I had the same problems with my 2019 Silverado I just bought as a used truck. I had it for 2 weeks when it first happened and it did it again about a week later. I took it back to the dealer. They had never heard of anything like this. I really don't think the believed me. That night I found this group and showed them that yes this is an issue. They called Chevy (they do know about this problem) they told them to replace the steering gear module.
This was last week, yesterday I started the truck it jerked forward I could not move the wheel like before and my message said "steering assist reduced drive with care".
It is in the shop again.
I wanted to thank everyone that posted their experience. You helped me make the dealer understand the issue.
They are now telling me this is a completely different problem.
Can you believe I have not made a payment on it yet.
