelco retail outlet and get factory parts at good prices. You can't do this with any other brand. To me that is huge. Plus, I have become so used to working on GM trucks/cars that I don't think I would be comfortable with anything else, if you can believe that. Re: the rockers- I swear, that liquid de-icer pre-treatment that they are using these days is the worst thing in the world for vehicles. GM does at least still have their 6/100k rust through coverage.
  13. I would be more thankful than amazed! Those clueless folks helped you out!
  14. Try Castrol Edge 5w30 with a Mobil 1 filter. It got rid of my ticking by about 95%. Don't go for the extended performance, just the regular full syn 5w30
  15. Oh, heavy duty trailer package. That probably does make the difference. That would have also probably included the 3.73 axle, potentially. That also makes a difference. Finally, that 06 may have the slide-in camper prep package. That was one of the options if I recall correctly.
  16. Why would his 2006 say he can put one in (albeit prohibitively small) and not is 2003? It sounds like they are both extended cab 4wd
  17. Stupid question, but you don't have the composite bed do you? Maybe higher center of gravity with z71 package.
  18. With that amount of rust I'm wondering if somewhere in shipment that truck didn't get a bath of some sort of caustic chemical. I say this because it's like every single metal item underneath that thing, even the exhaust, which really never rusts anymore. I'm telling you, something got onto that.
  19. I have had massively good luck with prices on group1autoparts.com
  20. I would be curious to know if all of the trucks that have this problem come off the same line. I'm telling you, something is seriously wrong with that on a molecular level or something. Like there's a charge issue on the metal or who the hell knows what. Some outside force is accelerating the chemical reaction that takes place which causes rust. I'm pretty sure I could leave a piece of untreated metal outdoors for that amount of time and it wouldn't look like that. That is just insane.
  21. My 4.8 makes that exact sound occasionally. If it makes it this week maybe I'll take it to the dealer. For my sake, will you keep me apprised of what they tell you?
  22. There is something wrong with that frame man. That has to be some sort of defect. It looks like a cancer enveloped everything. There has to be some sort of chemical imbalance going on there...just incredible. Some have said the salt-brine liquid de-icers that are all the rage right now are what is really destroying vehicles. I tell you, that's about the worst I've ever seen.
  23. Yeah, truck frames get some surface rust and then they just sit there...Have you ever had a truck frame that didn't have surface rust?
  24. Another instance in which I'm glad I got the lever actuated transfer case. Admittedly this isn't a very helpful comment.
  25. I don't think it will kill it for a relatively short time period. At least the transfer case is disconnected so there is no power going to the front axle. I would try to get it fixed so excessive wear doesn't occur in the front diff.
