brown1william replied to tanked_darren's topic in 2014 - 2018 Chevy Silverado & GMC SierraHow easy is it to replace this filter in a 2015? I went to my local advance auto but they didn't have any in stock. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
2015 2500 HD with 137k miles already. I am the second owner and plan on keeping this truck for a very long time. What can I do now to help slow down or prevent rust. Iowa winters (salt, sand, and the liquid salt) are rough on frames. Fluid film? Take truck to a shop and let them undercoat the bottom? Other options? I try to wash the truck when the temperature is reasonable here.
My 2015 is out of warranty (High Mileage previous owner) I just put some clear silicone on it and hasn't leaked since. This summer I might remove the silicone and try to put a cleaner/neater amount on. I did a rush job because of the cold here.
brown1william replied to vranasaurus's topic in 2014 - 2018 Chevy Silverado & GMC SierraI'd like to know as well. My fifth wheel damaged mine and I wanted to look into replacing the rail cap. Just on one side. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
The issue is the DEF temperature sensor or resistor or the pump. Mine is out of warranty so I have to replace it myself. Dealer wanted $1,000 for the job. I ordered a whole new Dorman pump for $200. It's been cold here so I haven't been in a hurry to replace it yet. Plus the light tends to turn itself off which then enables my remote start which is a really nice feature when you suffer from Raynaud's. The light had been off for a while but it popped back on this morning. Crazy thing is it was warmer today than yesterday so it must just be a faulty unit. I will replace it at some point but trying to wait until warmer weather. My truck won't fit in my garage which happens to be heated.
Any pictures of where the def tank is on a 2015 (build date 03/2014)? I have to replace the def pump the next time the light comes back on. It went off again on it's own but I have a new pump ready to replace it. I am hoping this one holds out till warmer weather because the truck won't fit in my heated garage.
I used clear rtv around the sat antenna for now. It looks worse than I thought it would for being clear rtv. This summer I'll try and remove it and fix it properly. In the mean time hopefully it stops the leak for the rest of winter and spring.
I bought my 2015 used and it had 130k miles on it. Now it has 137k. I am out of any kind of warranty so I have to fix it myself. The DEF pump is already ordered so that I can replace it. I'll get some clear rtv today and try to figure out a way to seal the leak. Still foggy and rainy here. My truck is the silver ice.
It's still been wet and heavy fog here so it's leaked again. What can I put on that hole on the sat antenna that will work while it's cold and wet? My truck won't fit in my garage so that's not an option. The rain water is staining the head liner and I need to stop it before it gets worse.
Back in November I got a letter from Chevy about a possible problem where a malfunction-indicator light (MIL) may come on due to an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or increased DEF tank-heater resistance. It said if I was not experiencing this problem to save this letter for when it did become a problem. So of course a few months later my truck starts exhibiting the failure. I read the letter closer and it says 10 years or 120,000 miles. I bought the truck used with 130,000 miles on it. I am talking with the dealer tomorrow to see if they will cover it but I'm not getting my hopes up. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it themselves or taken it to a dealer and what did it roughly cost?
