  1. Thanks fellas, I plan on trying to replace them tomorrow afternoon. Will see how it goes.
  2. I know the tool is not needed but seems like it would be easier to use the tool in the hard to reach places rather than trying to pick off the clips.
  3. I know this thread is a little older but looking at replacing the lines on my 2001 Silverado 1500 Z71 and was looking to purchase the Lisle 22930 tool. I thought that tool would work on all the connections for the transmission, radiator and cooler. If this is wrong please let me know so I can purchase the 22940 as well.
  4. Thanks, how many hoses are there total to be replaced other than the upper and lower radiator hose?
  5. Working on my project truck (2001 Z71) that has been sitting for a few years. Doing a complete tune up on it soon and planning on doing a coolant flush along with replacing the thermostat and housing. Also replacing the belt tensioner pully so while I'm there is it a good idea to go ahead and replace the water pump? I have no idea when or if it has been changed. Will also be replacing the upper and lower radiator hoses and radiator cap. Truck has around 135K miles. If so is there a recommended water pump and thermostat and housing to use or will any of the ones the local parts store sell be good to go. Was going to order them on amazon since the price seems cheaper than my local parts store. Was looking at the Gates 45005 water pump and 33910 thermostat with housing for less than $100. Any advice would be much appreciated, I'm new to these trucks.
  6. Anyone use the Doorman 919-107 brake line kit? Brake Hydraulic Line Kit | 919-107 | Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit | Dorman Products
  7. Thanks, the interior is original. Don't mind all those extra parts in the back seat area. They do not belong to this truck. My buddy purchased this truck from one of our co-workers. His dad has owned it since 2006 and I checked the carfax report and it has a clean record. Does show that the transmission and trans axle was replaced by the dealership in 2005 before it was sold to his dad. The rust is a big issue here in South Texas due to being near the coast. There are no dents or other issues that I could see on the exterior other than the rust spots and the faded paint on the hood and cab. I was able to make a deal with my buddy on the truck for less than the $1K. I'm trying to gather a list of parts that I need to order to get all the brakes in working order. While looking online for the parts to order I see that there are two options for the rear, single or dual piston calipers. Was it common for these trucks in 2001 to have dual piston calipers in the rear? Does anyone know of a company that sell preformed brake lines for this truck? My local auto parts store said they don't sell them. List of parts I plan on ordering. Let me know if I should add anything else to it. This is just to try and get the truck back on the road. 8. Snapped a few pics of the truck. Well pics didn't work. Let me figure this out.
  9. Thanks, I'm going to take a better look at it this week when the guy has time. I'll report back once I do.
  10. Well I went by to take a quick look at it and it was in worse shape than I was told. There was a rust spot on top of the cab and the dash was all cracked. Said he would take $1000 for it since he wasn’t aware of the rust and dash.
  11. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2002 Chevy 1500 Z71 Extended Cab with around 120K miles. Been sitting for a few years so will need some work. Before being parked the entire A/C system was replaced ($2K). Brakes are sized up at the moment so if I purchase it I'd replace the breaks all the way around and possible the brake lines. Has leather interior that still looks new inside, no rust on the body or any dents. Original paint is faded and the clear coat is peeling. Needs new tires as well and I'm sure will need a complete tune up. New fuel pump was just replaced to make sure the truck started up and ran. Is $2K too much for the truck in the condition it's in?
